Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 155: Strains And Slashes
Darius was looking at Vertu, trying his best to stand on his feet, but the pain he was getting in his chest was unbearable. Like a million needles piercing into his body, burning as he could hardly keep his eyes open.
"What is this?"
He muttered, looking at the being in front of him, his body couldn’t hold up, and he could feel the fading strength of his.
’You are putting more strain on your body by the passing minute, Darius,’ Azree spoke up, his voice laced with worry, trying to see if it was going to be possible to talk to Darius, but then...
Vertu bolted for our young warrior, almost like a split of dark light moving toward a target.
Vertu plunged his spear into Darius’s left arm, but before the spear could hit the arm set up a protective shield, trying to make sure that Darius didn’t get hurt.
"Ahh, such a little party trick." Vertu used a tentacle trying to hit Dariu,s but our young warrior blocks the attack with one of his swords, taking a step back.
"You are one fast warrior!"
Vertu didn’t even waste time striking Darius back, but he was struggling to hold his legs up.
Darius looked at Vertu, and he knew then and there that he was going to have to make sure that there wasn’t a chance for it to strike it down.
He placed his hand on his chest, seeing that the pain was something he could manage to push through and look for a way to make sure that he would take down the beast in front of him.
The dark, space they stood in had nothing to hide behin,d and catch his breath, and he was going to be fighting to control his breath and stay conscious.
"Azree, is there a way for me to get through this?"
He asked, his eyes still on Vertu, who kept launching attacks that he evaded, pushing aside with all he had.
’Non that I know of, but I am sure that if you look into Slav’s library, you will find something that would help you get it down.’
Darius was looking at Vertu, letting out a sigh. His body began glowing again, as he dashed for the beast at top speed.
Both of them clashed, and the space they stood in began shaking from their collision and their raw energy.
Vertu was moving water in a container with his spear, trying to shatter Darius’s head with the spear. Each hit was precise and direct, both of them moving like they were one with the battlefield.
’You need to be careful; if you use your powers to an extent, then it would cause you to collapse.’
Azree warned Darius, trying to get him to reduce the way he used the attacks, and Darius was only using his blades to slash through the attacks Vertu was sending his way.
"Is this really what the mortal who bested Slav can offer?" Vertu mocked; he was trying to hit Darius with all he had, and it was clear that he wanted to get back for all Urus had said to him.
Darius smiled, in pain but not letting it hold him back, and wanted to make sure that he was going to fight the demon with all he had.
"You’re funny, you know that,t right?" He used Voidweaver to send a powerful slash for Vertu; the blow was enough to stun Vertu for a while.
A blow made from raw strength and speed, Vertu looked up to see that Darius was trying to hide his pain, but he felt it, and there was no hiding it.
"You think that there is a chance I would let you win this?" He asked, his spear dragging across the floor as he walked to Darius.
Darius scoffed as he stood up straight, trying to focus on using his physical strength to overwhelm his opponent and not use his mana-based attacks.
"Why don’t I see how you would be able to do anything that would hurt me? I know your ugly brain is probably telling you to make sure that you don’t give up, but I want to tell you something and let you know something too."
Darius took a stance, looking at the demon in front of him. He knew that there was a good chance that he wasn’t close to his allies, and if he were to pass out there, then it would not be funny in any way.
"I am not going to fall here today, you’ll be the one to fall, and I will be sure that even in the afterlife that is if that’s where all of you head to."
Darius charged up his hands and legs, knowing that he wasn’t going to be able to use his skills like that, but he would be making the best of things.
Vertu broke out in laughter, holding his chest while his voice echoed across the space.
"If anything, then I would love to let you know this." He smiled, looking at Darius with a menacing smile on his face.
"I know your body is letting down slowly, and if you aren’t careful, then you will be lying on the floor with no way to stop whatever it is that would come your way."
Vertu bolted in top speed, leaving behind a trail of dark matter as he landed the strike on Darius, who blocked it. Vertu wasn’t done; he landed several blows that made it hard for Darius to just stand there and watch.
Darius stood strong. He had been training with Pryion for a long time, honing his skills.
He didn’t waste time releasing the energy within his body, trying to make sure that his attack would leave a mark.
Pouring his concentration into the stance and blade, his eyes were on Vertu.
Darius dashed for Vertu, his body emitting light essence, showing how fast he was going. Covered with crimson and jade aura, he twirled around in the air.
Vertu sent three powerful arrow attacks for our young warrior, trying to break his concentration mid-way, but he didn’t falter.
Darius closed the gap; he was now close to Vertu, using his leg to stomp the monster’s face. He then swung his blade, releasing a powerful attack.
"Blade Dance!"
The white haired warrior roared as a powerful slash was released. The blow was so strong it left a huge cut on Vertus’ chest, pushing the demon back.
’This mortal, his attacks didn’t have mana within them.’ Vertu was looking at Darius, an evolving anomaly standing before him.
’Does he intend on bringing me down with only his raw strength and nothing else?!’
Vertu jumped back with a smile on his face, it raised its spear to the air breaking it apart, letting shadows loose from the spear. The space shook, almost breaking the place they stood.
"I know why you could take my brother down, he didn’t take you seriously and he was taken down."
The shadows coming from the broken spear entered Vertus body, like a thousand ants crawling over his skin he began to shake his body detorating. His body breaking apart and rejoining itself.
Something wasn’t right, Darius could see the pure evil coming forth from the beast.
’Darius, look for a way and make sure that you won’t taken down!’
Darius took a step back, he didn’t know what he was trying to do but then he was seeing something else. It was the pure power coming from the being before him.
"This isn’t normal is it?"
He didn’t know what he was expecting to see but he knew from the looks of things that there was something going to emerge from the being in front of him that would be much of a problem.
Vertu let out a roar, the ground shook as a dark ooze dripped from its mouth. It’s eyes looking at Darius as he pulled out part of the spear from his body.
"Mortal, I will make sure that you understand where you stand in all this." It moved closer to Darius, the young warrior took a step back.
Darius readied his blade knowing that he was about to face something nasty.
"I know where I stand," Darius pulled Ve’xa closer, lnfusing it with his crimson aura. "I am not going to let you win this!"
Vertu roared as tentacles emerged from his body, slithering across the room slashing anything that blocked its way.
Darius blocked the tentacle from hurting him, he knew that one slip up was going to be the end of him.
He took cover trying to find footing and look for something that would help him take down Vertu.
The beast let out a roar, falling on its knees to the floor. His body was taking yet another form, it was more hideous than the other showing something that shouldn’t be alive.
An abomination.
’Darius, I don’t think it’s done.’ Azree chimed in.
Darius swallowed hard looking at the beast. "So you’re telling me that there is more to this beast?"
Our young warrior stood there, in shock that he was seeing something unravel before him but it wasn’t just that. It was a familiar sense, the form it was taking was a peculiar one.
Darius realized what was happening, the being was taking form of a formal foe. One that had fallen to his blade as well.
"Aya?"
