Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 207: Shift in Power
While the rescue party was resting, the capital was currently undergoing major changes.
Hilten went to his teacher, bowing a bit. "Sir, I found out about the bombing," he said with a frown.
"If possible, please put a hold on it."
The teacher sat leisurely as he drank his tea. "I know you well enough to know you’re as far away from righteous as you look the contrary.
"We could’ve waited until they got the scientist."
"You don’t seriously believe those people are still alive? Although there are farms there, those people are scientists. They can’t fight those monsters."
"Besides, the people of importance are in lower basements, mostly old people, so it would be difficult for them to go to the farms."
Hilten frowned, pursing his lips, knowing full well—through Mira—that there was at least one survivor there.
Also… that girl.
"What’s wrong?"
"It’s about that girl," Hilten said, making the old man look at him.
"Why? She’s beautiful, but that’s not enough to go to me for it, right?"
Hilten sighed and took out an envelope. This was the woman’s test results he obtained in Peace Territory.
At first, the old man was noncommittal as he looked at the results. However, the more the old man read, the deeper his eyebrows furrowed.
Finally, he whipped his head and gave his student a bad look.
"Why didn’t you tell me?"
How could Hilten say that he wanted her for himself?
Especially, the general is dying, he’d definitely want to hog the girl not just for beauty but mostly for his own life.
How could Hilten let this man have that?
The old man saw that he wasn’t going to give him a decent answer, but knew the seriousness of it.
The general didn’t speak for a while, rubbing his temple. "It’s too late."
"The helicopters should have exploded hours ago. What a pity."
Hilten’s jaw clenched and he frowned, annoyed that his plans were disrupted so badly. In his mind, he would have all the women—especially that one, with her beauty and her extremely useful abilities.
However, they were both ranked soldiers so they didn’t dwell too much on the losses, immediately moving forward and looking for a solution.
After a pause, the general sighed. "Well, if one could develop that ability, perhaps there may be more."
Hilten nodded, "The girl did say another one—Claire—had similar abilities as she had. I’m not sure how close the abilities are, but it’s worth a try."
The general looked at him and nodded, "Get that one back here, and we can talk about your position in the base."
"Thank you, teacher."

The next day.
Sid and Jojo roamed around the territory, trying to find more information, just so they had something to do and hopefully contribute when Khalifa, Hugo, and the others had returned.
Somewhere along this time, they found a very familiar monster truck.
But… it was being used by big men!
It so happened that a squad was patrolling, and they immediately went to them.
"That’s stolen! They’re not the owners of that truck! It was a family of three!"
The bystanders shook their heads, some in pity, and some as if they were the biggest idiots.
Whatever the reaction was though, it only made their hearts drop.
But before they could ask more questions, the PA system sounded, asking everyone to gather in the square for a very important announcement.
"What do you think happened?" Jojo asked Sid, whose handsome jaw was clenched, having a bad feeling about it.
Since Khalifa and the others left, he had felt a shift in the atmosphere here.
He could only hope it was his imagination.
…
The population gathered around the square, waiting for the so-called announcement with various thoughts.
They asked around and no one seemed to know what it was about, but this was the first time such an announcement was made like this. Before, it will just be told in the PA system and that was that.
Jojo and Sid looked at each other with furrowed eyebrows, but otherwise neither of them spoke, just waiting for it to start.
Soon several high ranked officials appeared and climbed up the podium, sitting on the podium with deep frowns on their faces.
Then a kind-looking old General stood up, walking towards the dais. However, before he could utter a word, his eyes shut, as if trying and failing to gather himself.
It naturally struck pity and softness to the masses.
His body language reeked of depression. Anyone with a heart would soften at the sight of such an old man near tears.
"My brethren. Today, I stand before you with a heavy heart, burdened by the sad news I must share.
"I received unfortunate news that yesterday afternoon, our leader, the young brave soldier Kylo Murong, and his party, had unfortunately left us in a tragic accident."
A lot of people gasped, while a few sobbed a bit, especially those directly rescued by the team.
"Our guiding light had passed while trying to rescue scientists in hopes of saving us all.
"In the face of adversity, that young brave man stood tall, shielded us, and led us to our current survival.
"Today, we mourn for the loss of the visionary and his good party—a collection of great talent that humanity is most unfortunate to lose."
"In this time of grief, let us come as a community, stay strong together so his sacrifice will not be in vain."
Jojo and Sid couldn’t believe their ears as they stared at him, ignoring the looks that their exclamation roused.
"Impossible!"
The old man was surprised but shook his head. "I know it is sad but."
"They’re so powerful—"

"The capitol has millions of zombies, and only a few of them went there…"
Implication: It was their own stupidity that they died.
Sid and Jojo’s eyes turned red. They’re so confident Kylo and the others wouldn’t be returning?
"How do you know they’re dead, then?" Sid asked, tone rising to impertinence.
He was definitely prepared to do whatever to question this! His heart still couldn’t stop beating loudly, completely in disbelief.
But a new voice sounded near the stage and then his brain died a bit.
"Stop it brother," the woman said, "The others have lost contact with them. They’re apparently mobbed by thousands of zombies before contact disappeared.
"We can’t risk any more lives to check."
"Suli?!"
"Yes, brother." she said, "They’re gone, please accept it."
They watched as the pretty girl stood next to the old man, intimately.
What… the hell is going on?!

Later, back in Hilten’s abode, he watched coldly as the woman crazily laughed in glee at the news he had shared.
Although… neither of them were certain what the loss of the mission could imply, she still knew the scientist was rescued months later. They didn’t worry too much.
Anyway, Mira giggled like a maniac at the news of Khalifa’s horrid death. Did she become an ugly zombie? Even uglier than she was?
But then she realized, if an accident happened, who could help her? She was still itching so much! She could barely eat!
She also missed having sex!
She paled and she lifted her head to look at her man, hoping to get his help, but she froze when she only saw disgust in his eyes.
"Our mission is not over yet."
He had been thinking of getting rid of this useless thing since he already got all that she knew of the future, but after that talk with the general, it seemed that she was still useful.
"Aren’t you friends with that Claire girl?" He asked, looking at the girl who nodded her head.
"We need her here, if you want me to climb that position."
Before Mira nodded though, she looked at him in apprehension. "If Claire can heal your teacher…"
He narrowed his eyes. That’s right. He knew his teacher was dying, and he knew the power would shift in his favor if he played his cards right.
Mira’s eyes sharpened, knowing this.
"Leave it to me~"
It’s finally her time to shine!
