Darius and Lena had finished with their dinner, he was cleaning up the kitchen and dining room. He wanted to get some rest before he would even think of doing any other thing.

’I still have to look for a way to train, I don’t know if I can use the penalty ring to make sure that I....’

He was not sure if it was going to be a good idea for him to use a place like that for training, knowing that it was unstable and there was a chance that he would not even go there.

"I need to make sure that I get strong, but then it has to be in a way that I can be happy that I took." Darius smiled, looking at the kitchen, he had finished up there, knowing that there was nothing else going to bother him.

He turned to check on Lena, he walked into her room to see her lying on the bed.

"Hey, little one, how are you doing?" Darius had a goofy smile on his face, he walked to see what was going on with his sister.

"Nothing, I just can’t sleep." Lena buried her face in a pillow. She was not getting the rest she hoped she would be getting, and it was making her a bit grumpy. "Will you tell me a story? That might help."

She smiled. Darius looked at his sister, and he knew that there was no way out of the situation. He was sure that she would look for a way to make sure that he would be the one to help her fall asleep.

"Why do I have a feeling that if I don’t do anything about this, you will make sure my life is a living hell tonight? Can I tell you one tomorrow night? I promise I will not forget about it." Darius was looking at Lena; he knew that here was nothing on earth that would make her sleep without him telling her the story.

"Cross your heart?" Lena was looking at him.

"I cross my heart, now please get some sleep I dont want you get all tired in the morning. And if you wake up and you don’t see me, I will drop a letter for you on the counter." Darius smiled.

"Goodnight, big brother. I love you." Lena laid down. Darius stood there looking at her, and the smile on his face widened.

"I love you too, Lena." He said that before he left the room, he walked back to his room trying get his head through what was going to happen if a bigger threat popped up. He knew he was not yet ready for anything that would take him by surprise.

’I need to know what I can do to get stronger, I can’t let something separate me from Lena!’

A notification popped up; Darius was shocked to see it.

"Upgrade? What changed Azree?" Darius was puzzled; he was not sure if it was something he would know if it didn’t show there.

Darius was surprised he didn’t know he could get that strong.

Darius was surprised. he was looking at the inventory, and he knew that there was no way he would be able to lose a fight against an A-ranked monster.

’Woah, I didn’t know I had gotten much but then what’s new?’

’You now have an inventory, you can store things you take from a dungeon. Things that contain hints of mana. And you also now access ranks of other creatures showing you their threat level.’

Darius was excited, he didn’t know that it was going to be like that for him since he was just fighting with his skills.

’So, does this mean I can take on a Red Cobra alone now?’ Darius wondered if it meant that his skill and power were now on par with that of the former beast he fought.

’Your survival chances are 67% against one of the Red Kamuri Cobras.’ Azree gave him a quick reply.

Darius couldn’t think of anything else. He knew that it was good that his strength could help him win, but there was still something bothering him.

Flashback

Theo was looking at the Red Kamuri Cobra’s corpse, and he turned to Darius.

"It would have taken two S-ranked warriors thirty minutes to defeat that thing and make sure that nothing will happen." Theo examined the red cobra.

Darius was a bit surprised that it wouldn’t take two of the S-ranks time to take down the beast.

"But how many minutes would it take an SS rank to take it down?" Darius asked, looking at Theo.

Theo turned; he didn’t know why Darius was asking that question.

"SS ranks are on a different level of power; they would need two blasts, and this beast is down. But then, the real monsters are the Mythic Ranks. They are a rare find, but these warriors are only called out during world-threatening events, like the attack on Northern Kinston City."

Theo paused. He looked at his spear; it was like he had a bad memory. "That was the only time recordex that Nine Mythic Ranks were deployed. Also recorded the death of 10 A ranks, 7 S ranks and 5 SS ranks."

Darius understood what he was trying to say. He wanted to clarify something. "So you’re saying that if I should go for Nathan Cruz, then his family."

"They will eradicate you, not only that they will go for your sister and torture her in front of you before they kill the both of you. So I want you to look for a way and get stronger. I will also look for a way to make sure I am stronger. Only then can we face Nathan and the Cruz family."

Flashback End

Darius clenched his fists, he knew that there was no way for him to even beat them if he was going to try.

’I need to get stronger! If I don’t, I might lose Lena, I won’t let that happen. If there is a peak of power, I will have to surpass it!’

Darius was looking at his hands, the thought of losing his sister haunting his mind.

"I can’t let anything happen to her."

Darius looked at the notification, a bit confused to see that the system was telling him to absorb the core again.

"But I have taken what is inside that core..." Darius brought out the red cobra core, he was looking at it. "Azree, is there something I should do?"

"Concentrate and make sure you absorb the very essence of the core; it has its hidden properties and rewards."

Azree gave him an instruction, and Darius wondered what would be different if he did so, but then there was something odd.

The core still felt like it was the same after the cobra died. Darius had his doubts, but he was not going to let the system fix a penalty for him since he was trying to do what it instructed.

Darius began to absorb the core, he was concentrating trying to put his mind through something.

’Harder, Darius. place all your focus on the core.’ Azree instructed.

Darius focused on the core, and immediately he got it to glow; it was like he had gotten to another level of the core.

It was a 45 cm sword, with the grip made out of the head of a cobra, and the details of the sword were unique.

"Woah, what is all this?" Darius was admiring the sword, he didn’t know if anyone was going to be able to make such a sword. "I don’t know what this is, but I am going to love it."

’Why was there a key and why did it say Key to Slav’s Temple? ’ Darius was looking at the ceiling, wondering why he was given the key to a temple.

’Get your rest, Darius, you need it. Your questions will be answered in the morning.’ Azree replied.

Darius muttered some words before closing his eyes.

Deep in the ruins of a dungeon, skulls and skeletons could be seen lying around. An altar with torches all around it; inside the dungeon, a cave could be seen hidden from the light.

Then from the darkness, a sound— deep, resonant, more felt than heard.

A huge pair of unseen blood-red eyes opens, and the cave begins to tremble.

"Finally." A monstrous voice shakes the dungeon, "He is coming back!"
