Kissing My Student, It's Over if We're Caught-Chapter 1Volume 2 .5 - Takagami Yuzuka - Regrets in Life: Unrequited Love
Takagami Yuzuka – Regrets in Life: Unrequited Love
“Then, let’s begin the regular student council meeting. As I informed you earlier, Hashima-sensei is here to observe the student council today. …Hashima-sensei, would you like to say a few words?”
“Ah, just a bit—I’m Hashima, the modern Japanese literature teacher who joined this spring. The principal told me to observe today’s meeting to better understand the school. It might be uncomfortable, but I’m really just here to watch. Please go ahead with your meeting as usual. That’s all.”
The students give a light nod, but only the secretary, Kana-chan, applauds and welcomes me warmly.
The other officers look puzzled.
“I’m sorry, President. Was I supposed to clap?”
“…Um, it was a bit unexpected for me too.”
“Eh! Did I mess up?”
As Kana-chan panics, a laugh break eases the atmosphere. It seems to be going well.
“Let’s refocus and start the meeting,” says Kirihara, leading the discussion.
From what I researched beforehand, the student council’s responsibilities seem to fall into three major categories: planning and managing school events, handling money and supplies, and overseeing various club activities.
Today’s meeting is about discussing the operation of the upcoming cultural festival next month.
It seems we’ve successfully received a donation for operational costs from the parents’ association again this year. The mock shops at the recent school introduction event were well-received, and there were no incidents. It’s expected we can do it again next year.
“As usual, for the autumn cultural festival, we’ll accept participation from students and parents interested in applying, as well as students from other schools. We can’t go overboard, but we need to avoid a lackluster atmosphere. We aim to promote effectively, right on the edge! Occasionally, we get some unusual proposals from classes, but if they seem interesting, we might be a bit more lenient with permissions this year.”
“Like last year, the ‘Water Gun Survival Game’ using the pool was rejected, but is it okay this year?”
“Probably not. …Personally, I think it’s fine as long as it’s safe. It sounds fun.”
Kirihara calmly handles the officers’ inquiries like this. While she mostly speaks as the president, her personal opinions make the discussion quite enjoyable to listen to.
What a commendable student council president… I can’t help but feel impressed, almost like a parent watching their child’s class.
“Oh, right.” Kirihara seems to remember something.
“Speaking of cultural festival-related things, I have a suggestion—maybe we could incorporate a school-wide cleanup during the next vertical integration activity time. …What do you think?”
“Oh, I see. Are we combining this with the discussion about recruiting students for the pre-festival volunteer cleanup?”
“Yes. This way, it wouldn’t feel unfair. It’s faster if everyone does it together rather than a few volunteers rushing around for internal points. I’ve already gotten permission from the teachers.”
Really, Kirihara’s proposals are always efficient. She’ll make an excellent office lady in the future.
It was indeed a convincing meeting.
After the meeting, everyone except Kirihara and secretary Kana-chan quickly left.
Kana-chan always stays to finish the minutes, and Kirihara checks them. In the meantime, Kirihara finishes other paperwork.
“That’s why I’m closer to the president than the other officers!”
“I see. But staying late all the time must be tough.”
“Not at all! Actually, I get to learn from the president, especially since I’m terrible at math…”
“I see, I see.”
Actually, I don’t need to be in the student council room any longer. I missed my chance to leave because Kana-chan kept talking. But I don’t have any other work today, so it’s not a problem.
If the minutes are completed soon, I’ll have a chance to talk with Kirihara alone, so I stay engaged in the conversation.
(tln : minutes refers to the official written record of the discussions and decisions made during a meeting.)
“Actually, I’ve been really curious about you, Hashima-sensei!”
“Is that so?”
“Yes! It’s rare for a young teacher to join, so all the girls in the class are super interested! Hashima-sensei, have you been called handsome?”
“…I don’t recall being told that to my face.”
“Really? Do you have a girlfriend?”
“No. Not at the moment.”
—In fact, I do. And she’s in the same room.
In fact, I’ve been feeling a piercing gaze since a while ago.
While appearing to be immersed in paperwork, she occasionally glances this way.
…Is she internally furious? I hope not.
“Wow…! So, Hashima-sensei, you’ve just become a teacher, right? If you’re not used to it, do you get nervous around girls?”
“If there ever was such a situation, wouldn’t I only be able to answer ‘No’?”
“No, but somehow! This is a secret just between us!”
“Kana-chan!,” says Kirihara, cutting into the lively conversation with her cool voice.
“I understand you’re excited that Hashima-sensei is here, but you’re being quite rude. Plus, Kana-chan, you’re an officer of the student council. The impression you give off reflects on the student council as a whole. Do you realize that?”
Caught off guard, Kana-chan stumbles over her words. Visibly, she deflates.
“…I’m sorry. And Hashima-sensei, my apologies. I got a bit carried away.”
“I don’t mind. Sorry, Kirihara. I made you scold her on my behalf.”
“No need to apologize. …Kana-chan. In half a year, including me, the second-years will retire. There’s a high chance you’ll become a key officer like president, vice president, or treasurer, so please be mindful.”
“Yes! I’ll be careful!”
With that, Kana-chan energetically raises her hand in acknowledgment. She seems like a quick adapter.
“By the way, are the minutes ready?”
“Done!”
“Really!?”
I’m surprised. She was talking the whole time, but she was also working fast.
“I’m quick with my hands. Did I impress you?”
Proudly, Kana-chan takes her laptop over to Kirihara for review.
After checking the minutes, Kirihara nods.
“Good work. We’re done for today. I can’t walk you out because I have something to discuss with Hashima-sensei regarding class. Sorry.”
“Understood! Hashima-sensei, please come visit us again! Is it okay if I call out to you when I see you around the school?”
“…Sure.”
“Thank you! Then, I’ll be excusing myself!”
tln : kekw, i love seeing yandere vibes of Kirihara
