Kirigakure Gamer : Rise of the mist-Chapter 43: Operation Hydra (6)
Chapter 43 - Operation Hydra (6)
[Island of Steel, North Coast]
[Level 68 Kumogakure Jonin - Yugito Nii]
"Out of all kumogakure shinobi, I had to meet this freak", Takeshi spat as he could only watch from a distance the blond-haired woman slowly losing control. A terrifying aura appeared on the field, cuasing Yukiko to watch in horror, red chakra envelopping Yugito.
Chakra sensors were more sensitive to chakra, and their aura. Tailed beasts, as their name indicated, were one of the wildest forms of chakra that existed. Naturally, Yukiko was affected even more. For some reason, Takeshi resisted the ailment
[Fear status resisted]
It was weird, but ever since he had transmigrated, Takeshi had never experienced fear. No matter the situation, even when meeting a jonin for his second mission or being ambushed in the North Coast, he had always managed to keep his cool.
And even now, in front of a tailed beast jinchuriki, he was not even experiencing goosebumps.
He ignored why. It is not like he was bold or anything. In his previous life, exams made him anxious, not to mention life and deaths situations.

He was not delusional either. He did not believe that the system would allow to resist death status, or reincarnate again.
Looking at the side, he could see that Naya was getting the upper hand in her own duel. As for Yukiko, she was losing all sense of self, completely overtaken by fear of this red, evil chakra.
He could only count on himself, and his puny 30% of chakra reserves left to deal with a jinchuriki.
He, a mere level 38 chunin, was aiming at surviving a level 68 jinchuriki.
30 levels were not a small number.
It was an overwhelming difference.
One that could not be so easily bridged.
Yugito, however, was still young. Most of her strength did not come from techniques, but from her overwhelming vitality and chakra reserves coming from the bonus of being a host to a tailed beast. Her skills, by all means, were far inferior to Takeshi. Both ninjutsu-wise and kenjutsu-wise, she could not deal with him. More chakra made her dangerous, but without proper high-proficiency jutsu, Takeshi still held a chance. He was not your average mid-chunin. He was someone who had been rated as 'low jonin' by the Kirigakure ANBU watching over the battlefield.
Knowing that letting Yugito transform into a two-tailed mode would result in crushing defeat, Takeshi swiftly moved forward as he analysed the situation. A small red-coloured tail of chakra had already formed, and Yugito's eyes had become cat-like, and were glowing in an ecarlate colour.
The transformation taking most of her attention, she could not react in time as Takeshi used his strongest jutsu.
It was not [Azure Stream], despite his liking to it, or [Water Shuriken], which he had practiced so much.
It was a close-range kenjutsu technique, one which he had been learning partly from the Haze Dojo
[Haze Kenjutsu 12th Form: Fog Arclight Guillotine]
It was a strike that had one aim: beheading the enemy. It consumed a large amount of chakra, one of the reason why the style was not very efficient. Most Kenjutsu specialists walked this path because of their lower chakra affinity, whereas the style mixed in both ninjutsu and swordsmanship.
However, it was the perfect style for Takeshi.
Unlike others, he possessed both [High Affinity] in Swordplay and Ninjutsu. In the future, they might even exceed that, and reach unreachable realms of strength.
An explosion reverberated on the battlefield.
Takeshi had gone all out on this attack.
And it connected.
[You have dealt 1050 points of damage]
[You have inflicted bleed ailment]
[You have inflicted rage ailment]
[Target is losing control...]
It had not been enough.
Yugito had managed to block the strike with one of her arms. It had flown in the air.
[Target has been inflicted with [Amputed] ailment...]
[Target has lost significant strength attribute...]
[Target has entered extreme rage ailment...]
Within a split second, Takeshi leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the swipe of a clawed hand coated in crimson chakra. Her nails had been turned into deadly weapons, coated in red chakra.
Yugito's roar echoed across the battlefield, shaking the air around them. The first tail of chakra whipped violently, tearing into the rocky ground. Her one-tail transformation was complete.
"This is bad," Takeshi muttered, his grip tightening on his sword. The blade trembled slightly from the force of his last attack. His chakra reserves were running low, and Yugito's strength was only increasing. Wrost still, he looked at the logs.
The system notifications blinked in his vision:
[Target's vitality is regenerating]
[Target's chakra is surging]
He did not need the system to see that. Her wounds were closing at visible speed, and her body sent chakra waves that warned the very survival instincts of his soul, the density unlike anything he had sense before. Actually, only the Sandaime Mizukage had made him feel like that when he had caught him lurking in the Kirigakure Academy Library to steal jutsus.
Takeshi's attack had landed, but it wasn't enough.
He stepped back, analyzing the battlefield.
Yukiko was still paralyzed with fear, overwhelmed by the oppressive energy, genins closing in. Naya was unsurprisingly holding her ground in her own fight. After training with her and previous missions, she had grown into a trustworthy companion. Still, the jonin facing her was no small fry.
'Black lightning, huh...', Takeshi analysed, 'Looks like I will have to handle this myself'
Yugito's glowing, cat-like eyes locked onto him.
Her lips curled into a snarl.
"You dareow to challenge me?" Her voice sounded distorted, layered with the growl of the Two-Tails
"Not like I had a choice," Takeshi said, keeping his tone calm. He moved quickly, forming a series of hand seals. Water droplets from the air gathered around his blade.
'Water Style: Azure Stream Jutsu [C]'
The water-enhanced stream of pressurized water condensed out of thin air as he charged. Yugito's claws lashed out, but the projectiles were faster.
[You have dealt 212 points of damage]
[You have dealt 212 points of damage]
Yugito stumbled, but her transformation continued.
The second tail fully formed, and her chakra flared even stronger. The ground around her melted from the heat.
Takeshi gritted his teeth and stayed on the move, dodging her wild attacks.
Each strike she made left deep craters in the ground, but with each brute strike, he managed to land critical blows iteratively.
"She's losing control," Takeshi muttered, glancing at Yukiko.
She was in grave danger
Despite her outstanding performance, she had been affected too much by the aftermaths of his own battle.
A chunin had thrown an explosive tag and could not barely react to it.
*BOOM*
It was a shame but he could not afford to help her.
He turned his focus back to Yugito. "I need to finish this fast"
He darted to the side, throwing shadow shurikens as he moved. They hit her chakra cloak but dissipated before reaching her skin.
They weren't strong enough to deal damage, but they kept her attention divided. Takeshi studied her movements, looking for an opening.
He prepared for a risky move, channeling his remaining chakra into his blade.
