Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 224: Solo Tide Breaking? I Can TOTALLY Do That!
Rolling out his shoulders while approaching the staircase leading to the top of the Fort's walls, Aoni really hadn't put much thought into his physical growth as of late.
To be honest, with all his time consumed by setting up his first Village, things like leveling up his stats or even training had fallen to the wayside, yet he knew that to not be of any consequence.
Mind you, it wasn't that he didn't WANT to increase the ranks of his stats; however, still, even with the end of his second Genovian month coming to a close, he hadn't maxed out his second star.
Upgrading summons? Been done that.
Blowing through points like a madman by crafting everything he could think of, then adding points to anything and everything he created? Just look in the Cavern for that answer.

Flume, don't bother asking.
Apart from adding more Living summons to his roster, nothing came to mind, and it wasn't like the Attribute Notice was forthcoming when it came to spoiler information.
Without a visible path in sight, all Aoni could do was continue pushing forward, keep moving, and spend his ever-abundant Progress Points like a hemorrhaging flesh wound would gush blood.
Many sleepless nights had been dedicated to this issue, and in the end, the only option remaining was that of newly summoned beings. Unfortunately, as of right now, it wasn't really an option.
He only had a couple of days remaining until he was expected back on Terra, or else…
Shivering at the thought of Lea's wrath if he merely wandered in even a second later than his expected arrival, Aoni pushed off the Fort wall and landed gracefully on the cold, snow-covered mountaintop.
'Better not to push what little luck I have in the tank by pissing off Mom,' drawing Austr and Vestr from his inventory and spinning them around to warm up his muscles, Aoni closed his eyes and listened carefully to his surroundings.
Woooooooo
Skitter
Scatter
Growl
Snap
Pitter
Patter
Crack
All around him, the sounds of nature filled his ears: an occasional snapping branch here, a low growl there, scratching sounds of claws on stone, tapping of feet on snow, and, of course, the faint sound of the blustery wind, he took it all in, before snapping his eyes open and rushing off toward the southern side of the mountain top.
Training or not, having spent so much time fighting against brainless beasts twice a day, Aoni had adapted to their patterns, and while their numbers had dwindled drastically from the first few days after the barrier was replaced, that didn't mean a thousand or so monsters wouldn't attack twice a day.
Even so, they, like any other instinct-driven creature, had several different patterns and manners of hunting or stalking prey, and having a high-level understanding of these patterns allowed Aoni to make a snap judgment that this morning's attack would be on the southern wall of the Fort.
Racing along the paved path he'd painstakingly laid out, Aoni moved around the Fort's perimeter and down several hundred yards before sliding like a figure skater at the edge of a large forest.
Without stopping, after redirecting his momentum, he pushed off the ground with enough force to go airborne and was suddenly in the trees.
Weeks of moving around like a monkey in the Cavern had unknowingly given the lad a sense of freedom he'd never known as a landbound human, and with how tightly packed the trees were, it allowed for a wider range of motion so long as he timed his jumps properly.
Plus, with how dense the canopy was, there was rarely snow on the low-hanging branches, removing the main obstacle he'd have to fight against if running on the ground.
Lastly, one must not forget that his only weapons were HOOK SWORDS, so it wasn't like he was merely in Ninja mode. No, occasionally, Aoni would change his direction by hooking a branch with one of his swords, swinging, and throwing his weight in a different place.
'Up ahead, huh? What the hell are those?' Hearing a disturbance before seeing any enemies, Aoni used both Vestr and Austr to flip around a large branch and land on one knee.
BOOM…BOOOM
CRACKK BOOOM
Several hundred feet in the distance, he noticed trees moving, followed by the obvious sound of lumber smashing into the ground.
And it wasn't only in one place either.
'Four, five, eight, whatever they are, it's a pack, and these monsters are BIG, big enough to knock over trees like dominos.' Unsure of how to proceed, Aoni played it safe, stored away his swords, and began climbing the tree for a better vantage point.
However, when he reached the top of the tree and looked down, he wished he hadn't because a little over a hundred yards away were some of the most grotesque, ugly, and frankly terrifying creatures he'd hoped never to come up against.
'Oh, I don't have to wake up the kids, I can TOTALLY do this on my own, Stupid fucking Aoni, TROLLS, NOT JUST ANY EITHER, FUCKING PEAK 2-STAR ICE TROLLS!' Mentally berating himself, Aoni gulped down a mouthful of saliva and contemplated running away.
If it had been any other monster, maybe he wouldn't be so freaked; however, between the high regeneration abilities, thick skin, dulled pain sensors, and enormous strength, Trolls were fucking UNITS, and it wasn't just one either heading toward his Fort, it was FUCKING EIGHT OF THEM!
Trolls, while sharing multiple physical similarities with goblins, aka wart-filled long hooked noses, sharp wing-like ears, and pudgy protruding bellies, these behemoths were a FAR bigger threat.
Able to wield tools and armor, while pretty dumb, these tanks were a thing to steer clear of because they were known to not only reshape terrain but cause massacres wherever they went, and if there were Eight, Aoni didn't doubt there would be WAY more somewhere on the mountain, because these bastards were far from solitary creatures, no they normally lived in establishments filled with their younger cousins aka Goblins, hobgoblins and ogres.
{'NYRIA, WAKE UP! I NEED YOU OVER HERE NOW!'} Knowing that Glacia would be a challenge to wake up, Aoni defaulted to calling his little helper, and less than a minute later, she was perched beside him, worry and fear in her eyes as she had clearly seen what they were facing when heading over.
