Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 54
Only the sound of rain continued between them until a response came. For Yujin, even just a few seconds of silence felt like torture. Just as the pain and guilt from that time came rushing back and he felt on the verge of tears, Winston finally spoke.
"It was just the price of foolishness."
That was all. It wasn’t, Yujin wanted to say, but the words wouldn’t come out.
"Winston, I..."
He barely managed to speak, but couldn’t continue. The look in Winston’s eyes pinned his tongue like a stone.
"......No matter what I say, you won’t believe me, will you?"
Yujin asked powerlessly, shoulders slumped. Winston let out a short laugh. With a twisted smirk and a furrowed brow, he openly mocked Yujin as he spoke.
"Sweetheart, I saw it with my own eyes."
Seeing something with your eyes doesn’t always make it the truth.
Yujin tried to speak again but gave up. Between him and Winston, it felt like there was a massive, impenetrable wall. Winston would never believe him. Just like he said — he’d seen it “himself,” “directly.”
"......Okay."
That was all Yujin could say in response.
"You’ve taken your medicine now, right? Then I’ll really go. Get some rest."
He said it mechanically, stiffly, and turned to leave the room, only to stop mid-step as something came to mind.
"Angie’s fine. She had some soup and fell asleep again. She was thankful you came to check on her."
He was just stating facts, but Winston didn’t accept them so easily.
"Even though she started crying the moment she saw my face from a distance?"
Still snide and biting. Yujin responded with as little emotion as possible.
"That’s because of your scent. Angie is terrified of your pheromones. She says it feels like her whole body is being crushed."
Winston’s face shifted from mockery to confusion, as if he couldn’t understand. Of course he couldn’t. This was probably the first time he’d ever experienced something like that. Yujin continued, calmly explaining.
"If you don’t want her to cry in fear when she sees you, just get rid of the scent. Extremes Alphas can do that, right? It’s voluntary when you release your pheromones whenever you want."
He had said everything he needed to. Yujin finally said “Good night” and left the room. There was nothing more he could do or say. If Winston needed anything, he’d call for the butler.
That’s what he told himself — and yet, Yujin ended up lingering on the other side of the closed door for a long while. He was anxious that he might hear an ominous noise from Winston’s room again, but all that reached him was the gradually quieting rain.
What am I even doing?
Feeling disgusted with himself, he returned to his bed but couldn’t fall asleep for a long time. Once resurfaced, the memories refused to sink again. The sound of Lady Campbell’s voice cursing Yujin while clutching her dying son rang louder in his ears than the rain ever could.
Their lips had just barely touched, then parted again as the two stared blankly at each other. For a moment, they didn’t understand what they had done. It wasn’t until a few seconds later that they realized — they had kissed.
Startled, Winston gasped and backed away, while Yujin covered his mouth with both hands. They stared at each other with wide, stunned eyes. The light spilling from the annex lit their faces, both burning red.
"I-I mean, um, this is..."
Winston was the first to speak, but he couldn’t form a sentence. While he stammered, flustered, Yujin just rolled his eyes and looked at him in silence.
"......I’m leaving!"
In the end, Winston chose to run. He spun around in a panic, scrambled onto his horse, and just as he kicked off, Yujin snapped out of his daze and shouted.
"Winston!"
At the sound of his name, Winston pulled the reins and turned around. Yujin, who had taken a few steps toward him, stopped and asked:
"You’ll come again... won’t you? Right?"
Yujin’s voice was filled with anxiety and fear. He sounded scared that he might never see Winston again. Seeing his face, Winston couldn’t hold himself back — he jumped off his horse and rushed straight to Yujin.
Smooch. This time, the kiss was firmer. Winston pulled Yujin into a tight embrace.
"Of course I will, Yujin! I’ll come again. I promise I will!"
His voice was full of conviction, and Yujin, hesitantly, raised his arms to return the hug. Their hearts pounded against each other like they might explode. Winston tilted his head slightly and kissed Yujin again. Their lips met and parted, again and again, with gentle smooching sounds.
Suddenly, he felt the urge to run away somewhere with Yujin. He didn’t want to be apart — not for even a second. He wanted to be alone, just the two of them, in a place where no one else existed.
"Come tomorrow, okay?"
Yujin whispered, reluctantly letting go of him. Winston replied “Alright,” cupped Yujin’s cheek, and kissed him again. Finally managing to tear himself away, he climbed back onto his horse. This time, Yujin didn’t stop him — instead, he waved. Winston smiled, as if to say “don’t worry,” and rode back toward the main mansion.
He didn’t ask about his father...
It wasn’t until the mansion came into view that he remembered. But right now, it didn’t matter. The important thing was that Winston had kissed Yujin. And that Yujin was unbelievably adorable.
I’m going to marry Yujin.
No one saw as Winston returned the horse to the stable and slipped back into his room. Lying in bed, he let his imagination run wild. He pictured them exchanging vows and rings. His heart felt like it might burst. Smiling from ear ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) to ear, Winston soon fell asleep.
Yujin appeared in his dream. His pale skin was tinged pink as he sat on the bed, waiting for Winston with just a sheet wrapped around him.
Come here, my husband.
Yujin whispered shyly, slowly lowering the sheet — revealing his rosy-pink nipples. The sight made Winston’s head spin. That’s when he woke up... and realized he had soaked his underwear.
It was his first wet dream.
"A charity party?"
Yujin asked, startled by the news he heard first thing that morning. The butler nodded and explained.
"Yes. You’ve both been invited, so you must attend. Someone will arrive this afternoon with clothing and accessories. If you don’t find anything you like, we can have another person come tomorrow."
The flurry of instructions left Yujin blinking in confusion. A party? That hadn’t even crossed his mind. Memories of the nightmare that was the wedding reception resurfaced, draining the color from his face. The butler noticed his reaction and asked.
"Is something wrong, sir?"
Yujin barely held back the urge to retch and opened his mouth.
"Um, is it... not possible to skip it? I mean, what if I say I’m unwell or something..."
"You must attend."
The butler crushed his last hope without hesitation. Yujin’s face filled with despair as he listened to him continue.
"You won’t be able to refuse these events forever. It’s better to get used to them. If you attend just this once, you might be able to make an excuse and skip the next one..."
The second part offered a new kind of hope. Yujin latched onto the hint and asked cautiously:
"So... what you’re saying is, since I can’t skip them all, I should show my face once or twice and then make excuses to skip the rest?"
The butler didn’t answer, but Yujin had understood correctly. Considering the man’s position, he couldn’t openly say not to attend. Even this much help was enormous.
"Thank you, Cain."
He offered his genuine gratitude. The butler brushed it off lightly and changed the subject.
"Angie woke up earlier and is looking for you. Would you like to have your meal in her room?"
"Ah, yes. I’ll do that."
Yujin quickly got out of bed and suddenly remembered something.
"Um... how’s Winston? Is he doing better?"
He couldn’t help the heaviness in his chest as he recalled Winston’s pain the night before. The butler answered in the same calm tone as before.
"He went to work."
"What? What did you say?"
Yujin was so shocked that he raised his voice without realizing it. The butler’s expressionless face came into view. freewebnoveℓ.com
"Today is a weekday, and it’s his usual workday. He left earlier."
"...No way."
Yujin muttered blankly. The butler continued.
"Unless Mr. Campbell is in a particularly extreme condition — like falling into a sleep after a rut — he doesn’t miss work. He’s gone to the office even in worse shape than this."
If Yujin hadn’t seen his condition the night before, he wouldn’t have worried so much. But the image of Winston in agony kept flashing through his mind, and he couldn’t shake the unease.
"I went to Winston’s room last night and saw him collapse."
He reluctantly confessed. The butler remained silent, waiting. Yujin continued, carefully.
"He could barely manage to lie down on the bed. I brought him his medicine and watched him take it... It was that medication for Extreme Alphas, right? Then the effects must be intense, but he took five pills..."
"That’s a significant reduction."
Yujin, trying to voice his concern, was cut off. The butler’s tone remained calm and businesslike.
"In the past, when an attack like yesterday’s occurred, he would take an entire bottle in a day. Five pills is a great improvement. He’s going to get better. There’s no need to worry so much."
He added monotonously:
"As you know, the regenerative abilities of Extreme Alphas are unmatched compared to other types."
And yet he’s still like that... How bad must it have been?
Though the butler seemed to be trying to reassure him, Yujin only felt more uneasy. The last time he saw Winston five years ago, he had been walking with a cane. But at the time, he had assumed it was simply because he hadn’t recovered yet after the accident.
To think he’s still in that condition now.
"It was just the price of foolishness."
Winston’s words echoed in Yujin’s ears. The price of loving Yujin had been far too steep. That was probably why Winston hated him so much. The betrayal had cut that deeply.
"Sweetheart, no one knows better than I do how filthy a slut you are."
Yujin stood still, blankly replaying Winston’s words. Those furious golden eyes glaring at him still lingered vividly in his mind.
