Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 209: Police Station
Sigmund turned his head and ignored her, writing down on his notes about whatever she knew.
It wasn’t that they hadn’t told him before, but he mostly focused on the existence of the virus.
Seeing their powers and how zombies would be able to use theirs intrigued him very much.
"You said that zombies would also upgrade and some will gain powers."
"That makes sense," he said when she nodded.
"I will start analyzing your blood soon. Prepare samples. Especially yours," he said, and he gave the cold scientist vibe that hackled Cauis’ feathers, who pulled Khalifa behind him.
"You dare!"
"Calm down Caius," she said, "It’s just a bit, for the greater good."
Cauis’ eyebrows furrowed but he just held her hand, and he led her back to the lobby so they could wait for the others—ideally far away from this freak.
Fortunately, the others arrived less than an hour later, fully prepared for their trip back.
They had no choice but to go by land, and could only choose the less populated path, so they really had to prepare for a tiring and dangerous battle ahead.
It happened that while the facility was within the capital, it was sufficiently near the suburb area. They would have to take a very long way, but it was the safest path they could take right now. .
Before they went, however—
"Wait," Sigmund said, "The dormitory and a few other buildings have a PA system."
He didn’t say anymore, but everyone’s eyes brightened.
…
Some time later, the door of the laboratory opened and it attracted nearby zombies in.
Immediately, a blaring rock song resounded and hundreds and hundreds of zombies got attracted.
The sounds changed and focused at the edge, gathering the nearby zombies there before it stopped.
Khalifa’s team, hidden somewhere just outside the laboratory under Cauis’ soil, took advantage of this to escape.
They headed towards the least populated wall and, with a makeshift ramp made by Khalifa’s ice, they went over it and landed at the relatively quiet area on the other side.
Khalifa clapped her hands and thin walls of ice formed next to the car, floating and following its movements, in some form of attempt to minimize their visuals.
Whenever zombies found them, she would push them back by this wall, and then the others would also throw their elements.
Normal Guns were a no-go for now as they made noise, and they didn’t need that attention. The plasma guns in Khalifas space were also limited because everything else exploded in the helicopter, so they didn’t want to use them so early.
After a few hours, they reached the suburbs, which had a relatively more manageable amount of zombies.
They traveled and did wheel battles, with those on break eating some packed food and pickled vegetables.
While Khalifa was chewing on jerkies, Kaize—whose turn in it was to rest as well—found a place behind her.
He wrapped his strong arms around her stomach and kissed her ears.
"Are you alright?" he asked, hotly. "Are you sure you don’t need seeds anymore?"
She rolled her eyes while the soldiers wanted to cover their ears.
It took Sigmund a while to understand though, and he only noticed because of the soldiers’ odd reactions.
After all, what if Khalifa wanted seeds?
His eyebrows rose at the realization. "Semen helps you recharge?"
Getting asked that for purely academic purposes made her a bit embarrassed. "It used to, but now I can do this with crystals."
"Hm, interesting," Sigmund said, not knowing what he was thinking.
Kaize’s eyes twitched, immediately realizing his mistakes.

"You can’t experiment on her."
"I won’t."
But Kaize held Khalifa protectively while he was there, anyway.
…
The group traveled non-stop until the sunset some hours later.
They had attracted a lot of zombies in their noise and they were exhausted.
"We need a place with a gate!"
"We’re in a town downtown, there are no such houses!" Abu, the current driver, told them as he bumped into a few zombie corpses.
A few of the men looked out to sharpen their eyes, in hopes of finding a good place to rest the night.
Cauis’ bespectacled eyes narrowed in a direction, "There, a police station!"
The Police station was at least designed to be better guarded!
They could also possibly refurbish their weapons as well. Although a lot of it should be gone by now, there were plenty of cases and deposit boxes that they could try their hands on.
They entered after blocking the entrances. Their guards were up and the soldiers cleared the place, taking down the remaining zombies inside.
They threw the corpses from the second floor before Khalifa cleaned the place they would be staying in while the rest prepared to spend the night there.
Interestingly, the small generator also had some oil remaining, so they had some electricity at least for the rest of the night.
Everyone was exhausted by the nonstop use of abilities, and their crystals—a lot of which gathered during the clearing early that morning—had been used up.
This made their current lack of crystals very stark.
Kaize, of course, didn’t miss the opportunity to harass.
So later that night, just after their short dinner, he hugged Khalifa and licked her ears.
"We only have so many crystals, and we all need them. You should save up, my love, especially when you have a very viable alternative."
Translation: Just have sex instead of using crystals.
"It’s my turn tonight," he said with a grin, "Let’s recharge very well. Ne?"
Sigmund looked at them. "Is it only one way? Only the girl can gain?"
The men paused, knowing the answer.
It wasn’t. All the men she slept with also gained power. Whenever they slept with Khalifa, their energy regeneration was higher than taking several handfuls of crystals.
The implications of this… was quite dangerous to Khalifa.
They glared at Kaize, who paled, forgetting they had a potential mad scientist in the midst.
Sigmund had low EQ, but he could still notice context clues.
"I haven’t done anything inhumane in my life."
"Not yet."
But this didn’t comfort the others. Kylo looked at the man, with a serious expression on his face.
"You can’t tell anyone." Or else they could just throw him out.
Sigmund paused in thought, and then looked at them.
"I wouldn’t have to," he said, "But you have to let me observe."
"Observe what?"
"Your coitus."
