Shu Pan got home and greeted Song Can before deciding to go to bed.

Yes, she needed to conserve her energy and then get a full rest.
She had to tell Gu Shaoting about her illness, even though she didn’t want him to know. If she ended up in the hospital, she couldn’t hide it anyway. It would be better to be upfront with him early on so he could prepare himself mentally.
That was what she thought about on her way home today, and she had made the decision after careful consideration.
If she had to face it eventually, she would do so bravely.
Song Can felt that Shu Pan seemed a bit off, but she thought it was because Shu Pan was tired from shopping.
So she told Shu Pan to get some good rest.
Shu Pan raised the corners of her lips and nodded.
Back in her room, she put away the medical images.
Then she washed up briefly, changed into her pajamas, and decided to take a nap.
Even during the nap, her sleep was restless. She was plagued by nightmares until she woke up frightened.
“Ah…” Shu Pan cried out.
“Panpan, what’s wrong with you? Come to your senses,” Gu Shaoting called out to her.
Shu Pan slowly opened her eyes, which at first were blurry but gradually cleared up.
Seeing Gu Shaoting by the bed, she was startled at first, then asked, “Shaoting, when did you come back? Why so early today?”
Shu Pan’s voice was somewhat hoarse, as if she had been crying.
“It’s not early, it’s already past 5 o’clock. I was feeling uneasy today, so I came back a bit early. But it’s not early anymore,” Gu Shaoting explained.
Shu Pan looked outside through the thick curtains and indeed, it was getting dark already.
It was already this late; she must have slept too heavily.
Shu Pan touched her hair with her hand.
“Sorry, I overslept,” Shu Pan apologized, truly embarrassed.
“It’s fine. If you’re tired, just sleep. You don’t have to say sorry to anyone, okay?” Gu Shaoting raised his hand to touch her hair.
For some reason, maybe because of how emotional Gu Shaoting’s words were, Shu Pan suddenly embraced him, burying her face deeply into his chest.
“What’s wrong? You seem a bit unusual today,” Gu Shaoting said with a smile, as if she were acting like a little girl. Was she being clingy?
“Nothing, I’m fine. I just wanted to hug you,” Shu Pan muffled her words while her head was still nestled in his chest.
Only Shu Pan herself truly knew the specifics of what was going on.
“Heh,” Gu Shaoting chuckled softly, feeling warm in his heart. Even though they had been together for so long, it seemed they cared for each other more and more.
Shu Pan looked up at him and glared, then pinched him at his waist, “What are you laughing at?”
“I’m not laughing at anything; I just think you’re very cute,” Gu Shaoting said gently.
“Not cute anymore, I’m old,” Shu Pan said wistfully.
“How could that be? In my eyes, you are still as young and charming,” Gu Shaoting said.
Shu Pan knew he was coaxing her, but her heart felt happy nonetheless. At least he had that intention.
Taking advantage of the relaxed atmosphere, Shu Pan said in a low voice, “Shaoting, I… I’m sick.”
Because her voice was as faint as a mosquito’s by his ear, Gu Shaoting didn’t quite catch her words.
“What did you say? Sick? Who’s sick?” Gu Shaoting only heard the last two words, so he asked again.
Faced with his question, Shu Pan became timid again.
In the end, she gritted her teeth and said clearly, “Shaoting, it’s me who’s sick.”
