Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!-Chapter 191: Visiting Him at the Hospital
"Where is Elias Warner’s ward? I’m heading over right now. I’m already at the hospital entrance!" Annelise Winter had summoned all her courage before turning back.
She felt that she should face her own feelings.
Caden Lynch was surprised; he hadn’t expected Annelise to suddenly return.
But Elias Warner’s fiancée was still in the ward. Should he tell Annelise?
"Um, Annelise, maybe you could come to see him another day?"
Caden felt that having Annelise come over at this time, where the two rivals would meet, would definitely make things awkward for Elias Warner.
He didn’t want to get involved in such disputes.
"What’s going on? Did something happen to Elias Warner?"
Annelise was very nervous.
Otherwise, why wouldn’t Caden want her to see Elias?
"No, it’s just... Elias is temporarily inconvenienced right now!" Caden stammered.
Annelise felt that Caden was lying to her. The more he hesitated, the more worried she became.
Since she was already at the entrance, she might as well take a look.
She directly hung up the phone and headed towards the second floor of the ward.
Caden, seeing Annelise hang up, anxiously paced around in the hallway.
He had no choice but to return to the ward.
Sylvia Lowell was pestering Elias Warner about the engagement.
Seeing Caden return, Elias coldly said, "I have a friend here now. If you have nothing else, leave quickly!"
Sylvia didn’t dare to act out and directly exited the ward.
But Sylvia did not leave.
Seeing Sylvia leave, Caden awkwardly said to Elias, "Elias, there’s something I must tell you now. Annelise just came to the hospital, saying she wants to see you. What do you think?"
Elias frowned.
Annelise coming to see him stirred unspeakable emotions in him.
If she didn’t love him, why come to see him? Was it pity and sympathy for him?
"Elias? What are you thinking?"
Caden pressed on; the situation was already urgent. Annelise was about to arrive.
"Don’t mention Annelise again. If she comes, then let her come!" Elias, although reluctant to bring up Annelise,
had complex emotions inside.
He hadn’t seen her in many days.
Even though she had said many heart-wrenching things to him, he still thought about her hopelessly.
On the day of the accident on the cruise, he had thought he might never see Annelise again.
If he could spend more time with her, even just seeing her from afar would be enough.
He hated himself for being so pathetic.
"But Elias, your fiancée hasn’t left, and Annelise’s arrival might cause a fight between them. I’m not going to mediate between women."
Caden suddenly realized this could be very troublesome.
"They’ve known each other for a while; don’t worry!"
"What? They’ve known each other for a while? Elias, what’s going on here? Can the current and the ex coexist peacefully?"
Caden was taken aback.
"You’re mistaken. There’s no emotion between me and Sylvia Lowell; she’s a family-arranged partner. I won’t marry her, even if I don’t marry Annelise."
Elias explained briefly.
Caden instantly understood.
"These family issues are really troublesome, sacrificing your marriage for alliances is terribly sad. But why won’t your family agree for you to marry Annelise? I think Annelise is great in every way, way prettier than Sylvia Lowell."
Caden praised unreservedly.
But he was indeed sincere; Annelise was truly beautiful, even more so than the photos in Elias’s wallet.
"Ha, but now it’s just wishful thinking!"
"Elias, I think you both have a misunderstanding! Why are you so lacking in confidence?" Caden shook his head.
Suddenly, he felt that Elias was a bit of a romantic fool.
"Don’t just listen to what she says; talk when you see her!" Elias felt Annelise wouldn’t come to see him.
Thinking of Annelise’s determined expression made him deeply sad, and he couldn’t imagine her wanting to see him.
Now, in the corridor
Annelise had already reached the corridor and happened to encounter Sylvia Lowell.
Sylvia was quite surprised to see Annelise.
"Annelise, why you? Why are you here?"
Sylvia was astonished.
"I’m here to see Elias Warner!" Annelise’s face showed no expression, but seeing Sylvia made her heart feel like it was being pierced.
Were Elias Warner and Sylvia Lowell together?
"Get lost! Annelise, if you have any conscience, you should stay away from Elias Warner! Haven’t you harmed him enough? You’ve already made him suffer like this, and you still come to provoke him!"
Sylvia grew angry at Annelise’s actions.
Annelise didn’t deserve Elias Warner’s kindness towards her.
"Annelise, Elias returned; if he hadn’t, I’d want you dead!" Sylvia fiercely continued, "And you still owe me a million. Just do as I say, leave from here, and I’ll forget about that million as a favor to you. That million is probably an astronomical figure for you, but to me, it’s just a bag or a dress!"
Tears glimmered in Annelise’s eyes.
She indeed felt guilty.
But she had her dignity.
For her, this one million was indeed a lot, but she was not someone who casually owed others money without repaying.
She had already transferred the one million to Sylvia Lowell’s account.
"The one million of yours, I’ve already sent it to your account long ago. You should check it when you get back!"
Annelise Winter continued to walk forward.
She was blocked again by Sylvia Lowell.
"Annelise, what do you want to do? Now that Elias Warner has finally moved on, do you want to cause him trouble with your appearance? If you still care about your child, you’d better get out of here immediately, or I’ll make sure you and your child regret it. You’d better roll back to your mountain ditch and stay there!"
When Sylvia mentioned the child, it surprised Annelise.
Sylvia actually knew about Luna’s identity.
"Sylvia, do you think I owe you? You’re well aware of why you got close to me and became my friend over the years. I don’t owe you. Back when you were bullied in school, who protected you? When those punks were chasing you, risking my life, who saved you? Have you forgotten all that?"
Annelise stared at Sylvia.
It seemed both of them were back in their school days.
Sylvia was once chased by those punks into a dead end where they wanted to rob her; if she didn’t comply, they threatened to take her nude photos to blackmail her.
Annelise jumped in, disregarding the knife-wielding punks, and saved Sylvia.
Yet Sylvia seemed to have forgotten all of this.
Although after Annelise fell into hard times, Sylvia had sent her many luxurious items, back when she was the heiress of the Winter Family, she had likewise gifted Sylvia with many luxury goods.
"All of this was voluntary! Did I ever ask you? Annelise, I despise your selfless facade. Who are you pretending to be noble for?"
"I can’t be bothered with you; your heart is dirty, so everyone seems dirty to you!" Annelise pushed Sylvia away and prepared to head towards Elias Warner’s hospital room.
"I won’t let you meet Elias! Just give up on it!"
Sylvia knew that now Elias Warner no longer had any extravagant hopes for Annelise.
If Annelise suddenly appeared in front of Elias now, Elias might reignite his interest in her.
By no means could she let Elias meet Annelise.
"Sylvia, you’re just worried that once Elias sees me, he’ll ignore you completely, aren’t you?" Annelise sneered, "Sylvia, do you think love obtained through scheming is reliable?"
Sylvia was struck at her sore spot.
"What nonsense are you talking about, Annelise?"
"Talking nonsense? Ask yourself if it’s nonsense. Sylvia, such calculated manipulation—even if Elias marries you, do you think it’ll last? Someday, you’ll end up divorced! I feel sorry for you. Has your life come down to just an alliance? You don’t deserve Elias Warner!"
Sylvia’s face turned red with anger.
Indeed, she was thinking of pinning Elias Warner down with an alliance, even if Elias didn’t love her.
But she had never been so insulted before.
Sylvia stepped forward and slapped Annelise hard across the face.
"Slap!"
A loud sound echoed down the hallway.
Annelise clutched her cheek.
She glanced at Sylvia.
She didn’t expect Sylvia to dare hit her.
"Slap!" Annelise slapped Sylvia in return.
Sylvia was stunned. This was the first time anyone had ever hit her.
Ever since she was a child, she was always spoiled and pampered.
No one had ever hit her.
"You, Annelise, how dare you hit me? You bitch!"
Sylvia raised her hand, aiming for Annelise’s face again.
Annelise quickly stepped in, slapping Sylvia hard again.
Another loud slap landed firmly on Sylvia’s face.
Though Sylvia received another slap from Annelise, she still stood her ground near the path leading to Elias Warner’s room.
"Annelise, I suggest you go and take a good look at your daughter!"
Annelise frowned.
She stared into Sylvia’s eyes, seeing the provocation in Sylvia’s gaze. Her heart sank, wondering if Sylvia had done something to Luna.
She glared at Sylvia, "Sylvia, you’re despicable!"
Sylvia ignored Annelise’s insults. Her goal was to get Annelise to leave.
Sure enough, after Sylvia spoke, Annelise left.
She felt that even if she continued to entangle with Sylvia today, she might not be able to see Elias Warner.
So she left first.
She sent a text message to Caden Lynch.
Returned to the villa.
Uncle Ford was with Luna, having dinner.
Upon seeing Annelise, Uncle Ford breathed a sigh of relief, and Luna happily rushed towards Annelise, hugging her tightly.
"Mom, you’re back? I missed you so much!"
Luna said with a grievance.
"Mom’s back, my darling, I missed you too!"
Annelise also missed Luna a lot. While at the overseas villa, she thought about seeing Luna every day.
But unable to find Elias Warner, she felt most guilty towards Luna.
In Luna’s heart, Elias Warner was a good father.
But she had lost Luna’s good father.
"Where’s Dad? Why are you back, but Dad isn’t home?"
