Legendary Oops System-Chapter 45: Earlier Than Expected
Speaking of next week, it came faster than expected.
White sat down on a sidewalk bench; his gaze pressed on the screen before him.
BEEP!
A beep was constantly ringing off his phone, and that was due to one thing.
Cyberpoints Challenge.
The academy had given the newcomers a week of protection before they could be legally challenged for their cyberpoints, but now the week had already passed, and White, being the "strongest," was feeling the heat.
He had received a total of 21 challenges.
BEEEP!
Now twenty-two.
They included names that were familiar and unfamiliar.
Rukun, Gustav, Innumaki, Tensora.
Almost all of the current top ten were challenging him.
Well, except for Morgaine.
She was number 5, but didn’t issue him a challenge, probably because of his relationship with Nova.
Still, it was nerve-wracking being issued a challenge by so many people.
[You only need to answer to four people for the week, remember][You’re good.]
The system panel flashed and his eyes gleamed.
"Right. Only 4 challenges for a week."
He mused to himself, remembering the important notice in the rule.
But that birthed the question, who should he answer to from the twenty-two?
BEEP!
Twenty-three now.
"Fighting Gustav directly improves my strength due to his Wrath Lightning, so definitely, I’ll be taking his challenge."
[You sure you can still take him on?]
The system panel flashed, and while it seemed as if it was underestimating him, White wasn’t annoyed.
For the past one week, Gustav had not attended any classes.
They had reported him staying in the training building all day, every day, and those who went there reported powerful reverberations ringing constantly for half the entire day, no doubt belonging to Gustav.
After his defeat, he had been training all night and day, and just yesterday, when he finally resumed classes,
White noticed he had also broken through to the Star Realm.
Throughout last week, White had not leveled up, not even once.
Because the academy was on a teaching phase, there were no quests or any fights that might have rewarded him with any points, so in a way, he was still stuck at his exact level of strength.
Perhaps taking on the upcoming challenges might finally give him enough EXP to level up once more, but for now, he couldn’t say for sure if he could still take on Gustav.
But worrying about that wouldn’t help him.
He wasn’t scared of losing.
After all, that would just be 30% of his points gone, and he would still be able to grow his strength from Gustav’s Wrath Lightning.
Win or lose, it was still a fair trade.
"I’ll take his challenge last."
White confirmed.
The second person whose challenge he would be taking was the person that gave him the chills.
Inumaki, the Otherworld Summoner.
Ever since he had defeated Rukun, White couldn’t forget him, and he knew if he fought him, there was a chance the young man would defeat him.
He only needed to get slashed once by his summon.
For that reason, he wanted to fight Innumaki.
His hands reached for the tab, and he clicked on accept.
The second he did, the news was immediately announced all over for fights scheduled to happen tomorrow after the classes.
"Huuuu,"
White exhaled, feeling a tiny bit of weight released from his chest, as he reclined on the seat, but then he paused, seemingly dazed, when he saw the purple sky, before erupting in laughter.
"Foolish me..."
He mused to himself, slapping his own forehead.
’I’m 10 years older than any of these kids, and yet I’m getting pressured because of their challenge.’
He was a regressor who had lived 10 years into the future.
How could he be worried about some kids challenging him?
[Maybe if you had regressed into the United Earth Federation, then you need not worry.]
[But this is XtremCyber, with children from the Big Four clans, most of them with S-rank awakenings.]
[It’d be dumb to look down on them just because you’ve been regressed back to the past.]
The system blinked, and it would be a lie to say he didn’t understand.
But on the mention of the United Earth Federation, White’s eyes narrowed.
His true mission was to kill Draugr.
According to his memories, although he never knew Draugr until he had graduated, he knew that while he was a newcomer, Draugr was a third year.
Definitely stronger than he was.
He didn’t exactly know when Draugr switched to the supernatural side, but the fact that he was no doubt stronger than him right now was unnerving to White.
Even if he was stuck in XtremCyber, he should at least be strong enough to be able to take him when the chance presented itself.
And speaking of the chance presenting itself, he had been hearing of rumors among some of the students.
That the instructors were planning on the newcomers going on their first Supernatural Outbreak mission.
He didn’t know the details, but that they would finally be taken out of the academy and into the real world.
The reason he cared for that was that he remembered that a couple weeks after his arrival in the United Earth Federation in the past, he had noticed a jet flying out of the academy, and when he had asked what that was, he had been told that it was the third year in the academy, leaving for a mission.
If they were third years, then obviously Draugr was with them.
What were the chances that the same outbreak mission that Xtremcyber was taking its newcomers to, would be the same mission that the United Earth Federation third years would also be going on?
If that was indeed true, then it meant one thing:
He might be meeting with Draugr earlier than he expected.
His gaze drifted from the sky to his hands, which quietly clenched into a fist as a light burned from the depths of his eyes. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
’If there’s even a 1% chance of meeting Draugr soon, then I want to meet him, knowing well I can rip his head off his neck if I wish.’
’For that, I need to grow stronger...faster."
