Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Mimic Invasion(2)

"Master Alchemy! How are you feeling?" Sapphire asked.

The sudden question caught Alchemy off guard.

"I’m fine. I wasn’t paying enough attention, and I became a mess because of it." She chuckled lightly.

"We should return to the wall. Being this close before we know what the other Mimics look like is dangerous." She continued.

"Right." Sapphire nodded.

Sapphire took the lead, and Alchemy followed behind. Her pace was rather sluggish, however.

She looked at her hands, which were covered in silver blood.

"It’s so warm." She mumbled.

’Wait, what?’ She thought as she processed her own words.

’Have I become so desensitized to killing?’

Up to this point, she’s never slaughtered another living creature with no hesitation. She at least spared all of her other victims a silent prayer, but now she was basking in someone’s... Something’s fresh blood.

The warmth from it staved off the chill running through her entire body, but the mere thought of not hating it disgusted her.

Her eyes trembled a bit, but she stabilized herself quickly.

’No. Questioning my morality is impossible right now. Come on, Alchemy. Focus on the enemies ahead and reflect on your horrible actions later. This is just a game and you’re a piece on the board. Bear with it.’ She told herself.

If she were to hesitate or break down now, she doubted these invaders would be as amicable as Gravana and Rio.

As the next enemies came out, Alchemy cracked her bloody knuckles.

Only two came out of the portals this time, and Alchemy couldn’t immediately identify them as she did with the imps.

They were lanky creatures with broad black wings, snow-white bodies, and devilish red horns. Their eye sockets were empty, and they leaned forward awkwardly.

Instead of directly advancing, they took to the sky, which Alchemy gladly followed, launching herself onto a tree and further into the skies above.

’They’re ramping up in strength quite fast. Will the Verminae be okay?’ Alchemy lamented.

While in the sky, the two devil-like creatures slashed at Alchemy, causing waves of demonic energy to fly toward her.

Twisting her body to the side, she began to speed up as she glided in between the projectiles. Although she couldn’t fly, gliding at a speed higher than her enemies was manageable enough.

With the momentum she created for herself, She closed the distance and punched the two devils in their guts before giving them an elbow to the head and sending them to the ground.

Alchemy flew down to see what kind of damage she caused, but much to her dismay, the creatures were completely unharmed.

Discombobulated and hurt, yes, but there wasn’t a single scratch on them.

Before they could recover, she Ax-kicked one, taking the chance to use her new skill and summon a couple Phantom Knifes a short distance away from her.

<Skill: Phantom Knife has been activated!>

It looked like a purple and black fracture in the air.

While the knife looked cool, Alchemy couldn’t pay attention to it because the devils had not yet accumulated any damage.

Around the same time, Sapphire arrived on the scene.

"These guys are immune to physical damage," Alchemy called out before reinforcing herself with SP.

Slamming her fist into the one who was trying to get up, it immediately pierced through his body, causing his insides to become his outsides.

<Notice: Critical! Bonus damage has been dealt to the demonic entity!>

’I thought you said all non-important Notifications were muted?’

<Notice: Criticals are important!>

Alchemy turned away from the system panel and kicked the Devil to Sapphire.

’Just keep them out of the way.’

"You need the exp more than me." She told Sapphire.

Sapphire nodded without hesitation and pierced the head of the creature with her crystal.

<Notice: An Elite enemy has appeared!>

A blood-curdling screech came from one of the portals, followed by an armored knight and its steed charging at high speed toward Alchemy and Sapphire.

It took no detours, rushing straight through any trees in its way. It wielded a lance made of molten metal that somehow kept its shape.

Worse still, it left a trail of fire behind it.

"It’s all fire enemies." Alchemy scoffed.

<Idol: Clausura Aeternum has been activated!>

She sent out her chains and followed closely behind them. She wasn’t confident in using them to stop his charge as his speed wasn’t much slower than her own.

Instead, she made her chains block the attack. Despite nothing touching her body, she felt the full weight of the charge hit against her body, but she continued forward regardless.

With the movement of the demon stopped, even if only for a moment, it was enough.

On top of her Divine Energy reinforcement, a beige aura engulfed her left hand as she slashed at the being, landing behind it.

<Skill: Phantom Knife has been activated!>

Quickly turning around, she leaped up and grabbed the knight’s helmet, slamming him against the ground and dragging him as she ran.

Her assault was unfortunately cut off early as the metal horse kicked her through a tree with their hind legs.

As Alchemy coughed from the impact of the hit, she rolled away to safety near Sapphire. The horse tried to follow but ran into one of the Phantom Knives.

The spatial fracture caused a deep gash to form on the horse’s side, revealing that there was nothing inside.

"Master Alchemy! Are you okay?" Sapphire asked as she assisted Alchemy up.

"Fine enough. They’re scaling way too fast. I really hope there aren’t too many waves of this." Alchemy sighed in response.

"And, of course, this freak has a gimmick too." She added on.

She used the system to identify their targets, and it was just as she had said.

The knight had an information panel, but the horse did not. They were one entity.

The horse began to regenerate its damaged armor at a terrifying pace before letting out another horrific scream.

<Notice: You have been inflicted with Fear!>

<Notice: Mental Destruction has trumped Fear!>

While the System gave Alchemy good news, the same couldn’t be said for Sapphire, who was inflicted with Fear(mid).

She began to shiver and instinctively took a few steps back.

"Get it together, Sapphire!" Alchemy shouted in hopes of encouraging the young deer.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work as Sapphire shook her head and continued to back away.

"N-No! Stay away!" She shouted, a column of spikes being released toward Alchemy.

The young Goddess was forced to dodge, and while her attention was turned to Sapphire, the horse and rider had gotten back together.

’Shoot. I need to deal with this quickly.’
