Let’s Make A Magic Tool

We returned to the mansion in the royal capital.

This was so we could start making the magic tool in Philly’s laboratory.

Kathe and Dorgo also came to the mansion in human form.

Kathe said hesitantly,

“Uh, Locke…”

“What?”

“I would like to watch you make it…is that alright?”

“Oh, I don’t mind…what about you, Philly?”

“Of course, I don’t mind.”

Philly said. Kathe wagged her tail happily.

“You can watch too, Mister Dorgo.”

“Thank you. I am very interested in this.”

They had shown us very valuable resource material.

And we would be creating something based off of that, so of course, we would share the results.

Milka was also in Philly’s laboratory.

“Master! I want to watch too!”

“I don’t mind. What do you think, Mister Locke?”

“Of course, I don’t mind.”

“Yes!”

Milka seemed to be very interested in the making of magic tools.

But it wasn’t something a novice could just understand by watching.

Still, it would be good for her to at least get a feel for it.

If this awakened an interest and she wanted to continue learning, then that would be wonderful.

First, Philly brought up a blueprint for the general construction.

“Locke, what do you think?”

“Let me see…”

It was quite detailed. It also had suggestions for the necessary magic to use.

On the other hand, I talked about the principals of magic and made my own suggestions.

“In that case, I think this kind of magic circle should be used.”

“I see. In that case…”

It was surprisingly fun to talk about this.

I felt that we would be able to make something very good.

After talking for a while, Philly declared,

“Yes! Now it is decided!”

“Yay!”

Milka said excitedly.

I turned to Dorgo.

“What do you think, Mister Dorgo?”

“I think it would be wonderful if you succeeded.”

He said this as if he wasn’t completely convinced that we would.

Kathe looked at me seriously.

“I don’t think you can really do it.”

“We can just think of another way if we fail.”

“That’s true.”

Apparently, they both didn’t think it would work.

The wind dragons were good with alchemy, and they found the method that Philly was planning on using to be very difficult.

“Well, I understand your concerns, but I hope you will watch us.”

Philly said with confidence.

As we all watched, Philly started to create the magic tool. This meant creating the materials first.

Orichalcum and Mithril. She used magic stones a small amount of the Philosopher’s Stone.

I also used magic at different times during the process.

I carved in the magic circles with precision.

After about an hour, the magic tool was complete.

“I think it turned out quite well for our first try?”

“Yes. It is good for a prototype.”

Philly and I said as we rested. Kathe was shaking.

“Lo-Locke. And Philly… Can I see it? I mean…can I touch it?”

“Go ahead. It’s just a prototype.”

Kathe and Dorgo stared at it obsessively.

Next to them, we continued to talk about it.

“I think this part should be changed…”

“Yes. There is definitely room for improvement.”

There were things we learned from doing this for the first time.

Dorgo looked quite shocked as he inspected it.

“Why this is… This is of higher quality than what we make.”

“Surely, you exaggerate.”

“Not at all. I am very impressed with this. I did not know such a thing was possible.”

“It was very educational. Thank you.”

Dorgo and Kathe thanked us.

They were probably just flattering us, but it was nice to be praised by wind dragons who knew a lot about alchemy.

And so Philly and I returned to work.

It took another whole hour. But this time, I was very satisfied with what we had made.

It was a bracelet.

When you put it on, it used the flow of magic within your body to raise your mental resistance.

“No Vampire High Lord will be able to cast Charm on you if you wear this.”

“Hmm. Yes, I am quite happy with this.”

Serulis would be safe if she put this on.

As I thought this, Philly said,

“Now… There was something I was thinking about while making it… If we simplified this part and replaced the materials with cheaper stuff…”

“We could mass-produce them?”

“Well, not that much. But perhaps we could make enough for a medium to large team of soldiers…?”

It would be weakened if you simplified it. But it would still be enough to stop a Lord’s Charm.

If we made more, we could give them to soldiers, knights and Adventurers.

Dorgo heard this and opened his mouth after thinking for a little while.

“In that case…”

He was the old king who was could at alchemy, after all.

He suggested a way we could make these while maintaining the quality as much as possible.

Kathe and Milka stood at the side and nodded.

Philly thought about and said,

“In that case, we will need much more mithril. And magic stones, if possible…”

“Alright. We’ll do something about that.”

If we could produce a lot of them, it would give us a great advantage in the battle against the dark ones.
