Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 31: Draval
With their enhanced eyesight as awakened they could see something moving beneath the sand even through the dark veil of the starless night.
It was coming towards them and it was coming fast. " Continue." He ordered those who were gathering sand.
He and Viona stood forward ready for whatever was coming. Near the cave entrance stood more warriors with guns.
Their guns were aimed at the desert below ready to provide support at any moment. The creatures drew near with each passing moment.
20 metres, 15, 10, then something jumped out of the sand lunging at him with a wide open mouth.
It was a clicker, he stabbed his spear into it head killing it immediately. A second later more clickers jumped out of the sand.
The sand exploded beneath them, had they been normal people this would’ve blinded them.
Viona’s great sword turned red and shined like a beacon under the night sky. Of course this did not matter to the blind clickers.
They attacked both of them and some tried to attack the people collecting sand. Guns blazed killing them.
Each bullets pierced through their bodies as easily as a hot knife through butter. He spun his spear.
Each swing taking off the head of a clicker. He didn’t leave his position as he was protecting those standing behind him.
Unfortunately he couldn’t use his spell to put them under an illusion since they didn’t have eyes and his ability was an ocular one.
As of yet it was still very limited in it utility but it would get stronger alongside him. While fighting the clickers he had to admit they were tenacious.
No matter how many of them they killed they just kept coming. However unlike the first time.
He didn’t even need to use divine energy, compared to him they were as weak as insects.
Slow and unrefined, even if they came in droves he could easily slaughter the whole of them.
The same went for Viona, now together plus the support of the warriors, the clickers never stood a chance.
After killing so many of them that they formed a hill next to him he realised something he missed before.
Some of the clickers were running around them and ignoring them. Infact less and less were coming their way.
However this did not fit the usual nature of these creatures. They were savage, fearless and saught nothing but death and destruction.
They were always in hunger so they would try to kill any living creature they see. To prevent them from killing each other.
The sick bastard who created them made it so their flesh was deadly poison to another clicker.
That was so he could have a relentless army that wouldn’t destroy itself. However Khali had to admit the strategy was very effective.
He told Viona his observations, she nodded apparently having noticed that too. He wondered how she could be so smart in things like this but so dumb in everything else.
He told the others to run back inside and so they did. He and Viona ran back to the cave as well.
However just as they were about to get in, a pillar of earth rose from the ground beneath their feet.
It sent both of them flying back through the air. Below them the sand exploded and out came a massive dragon like creature.
It lunged at the two of them who were mid air, realising that dodging would be hard they kicked against each other and dodged to opposite sides.
He landed on the sand and rolled a few metres then stood up and faced their new enemy.
Khali looked at this creature and didn’t recognise it. He couldn’t tell if it was a monster or a beast but he was certain it’s what caused the fearless clickers to run.
It was four legged with sharp claws, it entire body was covered in black bark like armour like burnt wood.
It eyes were small and on it head were two horns coming out on either side of it head and pointing forward like spears. It had a long tail that had a spear like end.
It head looked dragonic and it obviously had the earth affinity which was a trait of the earth dragons amongst the dragon family and the creature was around 4 metres tall and over 7 metres long.
’ Is this a corrupted earth dragon?’ he couldn’t help but wonder. It gave the disgusting stench of monsters but it earth magic was pure.
Monsters could also use elements but they always had a different feeling. Like they did not belong in this realm which they didn’t and they didn’t exactly use mana.
What they used was called dark mana or demon miasma. However this creature could clearly use mana.
It was a peculiarity. " Draval." He heard Viona whisper with a bit of fear and excitement.
She gripped her great sword tightly with both hands. The flames around her sword grew higher lighting up her surroundings.
The draval turned it head and looked at her, it stomped it foot on the ground and she jumped up to dodge it attack.
However no attack came, she landed and looked at the ground with confusion.
" NOOOOOOOO." She heard Lucy screaming from the cave entrance.
She followed her eyes and saw an earth spike piercing through Khali’s heart. Unlike Lucy she didn’t react as drastically.
She saw no blood and as expected that Khali disappeared into smoke. He reappeared a few metres away.
" That was a tricky move." He whispered with amusement. Viona couldn’t help but grin and Lucy looked relieved.
" I’m so glad you’re alive, I still have a lot to learn from you." Khali’s mouth twitched. " Is that the only reason you were worried."
Lucy coughed, " O.. of course not." She looked to the side refusing to face him. " Has anybody ever told you how great of a liar you are?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
" No?" She replied honestly. " Makes sense." Then he turned to the draval that was facing him.
It sniffed in his direction then growled. " I see, so you can smell my divinity? Interesting."
It was obvious this creature would mostly make him it target. Unfortunately he didn’t have enough power to take it down.
It was a rank 2 draval and it species looked like it was stronger than other creatures of the same rank.
It stomped the ground and before he could react, an earth spike rose below him and pierced through his stomach.
