Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 125: Test?
In what seemed to be an empty hall filled with different scrolls and books. Darius found himself wandering about; he was trying to find a way out of the hall and look for something else.
He looked front and back, trying to see if he would spot anything that would give him the sense of direction he needed at the moment, but there was nothing.
It was an endless corridor of scrolls and books.
"I don’t seem to understand what I am doing here, but it feels like I am going to be lost for the meantime."
He sighed, not knowing what he was to expect from the whole thing.
He kept walking when suddenly he felt something from behind him.
It was like someone was trying to sneak up on him; Darius didn’t waste time to turn and block the attacker.
"Who in the world—"
He paused when he saw a familiar face; it was the old Basilisk Sage.
"Slav?"
"Keh-Keh, I see you’re no longer dull on senses like this!"
Slav said before sending a powerful shockwave, Darius, our young warrior, was pushed back.
He fell like a rag doll; he managed to get his footing back when he looked at Slav ready to strike him.
Gritting his teeth as he looked at the Basilisk Sage. "I don’t know what is wrong with you, but I am going to—"
Slav was already in front of him at top speed; it wasn’t even enough time to gather his thoughts, and there was someone in front of him.
Darius dodged his attack, and not wasting any time, he kicked Slav in the stomach, sending him flying in the air.
Darius took a look around, and he saw the shelves of books there. Using his telekinetic abilities, he threw the shelves at Slav, who effortlessly dodged them.
A smile was registered on the Sage’s face, his eyes locked on Darius as he prepared for another attack. It wasn’t going to be something he would even want to avoid this time.
"I want you to know that there is nothing going to save you from me." Slav was fast; it was as if he was on a different level of speed each time he got closer to Darius. He didn’t even hesitate to land blow after blow on him.
Darius didn’t know what or why Slav was attacking him like that, but he was sure that it wasn’t something he would want to know.
Darius looked around and saw that the only chance he was going to get to survive Slav was if he didn’t let him land an attack that would take him out.
Slav used his own abilities to pull our young warrior closer; once Darius was close to Slav’s reach, he pulled him by the face and began slamming him around.
"You have to be one lousy fighter; no wonder Deliri had a good time taking you down." Slav swung Darius across the room, spoiling half of the shelves in their way.
"I thought you would be a challenge for me now that you have Kurgon fused in your soul. But it turns out that I was wrong..."
Slav lofted Darius up using his ability, a nasty grin on his face as he hung the warrior in the air.
"You shouldn’t think of this as payback, but I wanted you to see that even when I am dead, I still make it hard for you to breathe the same air I breathe, but then you can’t seem to get it in your brain."
Slav began crushing Darius slowly; he was looking at the warrior.
"Even with Kurgon in you, there is no improvement?" Slav was looking at Darius.
"How pathetic," He was disappointed with what he was seeing; there was nothing to show him what Darius could do or what he was capable of.
"I wonder how you managed to beat me. Well, all I can say is that in this state you would never even last against the other three children of the Abyss. You might as well kiss your sister and friends goodbye when next you face one of those beasts."
Darius struggled to break free from the hold, but there was nothing he could do.
"I want to let you know that I am the one holding you, and you are in my chains. There is no escape for you, and there will be no way for you to even think of facing any other enemy."
Slav tightened his hold, looking Darius straight in the eye.
"If it were Urus you faced instead of Deliri, then it means you would have died. I don’t know what you think you are doing, but there is no point for you to even try anymore."
He flung Darius across the room; our young warrior didn’t even have the chance to gather his thoughts to attack again.
He looked up to see Slav walking towards him; the look on his face was cold.
"Just give up; your abilities are wasted on you, and there is no need for you to even carry the great powers of chaos."
Darius looked down, his heart beating fast as he tried to calculate what he was going to do next.
"The main reason you are still alive is because, for some reason, the gods are having a hard time putting you in your place. I would have told them to do things to you."
Darius was pushing himself up; he was looking at the floor, and he could see what Slav was saying.
’Even with all the power flowing in me, I am still weak... How am I going to be able to do anything to protect the people I love if I am too goddamn weak!’
Slav was in front of him; Darius could feel the overwhelming difference here. Almost like Slav grew stronger than the last time he was him.
"You have my powers within you, boy, the knowledge I had passed on to you, and you don’t even know what you would be able to do with the powers. There has to be something you will see to understand that there is no way for you to even fathom what lies ahead."
He leaned closer to Darius and whispered, "So tell me, boy, are you going to give up? Or are you going to keep trying to be something you aren’t?"
Darius was still looking down; he didn’t know what he was going to think of at the moment. His mind was filled with different things that he might do to escape the horrors waiting for him.
’He’s right, I can’t seriously be the one meant to defeat all these foes. I am only one person; all these foes are enemies who can destroy the world if they wanted to but they are all grounded’.
Darius didn’t know what he was going to be able to achieve.
’Lets face it, I am not the type of person to—’
"Big brother?"
Darius was surprised when he heard what turned out to be Lena’s voice; he looked up to see Lena in front of him.
He wasn’t only seeing Lena; Theo was there, and so were the other members of the guild, Liu and Keith.
"You can’t give up here, Darius; we all are waiting for you to get to the end and win."
Theo walked close to Darius and leaned forward.
"All of us are waiting for you to win and make sure that there is nothing going to happen."
"Yes, big brother, we know you are going to be able to beat all of them."
Lena moved forward with a smile on her face; Darius couldn’t understand it, but it was clear to him.
They were the people that gave him hope; they were the reason why he would keep fighting even if it meant that he was going to lose his life.
All of them...
’That’s right, I am not fighting only for myself.’ He staggered as he got up on his feet, looking at Slav. It was like he was ready for a fight; he was not going to let him win.
"I fight for Lena, Theo, and the guild." He looked up, gritting his teeth; he wasn’t going to back down from the fight.
"Huh?"
Slav raised an eyebrow as he looked at the young warrior, no longer seeing the weak man he had observed moments earlier.
"What, did I strike a nerve?" He smiled, walking close to the young warrior; he lifted his hand and was about to strike.
"You should know that there is no way for a human like you to toy with the divine and expect to survive. You will always be nothing but a human!"
Slav was about to strike when, out of nowhere, Darius blocked the attack; he wasn’t going to let him get another hit on him like that.
"Slav, I should thank you." Darius smiled; he was pushing himself up with all his strength.
"For?" Slav asked, looking at the young warrior.
"Everything!" Darius yelled as he delivered a powerful blow to the sage’s groin.
