As a major clan producing a consistant batch of jonins each generation, it was no surprise to see some of them in the Kirigakure's most prestigious ANBU units.

No matter how you saw it, though, Kirigakure was currently no match for Konohagakure. The difference in individual strength was just massive. The difference in bloodline was just massive. The difference in number was just massive. The difference in economy was just massive.

And it showed.

Takeshi understood that Ten was the tenth strongest person of the Capture division, currently a squad of fifteen, sixteen including him. The tenth strongest person was like a blank sheet. She exuded an icy aura and looked dangerous, but Takeshi's senses were sharp enough to see through her artificial appearance.

Months on the battlefield honing his bloodlust perception and killing dozens of Kumogakure shinobi on the island of steel had changed him from a regular young shinobi to a veteran of war. What he experienced in a couple of months were experiences that most never returned from. And it was worth more than hundreds of D-rank missions on the borders or escorting merchant convoys. This was a different kind of experience, the kinds that made legendary figures such as Hashirama and Madara, experiences that pushed your body and soul beyond what they were originally designed for.

Seiryu's proposal was almost insulting.

It seemed like he wanted to test him against Ten. He wanted to see if Takeshi was worthy enough to join his division and be depended on. Unlike other swordsmen of the mist, Seiryu did not have a right hand man. And he saw it as an opportunity. If Takeshi was talented enough, Seiryu planned on training him accordingly.

I overestimated the Mizukage...I thought his position in the village was cemented, but the man is scared. The clans have a growing influence, and the ANBU corps are the only resources he truly possess. Still, I never thought he would give in to the caprices of the seven legendary swordsmen of the mist...]

To join the Capture division, you were recommended by the Sandaime Mizukage, but Seiryu aims at getting a true disciple, someone to assist him the same way the other division commander/legendary swordsmen's right hands do. Due to his belligerent and rude nature, most capable seeds avoided his division, causing him to only get average jonins for subordinates. He used his influence to get a favour from the Mizukage: yourself. Ten, the Yuki jonin, aims at proving at Seiryu her worth, having grown a fascination for the captain of the Capture division.

Before Takeshi began the duel, he asked straight to Seiryu: "Am I allowed to kill my opponent?"

The words sent a chill throughout the public. Even if they were from a bloodthirsty division, they were from the same village, from the same unit.

Seiryu frowned below his mask: "No. We are from the capture division, and I aim at testing your ability to capture. The same goes for you, Ten"

"Understood", Ten immediately replied, her confidence slightly shaken before Takeshi's crude words.

As soon as the signal was made, Takeshi dashed forward and unsheathed his katana. The wave of chakra exceeded anything he was capable of before.
