Chapter 29: I Can Save You

After leaving his Villa, Lukas raised his head and looked at the night sky.

Unlike on Earth where humans had polluted the environment and barely any star was visible in the sky, countless shining stars could be seen here—the scenery was beautiful.

Taking a deep breath of fresh air, he walked toward another villa not far from his and soon arrived in front of it.

Two female Knights were guarding the gate. When they saw Lukas, they raised their brows in surprise but thinking he might have come out for a stroll, they ignored him.

However, when they saw him walk over, they raised their brows and asked, "Do you want something, Fourth Young Lord?"

Lukas nodded, "Please inform sister Amara that I have something important to discuss with her."

Immediately, the Knights’ expressions became stern before one of them coldly said, "Do you have no idea of propriety, Young Lord? If you want to meet the young lady, come in day. Now, please leave. I’m sure you also don’t want any bad rumors to spread."

Lukas stared at her in silence. The Knight met his gaze fearlessly but as the silence continued for a while, she started feeling uneasy and after another few seconds, she clenched her jaws and lowered her gaze.

Lukas’ expression remained the same and he repeated, "Please inform sister Amara that I have something important to discuss with her."

"...Yes, Young Lord." Nodding, the Knight turned around and entered the villa.

Her companion wanted to stop her but she didn’t want to be subjected to that eye contact in uncomfortable silence with Lukas.

But she couldn’t help but wonder, why was this so? Why could he make them nervous just by staring at them?

While they were not real Knights since they were still in training, they were stronger than ordinary people both mentally and physically. So, this shouldn’t be possible but it had just happened.

Let alone her companion, even she had started feeling uncomfortable. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

...

Inside the villa, the Knight went to Amara’s room and knocked on the door three times before announcing, "Young Lady, Fourth Young Lord is here for an audience and says he has something important to discuss with you."

In her room, Amara was lying on her back, hugging a pillow to her chest as she listlessly stared at the ceiling when she heard the Knight and snapped back to her senses.

"Huh? He is... here?" She muttered, surprised and confused.

As far as she remembered, the last time they talked was right before his awakening ceremony.

From then on, even when they encountered each other on rare occasions, he would just lower his head and ignore her.

While they weren’t too close when they were young, he took care of her on more than one occasion and always treated her kindly, so she had a very good impression of him.

This was why she felt bad when his awakening ceremony failed and always wanted to talk to him, tell him that it was alright, but couldn’t do it fearing she might unintentionally hurt him.

Her expression underwent several changes within a few seconds before she sighed in resignation and called out, "Bring him in the hall. I’ll be there shortly."

Saying this, she got out of the bed.

...

"Yes, Young Lady." The Knight nodded and walked away.

A short while later, she brought Lukas into the hall and said, "Please wait here. Young Lady will be here in a while."

Lukas nodded and took a seat on the plush sofa before closing his eyes.

The Knight felt as if she was standing on pins and needles and badly wanted to walk out. Unfortunately, she had to accompany him until Amara arrived.

’What’s going on, damn it? Why am I feeling so nervous?’ She mulled it over but couldn’t put a finger on what might be the reason.

Step! Step! Step!

Soon, the sound of heels clanking on the floor sounded and Amara arrived, dressed in a figure-fitting green gown type dress.

"Please have a pleasant conversation, Young Lady, Young Lord." The Knight bowed toward Amara and Lukas before taking her leave.

’Hm?’ Amara noticed the Knight’s behavior seemed different from usual and couldn’t help but raise a delicate brow in curiosity. She then glanced at Lukas who had just opened his eyes and thought, ’Did something happen?’

After a moment, she shook these thoughts away and gracefully took a seat on the sofa in front of Lukas.

Then without saying anything, she tilted forward, grabbed the wine jug and poured wine in two cups, sliding one cup toward him and picking up the other.

"Please, have a drink."

Lukas nodded and picked up the proffered wine, taking a sip.

"Can I ask what you want to talk about?" asked Amara, really curious.

Lukas nodded and put the wine cup down before slowly saying.

"When I joined the dinner that day, I overheard some things and realized our father... he has his eyes fixed on you. Is it true?"

Amara’s expression froze for a moment before a desolate smile appeared on her face as she shook her head, "I’m really a hopeless fool. I have been fooling myself into thinking no one knew about it and had even tried to probe my mother and others that day to find out if they were aware of his intentions. How could they not when even you, who has been cut off from the family for years, realized it the first day you came out? Haha!"

Lukas sighed when he saw her heart broken look and tears welling up in her eyes.

After a few seconds, Amara wiped her tears and said somewhat impatiently, "If you have nothing more to ask, please take your leave. You will already be in trouble when he finds out you visited me in the night."

Lukas stared at her for a moment before saying, "I can save you from him."

Amara paused before looking at him as if he had just said something ridiculous. But having lost all hope, his words, albeit unbelievable, lit another spark in her heart and she asked, "How?"

Instead of answering her, he extended his hand and released a wisp of mana toward her.

Immediately, Amara’s eyes widened in disbelief, "You... How can you use mana?"

"The accident last month was a disaster in disguise for me. I underwent a second awakening just today and just half an hour ago, I became a mage." casually revealed Lukas with a light smile on his face.

Amara was stupefied for a while before she burst out in laughter, "Hahaha, how amazing! I’m sure that bastard wouldn’t have imagined he would unintentionally end up helping you."

Lukas’ eyes narrowed when he heard this. He knew the bastard she was referring to was Raymond.

"Are you saying Raymond was behind that bandit attack?" He asked.

"Yes,"

"How are you so sure? It can be someone else, no?" Lukas pressed.

Amara slowly stopped laughing and shook her head, "Who else would want to kill you? Except for your mother and sister, whether you were alive or not mattered to no one."

While her words were blunt and hurt him a bit, he didn’t argue because she was right.

"Why does he want to kill me so suddenly?" He asked.

"If I’m not wrong, it has something to do with the upcoming Rivervale Family Gathering. He most likely feels others will mock him for having a cripple son, so..."

"So, he wants to remove me from the equation. With me gone, no one will mock him, is that right?" Lukas said, his eyes momentarily flashing red.

"Yes, but I’m not completely sure if this is really the reason. You can ask your mother, she would know more." Amara said before asking, "Now tell me how can you save me?"
