Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Then Accept Fate (Extra Chapter for Monthly Votes)
"Xuan Jiu’s superpower is puppet control." Chen Yunji’s words grew increasingly bitter: "And... mind reading."
Xuan Jiu could read minds—this, he had always known.
They had only met two days ago, but he chose to collaborate with Xiao Jinsheng because Xuan Jiu had seen through Xiao Jinsheng and the thoughts of her Beast Husbands.
Xuan Jiu believed that Xiao Jinsheng and her group were trustworthy.
Chen Yunji only knew about Xuan Jiu’s mind-reading ability, but what he didn’t know at the time was that Huaiqing possessed the power of prophecy—and that Huaiqing had foreseen his death, which Xuan Jiu had read from his mind.
"Sorry, I need to return to Cloud Island," Chen Yunji apologized.
Whose life is not a life?
Even if it’s for fighting the Terminal.
But he couldn’t bring himself to live by stepping on the lives of others.
Watching Chen Yunji’s quickly retreating figure, Xiao Jinsheng chased after him: "We can face it together."
"The death Huaiqing foresaw for me—it’s obvious the Terminal will be the one to kill me," Chen Yunji looked down, his voice heavy. "A puppet doesn’t have starstones. A dead body doesn’t have dragon horns."
"Which means, the one who dies in the prophecy is Xuan Jiu’s puppet. And the starstone in the prophecy is most likely also Xuan Jiu’s."
At the start, the starstone Huaiqing saw in his prophecy was at Twelve Stars.
This time, after Huaiqing’s superpower rose to Nine Stars, it was the first time the same prophecy reappeared.
Near the corpse in the prophecy, the starstone he saw was at Ten Stars. freēwēbnovel.com
The strength of the starstone matched Xuan Jiu perfectly after he severed his tail and tore out his heart.
"Let’s face it together," Xiao Jinsheng called after him.
"The Terminal’s target is me. You don’t have to get involved," Chen Yunji spoke in disapproval.
"On the Mist Continent, who isn’t a target of the Terminal?" Xiao Jinsheng retorted, then added, "Besides, we’re partners. After collaborating for over three months, we’re still partners."
"As long as the Terminal stands, our partnership won’t end."
"Without my spatial teleportation, you won’t get across the ocean to the Northern Territory in time." Li placed a hand on Xiao Jinsheng’s shoulder and spoke to Chen Yunji.
"If something happens to him on a month-long voyage, I can’t save him," Yu Yunxiao waved a hand dismissively. "Even if my superpower reaches Twelve Stars, healing is still healing—I can only treat injuries, not bring back the dead."
"I can swim for a month in the sea; can you fly in the air for a month?" Shi Xie asked.
"Let’s go together. Perhaps my prophecies can provide some guidance," offered Huaiqing.
Though, what he foresaw was rarely anything good.
Su Ye said nothing and simply extended a hand to Xiao Jinsheng: "Take us into the space."
"I’ll listen to Xiao Jinsheng," Mo Jiao responded.
Que Zelian also extended a hand to Xiao Jinsheng: "Let’s begin."
"Come with us. Direct spatial teleportation to the Northern Territory will be much faster," Xiao Jinsheng reminded Chen Yunji.
"You all..." Chen Yunji was stunned.
Even though Xuan Jiu could read minds, and he had followed Xuan Jiu’s advice,
he didn’t understand at first why Xuan Jiu trusted Xiao Jinsheng.
After all, mind-reading could only reveal current thoughts, which can change.
A good person can turn bad.
A bad person might become good.
At first, he had assumed that being under the oppression of the Terminal made their survival so precarious that perhaps only a desperate gamble could bring a glimmer of hope.
But at this moment,
watching Xiao Jinsheng, who willingly reached out to help him...
watching the seven others who supported Xiao Jinsheng and were also willing to offer their help...
Chen Yunji’s voice choked, and his lips, unused to the expression, curved slightly as he attempted a smile: "Thank you."
He realized that the Mist East was far warmer than the Northern Territory.
At least here, compared to the icy whiteness of the Cloud Island Snow Peak, there was warmth.
Li’s teleportation ability was nothing new to the group.
The Beast Husbands entered the space, Li used teleportation to bring Xiao Jinsheng to the Northern Territory, and Chen Yunji followed behind, carried by his elemental power.

"So boring. It’s really boring being alone." Xuan Jiu leaned against the window, shivering as the cold wind blew through the gaps.
"Chen Yunji, you’re really insane!" Xuan Jiu growled as he tore at tree bark to seal the gaps in the window. "Building a bamboo house on Da Xue Mountain!"
"I should’ve known better than to agree to this place. My cave was warmer."
"Hey, don’t you think so?" Xuan Jiu muttered to himself and slammed a hand on the table, looking toward the man seated opposite him, whose eyes were covered with white bandages.
The puppet sat stiffly, unmoving even as Xuan Jiu made noise.
"Forget it. Boring," Xuan Jiu sighed in defeat.
A Ten-Star superpower-formed puppet was nothing more than a speechless statue.
Had it been an Eleven-Star puppet, Xuan Jiu could’ve at least programmed it with commands to respond to simple questions.
For instance, it could’ve complimented his extraordinary cooking skills.
Xuan Jiu pressed a hand to his chest, feeling the silence he had grown accustomed to over the past three months.
Even though his heart was no longer within him, he felt more at ease this way.
If, this time... he expended everything and still couldn’t find a way to survive,
then he would accept his fate.
Then he would embrace death...
Outside the Bamboo Courtyard, snow and wind howled.
The sound of the storm alone was enough to give Xuan Jiu a headache.
The silence was already unbearable, but now he had to endure the freezing cold and the ominous snowfall.
Xuan Jiu sighed and lamented to the puppet: "Why does it take Eleven Stars for a puppet to speak? I’m so bored."
"Why, why can’t you talk at Ten Stars?"
"I can," the puppet suddenly replied.
Hearing the unexpected response, Xuan Jiu froze in place.
He slowly looked up, only to see the puppet across from him smiling.
"So scared..." the puppet’s smile was stiff but its voice was cheerful: "This is... the taste of fear."
"You..." Xuan Jiu muttered, looking at the puppet he had created, a chill running down his spine.
The link between him and the puppet had been severed by some invisible force.
The puppet stood and raised its hand, filling the room with Eleven-Star starstones.
"Why would anyone think their petty tricks could fool me?" the puppet questioned, its tone laced with incomprehension.
"You are..." Xuan Jiu exclaimed in shock.
At that moment, he had no time to figure out the puppet’s anomaly.
Sensing the overwhelming danger, Xuan Jiu bolted from the Bamboo Courtyard.
The puppet remained inside, unmoving.
A pair of unseen eyes watched from above as Xuan Jiu fled into the distance.
But just as Xuan Jiu burst out of the courtyard and into the open gate, a man in white stood waiting on the snowy ground, his silver hair whipping in the fierce wind.
His eyes were hidden beneath white gauze, and atop his head grew a pair of silver, scaled dragon horns shimmering faintly in the snow.
Seeing Xuan Jiu, he smiled gently: "Xuan Jiu, I’ve returned."
"Chen Yunji!" Xuan Jiu exclaimed in shock.
Without stopping, he flashed past Chen Yunji, shouting urgently, "Why did you come back now?! Run!"
Chen Yunji, seemingly confused, remained still until Xuan Jiu’s superpower yanked him along.
"I was worried about you, so I came back to check on you," Chen Yunji explained as he ran alongside him.
"You’re insane! My puppet is out of control—who do you think did it?" Xuan Jiu snapped.
Cloud Island was entirely under the Terminal’s control.
He didn’t know where to run, but his instinct was to head down the mountain first.
Not long after, they spotted Xiao Jinsheng charging toward them through the wind and snow: "Xuan Jiu!"
"You... why are you back too?!" Xuan Jiu roared, turning to blame Chen Yunji. "Why did you bring her back?!"
Chen Yunji didn’t respond, quietly running away alongside him.
Xiao Jinsheng reached out to Xuan Jiu against the raging snowstorm: "Xuan Jiu, why is it so cold on this peak? I’m a little scared."
"Where are your Beast Husbands? Why aren’t they here protecting you?" Seeing that Xiao Jinsheng’s spiritual power was still at Five Stars, Xuan Jiu lashed out angrily:
"Do they really let you throw your life away like this?"
