Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!-Chapter 176: Why Did She Hide It from Him?
She deliberately pointed to the marks on Annelise’s body and said, "Annelise, are these marks left by a man? Tell me quickly, which man is it? Did you encounter a jerk? If you did, don’t be afraid, I’ll stand up for you!"
"No! Just leave!"
Annelise’s voice was icy.
Sylvia laughed coldly at the corner of her mouth.
She said to the doctor, "Quick, first treat these wounds on her body."
Outside the room.
Elias Warner heard Sylvia’s words.
Last night, he was indeed punishing Annelise, being a bit overbearing with her.
Thinking back, he had some regrets.
But at that time, he was enraged by Annelise.
He just wanted to possess her completely.
He wasn’t sure how severe her injuries were.
Did last night’s rain chill her, causing a fever?
He shouldn’t have lost his temper; he should have let her get into Uncle Ford’s car to drive her home.
"Click!"
The door opened and closed again, Sylvia frowned and walked out of the hospital room.
"Elias, I...I feel there’s something I need to tell you!"
Sylvia pretended to be worried and pained.
"Her body is covered with marks left during her encounter with a man. I suspect it’s a jerk!"
"Her whole body?"
Elias took a deep breath, the thought suffocating him.
"Yes, her whole body is, it pains me to see her like this. My brother took her home yesterday, but I didn’t expect he would... Annelise, it’s just so insensitive of him. No wonder my mom always said he’s not meant to have a wife!"
Lucas Lowell?
"Elias, you won’t be angry, right? I know my brother likes Annelise. But why they... played such thrilling games, I don’t... I don’t understand!"
"So, what are you trying to express by telling me all this?" Elias continued, "Don’t think I don’t know what kind of trick you are playing! I’ve warned you before, how have you acted?"
"Eli...Elias..."
Sylvia’s heart suddenly sank.
She had a bad premonition. Could Elias know something?
"Just now, you asked Annelise to try on the dress, so the dress was tampered with by you, right?" Elias questioned coldly.
"No...no!" Sylvia denied.
"No? Are you sure it’s no?" Elias approached Sylvia.
"Fine, I admit it’s me, but do you think all you’ve done for Annelise is worth it? Just now I had the doctor examine Annelise. The doctor said she has given birth!"
"What did you say?" Elias was shocked.
"I said Annelise had a child, and it was with Chase Perry! Can you accept all this?"
"What do you mean by that?" Elias asked knowingly, just fueled by his resentment.
"I know, last night it was you who left those marks on Annelise, not my brother. I admit, I am just jealous, but it’s all because I love you! I can even accept you keeping Annelise outside, but what I just told you is true. I had the doctor examine her, and accidentally discovered she indeed had a child, so I’m telling you the truth!"
Elias was astonished.
The woman in front of him was indeed terrifying!
"By doing this, you still consider yourself her friend?"
Sylvia laughed coldly.
"So you never treated her as a friend from the beginning?"
Elias had known that Sylvia merely used Annelise all along.
"Elias, you probably don’t know, right? Ever since Annelise stopped being the Winter Family’s heiress and started degrading herself, where in the social circle would she have any friends? I was the one who didn’t mind and became her friend originally, I’ve been good enough to her!"
"Shut up!"
Elias turned and left.
Sylvia pursed her lips and sneered.
So protective of Annelise?
Then let’s see to what extent he can go for Annelise; just now she informed Elias that Annelise had a child with Chase Perry.
"Elias, don’t forget, I am your fiancée!"
Sylvia shouted towards the direction Elias was leaving.
Elias did not pay any attention, returning directly to the hospital room.
Inside the hospital room, Annelise lay quietly on the bed, asleep.
She looked haggard and frail. It seemed the autumn wind outside the window could carry her away.
Elias held Annelise’s hand, feeling both love and hatred.
What Sylvia had said pierced his heart like a dagger.
He had asked her if she’d had a child.
She said no.
But why did she deceive him?
Why?
Elias’s tightly clenched fist bulged with veins, hitting the hospital wall.
Annelise had a nightmare and woke up frightened.
In the dream, someone was trying to take Luna from her.
When she opened her eyes, she found Elias standing in front of her bed.
"Did you come to see Sylvia? She’s already left!"
Her dry lips squeezed out weak words.
"I’m not here for Sylvia, I’m here for you!"
Elias hesitated to speak, wanting to ask her about the child.
Just now, he had confirmed Sylvia had asked Jane Carter to help her examine, this Jane Carter, a leading figure in obstetrics and gynecology, very experienced, indeed not an ordinary obstetrician.
Her words always carry great authority.
She said Annelise had a child, then Annelise must have had a child.
Annelise got up, ready to leave, but felt dizzy again.
Elias Warner stepped forward to support her.
"There’s nothing more between us, the money I owed you, I paid it off last time!"
Annelise Winter took a few steps back, keeping her distance from Elias Warner.
"Is that so? Then tell me, have all your words to me been the truth? Have you not hidden a single thing from me? If you deceived me, that’s still a debt you owe me!"
Elias Warner stared into Annelise Winter’s eyes.
He wanted to see her reaction in her eyes upon hearing this.
Annelise Winter felt a pang of anxiety. Did Elias Warner find out about Luna’s identity?
Impossible!
"No... no!"
From Annelise Winter’s reaction, Elias Warner had already seen through her lies again.
With a cold laugh, he took a deep breath.
"Let’s go, I’ll take you back to the apartment!"
Annelise was taken aback. She felt that Elias had seen through her lies.
But thankfully, he didn’t continue to ask. If he had continued asking about the child, she feared she wouldn’t be able to hold it together.
It’s good that he just said he’d take her back.
She got up, put on her shoes, and followed Elias Warner out of the hospital room.
They approached Elias Warner’s car.
She didn’t want to take a taxi, worried about Elias. She didn’t know if his stomach was better after drinking last night.
But now it seemed he was fine.
Sitting in the car.
Neither of them spoke.
Elias Warner glanced at Annelise Winter.
He originally planned to keep her deception to himself and never ask again.
But he just couldn’t let it go.
He had already asked once before.
He wanted to ask one more time.
Even though he knew, each time he asked, it was like hurting himself.
But he just couldn’t help but ask.
The entire drive back to her apartment, he couldn’t focus on driving, constantly debating whether to ask her again.
Until they arrived at the apartment and the car came to a stop.
He still couldn’t muster the courage to ask.
Annelise noticed Elias hadn’t spoken the entire way, feeling he had become quite a stranger to her.
Since that day she spoke those words to him.
Surely, Elias must hate her now, and wouldn’t want to have anything to do with her anymore, right?
Annelise went to open the car door.
The door was locked with a "click."
Annelise frowned and glanced at Elias, did he do this on purpose?
Elias Warner thought if he didn’t ask now, it would be even harder to ask her in the future.
Or perhaps if he doesn’t ask today, he wouldn’t be able to sleep well ever again.
"I’m asking you, is there anything you’re still hiding from me? Tell me the truth!"
Elias Warner’s sudden question stunned Annelise Winter.
She glanced at Elias in surprise.
What on earth had gotten into this man?
"From the past to now, is there anything you’re hiding from me?"
He asked again, his voice trembling.
The air seemed to thin after he asked the question.
"No!" Annelise declared decisively.
He let out a cold laugh, his eyes filled with chill.
He had never felt so sorrowful, deeply trapped in despair.
Why lie to him so cruelly?
He scoffed.
These were things he could easily find out with a snap of his fingers, he just hoped she’d say something honest to him.
Since when did this small request turn into a luxury?
"Get out!" Elias Warner said coldly.
Annelise suddenly stopped moving in the car.
She seemed to sense a change in Elias’s expression.
There must still be a sliver of feeling for her, otherwise, he wouldn’t have come to take her home today, nor would he ask what he just asked.
Why did he care so much about whether she had lied to him?
And so after what she said, he couldn’t suppress his sadness.
Annelise’s heart ached.
She would rather be the one living in sadness and pain, not dragging another person into it.
She had endured it for five years.
Every day and night felt like living in darkness with no light in sight.
How could she bear to drag someone else along?
Elias, I’m sorry!
She thought to herself and then spoke, "What are you hoping for? I’ve already told you, my feelings for you were all fake, it was just for fun. I’ve long stopped liking you, no, I should say, I never liked you at all!"
"Huh? Are you deluding yourself?" Elias Warner wasn’t backing down.
"Deluding myself? Elias, if you didn’t have feelings for me, then why did you sleep with me? Shouldn’t you feel disgusted to touch me? Unfortunately, when you touched me, that’s exactly how I felt—utterly disgusted!"
"You feel disgusted? Annelise? How could you say that?" Elias’s mouth twitched.
She felt disgusted by him?
"Why shouldn’t I say it? You know, Elias, you’re just too boring, just as you are today, always boring!"
