Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 131: Why Are You Always Smiling?
Darius knew that there was no way for him to get anywhere or even do anything with his teammates if none of them knew a little about him.
’You seem to trust him a lot to even think of trying to tell him about yourself.’
Azree was trying to see if Darius would shine some light on the situation and why he would even think of telling anyone about his powers.
Darius was looking at Theo, quiet but his mind going through a lot of things.
"He already knows a little about it, but I have not yet told him anything about the dragon kings or the fact that the power inside me is something that can end the world as we know it."
Darius, looking at Theo, made up his mind; there was no way he would even think of letting anything hold him back.
"I need to let him know even if it is up to the children of the Abyss, I need someone other than you to talk to."
’What if he doesn’t understand?’ Azree asked; his question was sharp and strong.
Darius paused; he knew that there was a possibility that Theo might even try to do something dumb.
"I don’t know; I can’t say anything until I try, can I?"
He didn’t know if he was going to be able to handle certainties that he harbored, and it wasn’t because of the power or what he knew.
It might just be something else he couldn’t control, and it wouldn’t be funny if it was going to be what would bring an end to their friendship.
Theo walked back to the living room; he had seen Michael and Raya off, leaving Darius alone for some time.
"Why does your face look like that?" He had a brow raised; looking at Darius, it was clear that there was something going on.
Darius stood up, he walked to the other counter and took papers, and he didn’t want to waste time there.
He began drawing things on the pieces of paper.
Theo didn’t say a word; he just stood there trying to pace through everything.
Darius finished his drawing, looking a bit happy that he did.
’First of all, you are a terrible artist. Secondly, are those scribbles meant to be the dragon kings?’
Azree mocked Darius, not even giving the young warrior the chance to explain what he was trying to do there.
Ignoring Azree, he was looking at Theo with a smile on his face.
"So what do you have to say about all this?" Darius laid down some of the drawings on the table. Theo was looking at it a bit confused, not knowing if he was even meant to be that confused.
"What in the world am I looking at here?" Theo was trying to get his head around what he was even looking at.
Darius took a deep breath; he had waited for Michael and Raya to leave before he would even think of doing something like that.
"The last thing I want is secrets between both of us, since you are practically my brother now."
Darius was looking at the papers in front of him; he didn’t see Theo’s reaction when he called his brother.
"So you see me as your brother?" He was smiling, trying to hide it, but there was no way for him to do it completely.
Darius turned to him; he couldn’t shake off what he had said, and he saw how it made Theo happy.
"You don’t need to be all mushy about it; please pay attention, Captain."
Darius pointed at the paper; in every way he could, he was trying to tell him what his powers were and why it was necessary for him to understand, even if it was one person.
"Around 11 months ago, I was trying to gather enough money to make sure that my sister would be treated. I didn’t have enough cash, so I joined some men on a raid."
Theo was looking at Darius as he kept trying to explain something to him.
"I don’t understand why you are telling me all this."
He was looking at Darius; the warrior’s actions were a bit weird, but it was like he was getting somewhere with all he was saying.
"I am getting there. You see, when we entered the dungeon, there was something odd about that place. It wasn’t even a normal dungeon; it was the first uncharted dungeon I entered, and there was no way for me or any of the other warriors to even react. We were taken by surprise, and then..."
Darius brought out another picture; he didn’t know what he would be getting himself into.
"It was then that we figured out that we might be dealing with something that was way beyond us; for the first time in my life, I saw an SSS-ranked monster, and it was also the first time I had to face it alone."
Darius brought out another paper; it was the picture of the basilisk. But due to his bad drawing, it wasn’t accurate; it looked like scribbles, and there was no clear view of what it was.
"We saw a Gorgotian Basilisk; that monster was what almost took my life, but then it was what brought us together, and it was also what gave me my powers, or let’s say it’s the reason I gained my powers."
Theo was looking at Darius; he knew that much, but then there was no way Darius would be trying to tell him nonsense, but then...
"I am going to be honest with you here; I don’t know what is going on in the pictures or how I am going to be able to understand it." Theo scratched his head.
"You already told me during our first mission that you don’t know the source of your powers. And I didn’t even dig much into it; you told me all you could about it."
Theo was looking at Darius, trying to see if he would get him to say what was going on in his head. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Your drawings aren’t helping either; your dragon looks like an armadillo, and the statues... Can I even call them that?"
Darius was a bit weak; he didn’t know what he would do to help Theo see what he was trying to tell him.
"Argh, if only there was a way for me to show you everything and not be stuck trying to explain it to you." Darius lay back on the ground, his mind woozy from the explaining he had been trying to do.
Suddenly the screen popped up in front of him...
[Notice: Memory Transfer—Kurgon created an ability to help the host in his moment of desperation.]
Darius smiled, jumping up. He turned back to Theo, knowing that he was going to be able to show him everything.
"Please, I would love to tell you that whatever you see is real, but for now it’s only a memory of mine. I know it’s going to be overwhelming, but I would love it if you kept an open mind with all of it."
Theo was surprised; he didn’t know what it was that would even make Darius feel that he would get angry about something like that.
"Nothing is going to make me angry with you; if it is not something wrong, then I have no right to get mad."
Theo was trying to get through to Darius; it wasn’t easy, but then he was doing his very best to be on the same track with him.
Darius swallowed, looking at Theo. He knew that there was no other way, but he was going to try and make sure that nothing would go wrong.
He placed his hand on Theo’s head, looking at him.
"Brace yourself..."
He muttered, closing his eyes.
[Transfer Process Beginning!]
Darius’s hand let out a jade glow; he didn’t move, and the next thing Theo felt was himself being drawn into a dimension.
He didn’t know what he was going to see, but then he saw it...
Everything Darius had been through alone, from meeting the Dragon Kings in the courtroom of the celestial to facing Slav and almost dying.
Then he saw the gruesome trial of fire, the place that tested Darius as a human.
He saw it all; it was something no one would have explained to him easily.
"What is all this?" He was shocked; looking at it, he could see what was going on and how Darius always found a way back on his feet.
Even when it looked like he was going to die, he would get back up and try harder...
Theo saw everything that Darius was carrying alone and the burden given to him, the reason why he was so strong. He was given a power that would look like a gift to others, but it was indeed a curse.
"Why then?"
He asked, looking at the memories. He clenched his fists and could see Darius’s face.
"Why are you always smiling like there is nothing wrong?"
