Legendary Architect of Apocalypse-Chapter 69: The game begins
Each knife struck the portrait, which depicted a young boy who looked barely twelve or thirteen years old. The boy in the portrait had short silver hair and wore a robe bearing the same insignia that was painfully carved on the man’s chest.
The man picked up another knife, and just as he was about to toss it at the portrait, he heard the sound of the door opening. He quickly turned around and tossed the knife.
The person at the entrance gulped down, as the knife flew past him, barely missing his face.
"P-Prince Zesten?" The person stuttered, as his tail started fiercely shaking in fear. Even if he had a body that looked similar to a human, some of his physical characteristics were completely different in many aspects.
"What do you want?" The man asked, frowning. Each of his eyes had dual pupils, which were focused on the person at the door.
"The Beast of Decay appears to be alive. We can sense its aura. I believe it is returning," the man informed.

"He still has the courage to return?" Zesten roared, his voice shaking the entire palace.
As he lost control of his emotions, his physical transformation became unstable. Horns erupted from his forehead, and dragon-like wings unfurled from his back.
"I sent that bastard to kill the child who gave me these scars! Not only did he fail to return with the bastard’s head, but he lost?! And now, he dares to return?! Did you come here with this information, expecting me to be pleased and reward you?"
The man who had informed Zesten began shaking fiercely. He was so frightened that he fell to his knees and began banging his head on the floor. "Please calm your anger, Your Highness!"
"I didn’t come here to tell you about him. I-I just wanted to tell you what his return signifies. Didn’t we know that he was sealed with that evil boy’s sword?" he asked. "After that, we tried to pull out the sword to free him, but the sword only burned our people!"
"We even tried to get some humans to move the sword, but they couldn’t move it, even after we killed them. But now the Beast of Decay is returning. It means the seal is broken."
"So?" Zesten frowned, wondering what he was trying to say. So what if the sword was removed? It didn’t matter anyway, as they couldn’t even use the sword that burned the fables the moment they tried to hold its hilt to control it.
"The High Priest told us that the sword was tied to that boy. Except him, no one could hold it. Unless..."
"Do you mean that person has returned?!" Zesten asked, his fingers subconsciously touching the scar on his chest.
He could never forget that person, who had given him this would. He was just fifteen years old at that time, while the boy was only twelve. The person even stole the greatest treasure of the Central Region.
"I don’t think that person has returned. A person from the land of living can only enter this place once in their lives, when they are younger than twenty."
"So it can’t be him. But the high priest told us of another possibility. The only other person that can use that sword, is the one that holds his blood. It means that someone has arrived, that shares his blood. It’s either his son, or his brother."
"As it happens, it seems to be that time of the year when this from the land of living also starts arriving. If we can take that person, then we might be able to negotiate the return of that treasure. If we can use it to open that place, then we might be able to leave this place!"
The man stopped banging his head, after informing Zesten about his theory. He raised his head, to see his reaction.
Zesten seemed to be lost in some thoughts. "And if I leave this place, I can hunt that bastard and kill him with my own hands after returning these scars to him! Last time, I was just a child. But now, I am something else entirely."
"That is right. We just take that treasure back before the humans realize what that thing is truly capable of," the man exclaimed.
"Good! Find the High Priest! Tell him to locate the presence of that bastard’s blood! We can use the other children to send that bastard his brother’s arm with my name carved on it, along with the message to return that item! I wonder what kind of face he will make when he sees it!"
"It shall be done as the wishes of Your Highness..." The man placed his claws on the ground and pushed his body up, before rushing away.
Meanwhile, Zesten picked up another knife. He tossed the knife at the portrait, "Now, the game begins."
....
"It’s finally over." Elias approached the new and improved X-86.
The merger had taken what felt like an eternity, the process lasting over six hours. But finally, it was done, and Elias could see the result of his creation which truly felt like a miracle.
The overall shape of the fighter jet remained the same, but he could feel a few very significant differences. Occasionally, he could see lightning flickering on the surface of the plane.
The Star Metal had further improved the fighter jet’s physical strength, while the Eliestus Metal imparted its durability. Even the glass was further strengthened by the crystal.
When he checked the material composition, everything seemed to be as expected. The only thing beyond his expectations was the jet’s weight, which had doubled. It made him wonder if it could still perform as expected.
"It shouldn’t affect things too much. I think the lightning will take care of it," he thought. Still, he considered testing the flight capabilities.
He reached out his hand, and his fingers touched the jet. "Are you there?"
"Shh, don’t disturb me! I’m trying to understand this thing! So much to learn! Ah, what’s that? Nice! So it does that!"
Even though he was shushed away, Elias felt relieved. The ego seemed to be safe. And more importantly, it could truly comprehend the technology of this fighter jet, as if it were a part of its own body, solving one of his biggest worries.
"When you’re finished learning, how about we take a trip to the skies?" he asked.
"Hmph, what do you think of me?" The ego scoffed.
Just as Elias thought it was rejecting him, he saw the glass move, and the entrance to the cockpit opened.
