"This is... the land of fables?" Elias felt like he had walked into an entirely different world the moment he stepped out of the forest.

There was no sun or moon in the sky. There were not even clouds. Still, the world was filled with light, as if it were the middle of the day.

Right outside the forest, he also saw the skeleton of a giant, a creature beyond recognition. The skeleton was so huge, that even if it was lying on the ground, it was still hundreds of feet high.

The skeleton seemed to have been there for centuries to have deteriorated to this point. But the thing that intrigued him even more was a sword stabbed into the skull of the skeleton.

If it was right outside this forest, then many from the previous batches of the Destroyer Class would have passed through this place. Yet, the sword was still there. Was this a trap? Or did they not think that the Sword was useful? Or could they not take the sword for some reason?

He was intrigued by the sword, which hadn’t rusted even after such a long time. The blade still looked as sharp as ever, and the golden hilt was without even the slightest blemish.

He looked through the material composition of the skeleton, and the Sword. But more than the skeleton, it was the Sword that caught his attention again.

He didn’t know what significance star metal had in this world, but it was the second part of that Composition which made him more interested.

The Sword had an ego? He wasn’t certain the sword having an ego meant the same thing that he was thinking about. But if it was the case, then he might have found the next piece of the puzzle... Intelligence.

"I have to take this sword." He approached the skeleton, planning to claim the sword. He didn’t care if the sword was a treasure or not. Even if it was a useless blade, just the presence of an ego alone made it worthwhile.

He kept the Growth Stone in his pocket and started climbing the skeleton of the Beast of Decay. He had to get that sword before the others stopped fighting and left the forest.

Even though he wanted to undergo his first evolution, he saved it for later, when he was in a safer place. He didn’t know how long an evolution would take. If it was more than a few hours, it would be foolish to attempt it before leaving the forest.

The first time he climbed the Pillar of Heaven, it was much harder. It had almost broken his body, but climbing the skeleton proved to be much easier.

Not only was the skeleton much smaller than the Pillar of Heaven, but Elias had also grown stronger.

Within ten minutes, he managed to reach the top of the skeleton, even with his smaller physique. He stepped onto the skull and approached the sword that was stabbed into its center.

He couldn’t gauge the true size of the sword from a distance, but as he came closer, he gained a better understanding. It was a human-sized sword. Although it was a little long for him, it was still something he could wield without troubles.

Looking at the size of the sword, he grew even more certain about something. The person who had killed this beast, was at least his size. At this place, the only people who could enter were the first year students from the Destroyer Class. Was this the work of another student of the Destroyer Class?

A person could only enter this place once in their lives, and that person had entered the land of fables soon after his awakening, and killed this beast? Elias could only wonder about the identity of that person.

He couldn’t see any symbols or carvings on the Sword. It was just a very plain sword, something that descendants of major families could never carry with them.

"But why did he leave his Sword behind? Why was this sword abandoned here?" He wondered out loud as he reached out his hand to grab the hilt of the Sword.

"Your father was abandoned here! You bastard, how dare you call me an abandoned item?!"

"Huh?" Elias subconsciously stepped back, hearing someone curse at him. The voice appeared the moment he touched the sword, but the moment he left it, the voice disappeared.

"Are you the one who said that?" he asked, looking at the sword. But this time, he didn’t hear anything.

Frowning, he again grabbed the sword, and the voice again appeared in his hand, cursing him incessantly. "Don’t ever call me abandoned! I will beat your seven generations!"

"So you’re indeed the one that was speaking. I was right about the Ego. It’s intelligence!" Elias was pleasantly surprised. He didn’t mind the cursing. Just the fact that he could extract intelligence, was enough to make him happy.

Having an ego was even better than having a Soul of Judgement. And if he merged the Soul of Judgement with an ego, he could only imagine the effects he was going to have.

"It is incredible." Elias mumbled, as his heart started beating faster. "With this, I might create something truly..."

"Hmph, at least you aren’t a complete fool. That’s true. I am indeed very incredible," the Sword sounded like it was proud of the compliments, that were meant less for the Sword and more for the ego within it.

Elias knew that he had to take this sword at any cost. Its value had just skyrocketed in his eyes. For an Architect like him, this was the true treasure!

He grabbed the hilt of the sword with both hands, and pulled it out of the skeleton. But instead of being happy, the Sword appeared to scream. "You fool, put me back before it’s too late!"

"What do you mean?" Elias didn’t understand why the Sword was getting panicked.

"It’s already too late. We’re royally fcked now," the sword answered, as if it had given up on life.
