Mors and Danton

I asked Kathe as she played with Grulf.

Kathe. Have you introduced Mors to Danton yet?”

“Oh, not yet.”

“I see.”

And then I turned to Mors.

“Please follow me. I would like to introduce you to Sir Danton Woolcott.”

“Yes. Thank you.”

As I started to walk, Mors called me with an apologetic voice.

“Um, Mister Locke.”

“What is it?”

“It’s probably very insolent of me to even ask this of you, but…”

Mors said.

Then he asked me to talk to him more casually.

“Ah, but you are my instructor now, Mister Mors…”

When I said this, Kathe opened her mouth and let out a boisterous laugh.

“But you don’t talk to me like that. And I am the ruler of the wind dragons. So it’s no surprise that Mors would feel awkward. Don’t you think?”

“Really?”

“Yes. Besides, the water dragons see you as a great hero, Locke.”

“They’re exaggerating.”

Mors heard this and declared in an enthusiastic voice.

“It’s not an exaggeration at all!”

“I-I see…”

Kathe grinned and said,

“I suppose so. In any case, I think they’ll be very angry with Mors when they find out he’s been forcing you to speak to him like this.”

“I don’t think so.”

“…Yes. They definitely will.”

Mors agreed quietly. But then he quickly added,

“But! Mister Locke, you must, of course, use whatever you are comfortable with!”

If Mors would get in trouble because of it, then I suppose I could change the way I talked to him.

“In that case, I will be less respectful.”

“Thank you. I hope it’s not a problem?”

Mors said apologetically.

“No, it’s obviously much easier.”

“Thank you!”

Mors said with visible relief.

And then we headed for Danton’s room.

Grulf led the way as if it were the most natural thing. His tail proudly pointed upwards.

“Grulf, you want to lead us?”

“Groof.”

I had an idea where Danton was.

He was likely in the chief’s room.

Grulf sniffed the air and advanced slowly.

“Mister Grulf. Thank you.”

“Groof!”

Grulf’s tail wagged as Mors thanked him.

And then Grulf stopped in front of the chief’s room.

So Danton was here after all.

“Thank you, Grulf.”

“Groof!”

I patted him on the head. Grulf’s tail wagged happily.

When that was finished, the door opened from the other side.

Danton looked at us.

“Ah, Locke. I was wondering why you wouldn’t come inside.”

“Sorry. I was just petting Grulf, since he escorted us all the way here.”

“Ah, well. That is important as well.”

Danton said with a nod.

Beastkin had good noses and ears.

He had known we were behind the door all along.

And then he had become tired of waiting and come out to greet us.

“Groof!”

Grulf pressed into Danton.

“Good-good.”

Danton petted him as he looked at us.

“And who is this?”

“Mister Mors. A water dragon. I brought him here to introduce him to you, Mister Danton.”

“I am Mors. It’s nice to meet you.”

“Danton Woolcott. I am one of the beastkin chiefs. Please come inside…”

After these introductions, he invited us into the room.

At the same time, he ordered for someone to bring us some tea.

And so we sat down.

Grulf sat next to me and rested his jaw on my knee.

Grulf liked both Danton and Mors, and was able to relax around them.

Mors quickly bowed.

“Thank you for all the help you have offered us water dragons.”

“No, thank you for giving us such a treasured sword…”

Mors and Danton thanked each other.

When it seemed like they were finished, I said,

“By the way, about why Mors came here. He is going to help me create the magic tools that will be installed in this mansion.”

“Thank you so much for that.”

Danton bowed his head to Mors again.

There was a possibility that someone who had been ‘Charmed’ by a vampire had infiltrated the settlement.

And so we would create tools that could detect them.

With Mors and Dorgo helping me, I believed I could make something truly spectacular.
