Legendary Awakening: Harem System In The Post-Apocalyptic World-Chapter 113: Is She Going To Stay With Us?
"Sir, can you please help me check whether that contaminated water has affected my daughter? I beg you." She pleaded.
Max glanced at the toddler, took a step forward and gently touched her head as he asked while activating the [Discerning Eyes].
"What’s her name?"
"It’s Avi." The woman answered.
"Hmm." Max nodded, then asked, "Have you noticed any abnormality in her?"
"Yes. For the past week, she has been sleeping for the better part of the day, and always seems tired." The woman answered.
[Name: Avi Bailey]

[Status: Unconscious, weak.]
"Don’t worry. The water hasn’t affected her. It’s just some weakness. She will be alright in a few days." said Max even though after seeing her status, especially her level—which should have been zero given how even teenagers were barely level 2—and the ’Unconscious’ in her status, he was sure the contaminated water had affected her.
Still, since the purifying formation was going to remove the radiation’s negative effects, he decided against telling the woman the truth and worrying her in vain.
The young woman bit her lower lip upon hearing him.
From her expression, Max could tell she had wanted some professionals to check Avi up, not him. So, he said, "Don’t worry. I can tell whether someone is affected by the radiation or not. For example... you are affected."
[Name: Jane Bailey]

Marital Status: Widowed
Sexual Satisfaction: 2%
Vaginal Virginity: No
Anal Virginity: Yes

"You can really tell?" Jane asked. Max silently nodded in response.
Jane then looked at her daughter and let out a sigh of relief.
Seeing how she completely disregarded the news of herself being affected and felt relieved that her daughter was safe, his eyes flickered with emotion and some memories of Sarah flashed in his mind.
Just like Jane, she was also a good mother.
Shaking his head, he asked Jane to stand on the side and closed his eyes. There were still a few minutes left until the deadline for the crowd to make their decision was up.
...
After seeing Nick, Fenna and Jane choose to stay, those who were aware they wouldn’t be able to survive on their own began coming over to Max.
Just like Nick and Jane, they bowed to him, showing their respect, and told him about their decision and then stood beside Jane.
By the time ten minutes were over, half of the crowd was standing with Nick, Jane and Fenna.
As for the other half...
"Time’s up." Max announced, "Tell me your decision."
Hearing this, they also decided to stay with the exception of a few families. They looked at Max uneasily, worried that he would go back on his word and would slaughter them.
However... After sweeping a fleeting glance over them, he casually said, "You can go. Don’t forget to leave the city within 3 days."
"...We understand." said an elderly woman, resentment clear in her eyes. The same was true for the others.
As Max watched them leave, Max narrowed his eyes slightly, the thought of slaughtering them flashing in his mind.
But he suppressed it. He wasn’t going to break his word just because they hated him. Of course, if they dared cause any trouble, things would be different.
He glanced at two men beside Kevin. "Go, take whatever weapons you brought and make sure they don’t enter anyone else’s house and take their supplies away."
"Yes, Sir." The duo nodded and rushed after them.
Max then glanced at Noah and asked, "Chloe lived in the first block, right?"
"Eh?" Noah was caught off guard by his sudden question, but swiftly nodded, "Yes. She did."
Nodding, he glanced at the crowd and asked, "Those of you who live in the first block, do you know what happened to Chloe, the beautiful college girl with scarlet hair?"
Several people, including Jane Bailey, reacted when they heard him.
Then, a woman responded in a low voice, "She... was killed, Sir."
Despite already knowing she might have not survived, Max found himself getting angry and asked, his voice a few notches colder, "Who killed her? The Scavengers?"
The woman lowered her head seemingly in guilt and nodded, "...Yes."
As if Jane could see this answer wasn’t satisfactory to Max, Jane, who was also the resident of the first block and knew Chloe, explained, "Sir, at the end of the first week, when the Scavenger Group was created, they captured several beautiful women from the nearby blocks. Then they... forced themselves on them until they could no longer endure and... passed away."
As Chloe’s graceful visage flashed in his mind and he imagined the horrors she must have suffered, Max clenched his fists.
"I let them off easy." he muttered.
After a few moments, he took a deep breath and swept his gaze across the crowd, wanting to see if there were any of his class’ beauties present. However, there was none and this only made the anger he just suppressed to boil once again.
He knew that several of his college girls lived in the first three blocks. Since they weren’t present here, they most likely had suffered the same fate as Chloe.
Everyone could see Max was angry, so no one dared make any sound. Naira, after hesitating for a bit, stepped forward and gently grabbed his arm, "You alright?"
"Mm." nodded Max after taking a deep breath and suppressing his anger once again. It was futile to be angry at dead people, after all.
He looked at Kevin and ordered, "Go with them. Leave a day’s worth of food with them and take the excess. Also, drain the water they have and give the one you have brought."
He then addressed the crowd, "No one is to cause any trouble, and you all will stay put in your homes. If something happens, you can report it to my people who would be patrolling this area every once in a while."
Then, he gave Noah a slice of Nutritious Bread and said, "You’ll mostly recover after eating this. Stay with them and obey Kevin’s orders."
Saying this, he activated the [Discerning Eyes] and checked his loyalty.
[Loyalty: 31]
’31...’ Thinking for a moment, he added, "You can come to the Governor’s Mansion with them when they return."
"I understand. Thank you... Sir." Noah inclined his head in understanding and submission. At the same time, he sighed in relief in his heart because he had noticed the pause before he told him to come to the mansion.
...
With Naira, Nick and Fenna in tow, Max arrived at the Governor’s Mansion over an hour later. They could have come sooner, but on the way, he tried to look for Professor Evelyn. Unfortunately, he didn’t find her.
He saw that apart from two men with rifles who were guarding the gate, there was no one else here, having already left to complete the task he gave them.
Thinking for a moment, he went over to the administration building and found Vivian at the reception.
Seeing him, she promptly stood up and reported that she had completed the task he gave her.
Then, she looked at Naira, Nick and Fenna behind him, and asked, "Who are they, My Lord?"
Max’s eyes flashed and he stared at her. Vivian innocently stared back at him as if she was unaware why he was looking at her like that.
’This woman... How come she already knows me so well?’ He thought before shaking his head and introducing the trio.
"Go settle them in an empty house." he said while pointing at Nick and Fenna.
"What about Miss Naira?" asked Vivian.
"I’ll arrange things for her." said Max, ignoring the knowing glint flashing in her eyes.
"Okay." nodded Vivian and took Nick and his mother away.
Max also took Naira and headed towards his residence. He was going to have her stay in his house.
Soon, they arrived at his place and immediately saw Natalie, Sophie and Emily lounging on the courtyard, soaking in the sunlight.
Hearing the sound of the main gate opening, the ladies opened their eyes and glanced over.
When she saw him, Natalie’s face lit up in joy, but then she noticed Naira and her brows furrowed.
As for Sophie, after frowning for a brief moment, her expression became calm, but it was a detached calm unlike her mother’s normal calm.
"Who is this young lady, Max?" Emily asked.
"She is Naira. The sister of an old classmate of mine." Max answered before adding, "She is also my woman now."
Naira had felt somewhat uncomfortable when she heard how he introduced her. But then she heard the latter part and the uncomfortable feeling vanished without a trace and she felt... happy?
"...I see." Emily nodded while Natalie scrunched up her nose in displeasure. As for Sophie, her expression remained the same as before.
Right then, Natalie thought of something and stared at Max with her eyes narrowed, "Is she... going to stay here?"
