Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Scaring the Draval

It turned it head towards them, " Do not move." He told Viona who looked like she was ready to jump at it.

" It might be partially blind but it should be able to see sudden movements." He told her, She clicked her tongue in response.

" Yeah I know." She replied, before he could say anything else she started chanting. He sighed and shook his head.

She knew very well that none of her spells would be able to harm this creature. It was just a waste of mana.

After she was done chanting, a tornado of fire appeared below the draval. The sand melted and it body started to sink.

When it body was halfway under, the flames disappeared. It roared and sank further, voluntarily this time.

" Grenade." He shouted, one of the warriors took out a grenade and threw it at him. He looked at it and shook his head.

It was a caltrop grenade, " Not this one, the new ones." The fastest warrior ran back to Sam’s workshop and came back with 12 black spheres the size of a baby’s head.

She ran to him but stopped just before touching the sand at the edge where the rock of the mountain base ended.

Unlike him, she didn’t have a mirage clone to deceive it senses. If it sensed her vibrations and attacked.

She was certain to die. He could see that she was hesitating and her eyes flickered with fear.

" Throw it." He outstretched his hand towards her. She threw the bag with the grenades at him.

He took one out and grinned, these are the ones he had prepared for the forest and ended up not using.

They were packed with condensed gun powder which was mixed with more fire mana stone powder.

Their explosive capacity was very high. He had tested one before and knew their power was above anything either he or Viona could dish out.

They still weren’t at the level of a rank 2 spell or technique but they should do better against the draval than him or Viona.

While he would love to flung these things at the stupid creature, unfortunately his right arm was deeply wounded.

He could barely use it, the arm refused to even more more than a few centimetres. While he could use both arms just as well.

He still needs the other for balance if he was going to throw something. ’ Human bodies are very inconvenient.’

He threw the bag at Viona, he planned to use himself as bait then she would use the grenades.

He started running, he saw the sand rise, something was swimming towards him. It was moving really fast.

Much faster than it could above ground, in only a few steps it caught to him. He jumped forward and rolled on the ground.

The sand exploded behind him and the massive creature appeared. It stomped it massive stubby foot at him.

He dodged then rolled again expecting an earth spike to attack him however it never came.

He was confused then Lucy cleared his doubts. It seemed she too had knowledge of this creature.

" Don’t worry it’s out of mana. Dravals barely have any mana at all, they could only use their spells a few times a day.

Don’t underestimate it though, it’s still very much a rank 2 creature with impervious skin."

Khali couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows,

" You sound quite knowledgeable, perhaps you should be the teacher."

He replied while dodging the attacks of the draval. Lucy shook her head. " It’s common knowledge, I’m more surprised you didn’t know that."

Everybody including Viona nodded agreeing with her. He clicked his tongue, " Viona now." He shouted.

Viona didn’t hesitate which for unknown reasons hurt him. She threw the grenade straight at him.

He didn’t dodge, it went through him and hit the draval chasing him. He was only a mirage clone.

The grenade exploded. The night lit up as flames blazed over 10m to the sky. They spread melting the sand for over 40 metres around the centre of the explosion.

A shockwave spread out creating waves of sand taller than he was that spread in every direction for hundreds of metres forcing them to run away from it.

The draval was sent crashing on the sand and rolling like a small hill for tens of metres before coming to a stop.

The power of that explosion by his estimate could equal that of a peak rank 1 or 5 mana nodes.

The dust and smoke cleared. A crater over 40 metres in diameter appeared. He appeared next to Viona.

" You didn’t hesitate." He whispered not even looking at her.

She shrugged, " You told me to throw it."

" Yeah but you didn’t even hesitate and threw it straight to my face."

" That’s because I had trust in you, I know you wouldn’t endanger yourself like that."

She tapped his shoulder and started walking forward. He stood still for a moment processing what she just said.

" Are you implying I’m a coward?" He followed her.

" No, I’m just saying you value your life a bit too much, I knew that was a clone."

He clicked his tongue unable to refute that. Lucy called out to them telling them to use that opportunity to run back to the cave.

However they both shook their heads, this thing had earth attribute. Although from his observation it was sand control than usual earth.

It was still an earth attributed creature and could probably make the entrance to the cave larger if it wanted or cause the entire cave to fall on them.

Right now they have pissed it off, it won’t rest until they’re dead so the only thing they could do is scare it away.

As expected it stood up and glared at them with rage. As a defence type creature, that attack was not enough to wound it or even cause a scratch on it tough skin.

However it should’ve hurt it, in his long life he had learnt a lot. Like that defence type beings rarely suffered wounds, naturally.

However because of that they rarely have to feel pain unlike others. So even though the attack wasn’t enough to leave a visible wound.

It force should’ve been strong enough to cause a bit of pain internally, it should scare this draval. As expected. Although it was angry it stood and watched them cautiously.

Seeing them approach it without fear, it hesitated then decided to try it luck and charged at them with eyes blazing with rage.

Khali ran up to it, it opened it mouth to devour him and when it did Viona threw the grenade.

With it poor eyesight it barely saw the grenade plus Khali standing Infront of it drew most of it attention.

He disappeared into smoke just as it was about to devour him, by the time it came to it senses it was too late.

The grenade went into it mouth and exploded. The explosion caused it to reel back in pain.

It opened it mouth to cry and blood poured out like a flood. It looked at them with fear then dove under the sand and ran off.

When they were sure it was gone, everybody sighed with relief.
