Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 116: Mimic Invasion(7)
"Are you okay, Mother Goddess?" Nera asked with a worried expression.
As Alchemy walked out of the hut and looked around, she gave Nera a halfhearted nod.
"Okay, enough. Just need to punch something to vent my frustrations. Have we figured out where the boss is spawning?"
Although Nera was displeased with her Goddess glossing over her emotions, she couldn’t allow petty arguments to lower morale.
"The West. Just outside the range of our territory. My Brothers and Sisters are already stationed around the portals."
Alchemy nodded before glancing at her vital stats.

<KP: 2165/2955>
"Let’s go then. How are you holding up?"
As the two began their sprint toward the Verminae, Nera shrugged.
"My SP is a little under half. I didn’t use too much in the last battle, and the Holy Water recovered most of what I did."
Alchemy raised her brow curiously.
"Eh? That giant sword seemed really costly. Was it so cheap that you could go even?"
Nera nodded.
"Out of the two skills I got, that one was the cheaper of the two. Would you like to see them?"

"Yeah, sure. About the sword as well since we’re not doing much else."

"That explains the searing pain." Alchemy overly rolled her eyes.
She had little to say about the first skill, Ultimate Slayer. Immortal Slayer was a neat trick but unrealistic to use without prep time. It lost even more value due to Alchemy’s IDOL being focused on sealing.
Seven or eight times out of ten, it’d be more straightforward to seal an immortal than kill them with such a gimmicky skill.
However, she couldn’t give the same sentiment for Nera’s second kill and weapon.
Both were extremely powerful in their own ways, especially with how strong Alchemy’s healing skills were.
If it weren’t for her current mental state, Alchemy would question why a level 1 weapon gave 60 CON, but no such luck this time.
"What about you, Mother Goddess? What was that skill you used to make the giant lose balance?"
"Oh, Phantom Knife?" Alchemy hummed, bringing up the skill window for Nera.
She’s only had the skill for a short time but was already very happy with its performance.
"Master Alchemy! Miss Nera! You’re here!" Sapphire called out.
"Just barely," Nera responded with a nod.
<Notice: Wave 4 will begin in 33 seconds!>
The portal this time was much closer to that of the initial ones, being a little smaller than Nera in her Gigant form. Unlike the others, however, it swirled with a red and black energy.
"Well, it certainly looks like a boss portal." Alchemy sighed.
<Notice: Skill Ruinous Bloom has been activated!>
Around them, the Vermiae lay scattered in preparation for an ambush. The Emberbugs and Wingrazers were hidden amongst the dense leaves while the Thornskirmishers scanned the perimeter.
The last thing they needed was more monsters appearing while everyone was focused on the mimics.
The Frostmarks stood front and center. Alchemy and Sapphire gladly joined them, with Nera standing behind them.
{Get ready! This enemy will be stronger than anything you’ve faced so far!} Nera gave a mental command to all the verminae.
"Let’s make this quick, Sapphire," Alchemy said, cracking her knuckles before lowering her body and leaning forward.
"R-right! I won’t let you down this time!" Sapphire nodded.
As the timer hit zero, the portal began to swirl ferociously, like it was becoming angry.
The first thing that emerged appeared to be a large black wood cross brace with a string attached to something on the other side of the portal.
The rudimentary device puppeteering device yanked at something from the other side of the portal. Before it could successfully grab whatever it was, Nera gave the command.
{Fire and then change locations!}
The Emberbugs launched their attacks in unison before scattering in all directions. Despite how chaotic it looked, none of the overgrown insects hit into each other or chose the same firing spot.
Unfortunately, before any of their attacks could hit the wood, a thin barrier halted them, causing Nera to click her tongue.
"Bosses have iframes. Really?" Alchemy lamented.
Nera was about to give a second command when Alchemy put her arm out.
"Wait. Puppet-type monsters tend to use control and other manipulation skills. Let me probe it first. Just back me up for the first while."
"Yes, Mother Goddess."
"Alright, Master Alchemy!"
As they finished talking, the marionette crossbar finally seemed to get whatever it was pulling at unstuck as it began moving further from the portal.
Alchemy didn’t even wait until she could fully see what kind of creature was coming out. The moment she saw the tip of its body she darted forward at her top speed, reinforced by both SP and KP.
