Inside the capitol base… was chaos.

After defending for a whole day, the zombies finally got past the defense. They climbed up over each other, piling enough that they went over the wall.

What’s more, on another side, earth-controlling zombies as well as super-strength zombies destroyed a small part of the wall, and the people there could only watch the wall crumble with their hearts falling in despair.

So, even though there was only a small opening, it was enough for hundreds—with a dozen or so special zombies—to finally get inside.

The guards and sentries tried to take down the zombies that entered, and they did their best.

However, the mob was too big, partnered with a handful of special ability zombies, the amount they killed versus the people who died and turned to zombies simply couldn’t compare at all.

It was utter chaos, and as the minutes ticked by, the people delved deeper and deeper into hopelessness and despair.

.

.

ROAAAAAR!!

"Kyaaaaa!"

"Noooo!"

Chaos and anguish filled the air as survivors scrambled for cover. Many hid inside buildings, and many ran towards the more exclusive areas as the security there was tighter.

However, it was a fact that the mobs were large and the ones who ran too slowly were basically dead, especially with the upgraded zombies faster than their soldiers running after them.

ROARRR!

"Kyaaaaa!!" a woman yelled as a super-speed zombie bit her leg, making her fall down. Soon, she was massacred and joined the zombies soon after.

There were also people who had to deal with a super-strength zombie, who lifted a car and threw it at the fleeing people.

BANG!

It hit a few and blocked the way of the rest, and soon the slow-but-strong zombie got to them, opening his hand to grab people, pulling them apart before consuming them,

"KYAAAAAAAAAAA!"

"HELPPP!"

"Please don’t don’t—AHHHH!!"

More and more people fall under teeth and sharp claws, soon joining the mob, eating former allies.

In the middle of the chaos, a little girl sobbed as she was about to be eaten by her own father. She didn’t care anymore—her legs were hurt, and her heart in pain— but a gust of wind blew him away.

The next moment the girl felt lifted by a strong hand and her tear-filled eyes looked back, widening.

"Sid!" She yelled, sobbing, embracing him as he carried her to safety. Next to him was the young Jojo who was shakily throwing little embers at the enemies. While many caught fire, it wasn’t big enough to slow them down.

Fortunately, he had his plasma gun given by Hugo and he shot enough monsters, just enough so they could get into one of the buildings.

At this time, sometime during the siege, many people discovered that they had awakened their elements.

Most of these were even soldiers.

But what could they do when they had no idea how to control it so efficiently? At least not like the zombies who had instincts for it.

Furthermore, they had their hands full. Most were focused on covering the leaks, while the others tried to handle the situation inside.

Earth users tried to create a corral of sorts to isolate what they could and it worked for a while until stronger zombies came and broke the others out.

Their hearts fell and they ran, with the zombies eating other zombies to gather energy again.

One of the major differences between human and zombie users was the zombies only needed to eat weaker ones and their abilities would be replenished.

The soldiers had no choice but to abandon the plan and just save who they could and go for safer grounds.

Similarly, Sid and Jojo didn’t have hero complexes to endanger their own lives to save others. Instead, they just ran towards the nearest building to hide in.

It was locked shut, unsurprisingly, and they had to climb up through the pipes.

"Hold tightly," Sid told the girl who sobbed as she wrapped her little arms around Sid’s neck.

The two men then climbed up the pipe, using a lot of strength (and maybe some wind and fire abilities) to kick down the zombies piling up as well.

Many people saw them with power and with a plan, so they followed their leads.

The two paled when they realized this and they tried to climb even faster than humanly possible.

Fortunately, they already landed on safer grounds when—

Crack!

The old piping naturally couldn’t handle so much weight and it bent, and a lot of people climbing up fell back first.

"Helpppp!"

"Ahhhh!"

They watched as two fell down, unable to stand up. They were not only stepped on during the stampede, but the zombies that came after clobbered them up.

This happened all over the base, with people converging towards the interior wall guarded by an electric fence.

Inside these were the special accommodations for officials, including the one they owned before when Kylo was in charge, and people knew this was the safest place to be.

Unexpectedly, other than the soldiers, outside no one was allowed to go through.

"What?!"

"No, let us in!"

"No, if the interior falls, the whole base falls!" some of the soldiers declared, sternly.

"Nonono that can’t be!"

Chaos ensued, obviously, and a stampede impending to form.

Then soldiers pointed their guns at them, people fell in despair.

"NO! PLEASE LET US IN!"

"YOU CAN’T DO THIS!"

This naturally triggered a lot of righteous soldiers.

"This isn’t right!" A young soldier yelled and gestured to let people in, not caring for the orders anymore. Unexpectedly—

Bang!

The people watched the soldier’s body fall down, and the shooting soldier watched coldly.

"Insubordination—death!"

"What!!"

"Kyaaaaa!"

But, unfortunately for them, they overestimated their bearing on people desperate to live.

People fearing for their lives would rather be shot than be eaten by zombies.

Besides, it was far easier to shield from bullets than bites from a zombie mob.

It didn’t take long until the crowd broke through and more people and zombies entered the inner walls.

General Smith and Hilten themselves shot as many people as they shot zombies.

While this was ongoing, Sid and the others were trying desperately to kick down zombies who had also climbed over each other nearing where they were. Jojo kicked, shot, and threw embers, while Sid waved his weapon and used his ability to increase the wind it created.

It worked for a while. It was just that before they knew it, they had used all their abilities.

Sid couldn’t even muster a fart-like wind, and Jojo might as well light a match.

"Shit!!" Jojo yelled, his eyes widening in despair

"They’re here?!" Sid yelled, protecting the little girl for as long as he could. Soon, more and more zombies got up the roof deck, fast approaching the three shivering in the corner.

Their hearts beat loudly and their bodies shook, feeling their imminent deaths coming.

But… like a miracle, a wall of ice appeared in front of them, blocking them from certain death.

The next thing they knew, sharp thorns of ice appeared from this wall, skewering all the zombies on the roof deck.

Their hearts were still beating loudly while all this happened, but the feeling of despair transformed into one of hope.

A beautiful familiar woman walked over to them, like the angel that she was, with the fog from the ice making her approach look ethereal.

Sid’s dark serious eyes brightened while Jojo immediately burst into tears.

"KHALIFA!!"
