LEVEL 0 IMMORTAL-Chapter 104: You Shall Beg For Death
Elias had to move because the leader of the cannibals was not just going to stand by and watch him recover from the blow, and indeed, the leader was advancing towards him, appearing to be walking quite slowly, but that was deceptive due to the length of his stride.
In less than a second, he was near Elias, and he was silent, not taunting or cursing, just a feeling of unstoppable momentum.
Elias rose to meet him head-on, as he whipped his spear around, extending it to fifteen feet to avoid coming too close to the giant, and focusing all of his power into a single direction, he thrust the spear at the torso of the giant.
"CLANG!"
The giant parried with the club, as metal and bone collided in a burst of sparks and splintered fragments. The impact rang through Elias’s arms like a hammer on an anvil, and he nearly bit his tongue from the vibration passing through his body.
If he had any less durability, or the swarm was not holding his muscle together, coupled with the Pillar of Sorrow that seemed to have strengthened his spine, Elias felt that by just that counter, his arm and much of his upper body would have been vaporized.
’Damnit, how many pools did this giant open to reach the Mist Phantom stage, and how high is his level?’
Knowing that it was much too late to be asking such questions, Elias focused on the battle, and he twisted the spear, trying to slide past the block, but the leader of the cannibals sneered and swung his club in a low sweep that would have shattered Elias’s legs and torn him in two.
Elias had a bare moment to respond, and any single hesitation would destroy him... but he did not hesitate.
He leaped over the club, his bare feet clearing the weapon by inches and he landed on the giant’s extended arm as he stretched out his hands to give him balance, once he had it, ran up the arm like a ramp, and as the head of the giant turned to him in surprise, Elias drove the spear downward toward the leader’s face.
When he was running up the giant’s arm, Elias was already shortening his spear to less than four feet, and when he found the perfect opportunity, he struck.
He had ignored the feeling of being compressed and the enormous heat around the giant as he ran through the silver mist that surrounded him. Elias could not last more than a few seconds being this close to the giant, but he did not need a few seconds; he only needed one.
Elias could see the shock and the surprise in the eyes of the giant as the spear travelled towards his left eye, and then an inch before it could plunge into those marble orbs, the silver mist around the giant... ignited.
"WHOOSH... BOOM!"
Red-orange flames erupted from the silvery haze, hot enough to blister skin from ten feet away. Elias felt the heat sear his legs, and the only reason he had lost all the skin on his lower body was due to wrapping his entire leg with the material created by his swarm, but already it was smoking, and he could feel the heat working its way through it.
However, he was also lucky because there was an explosive force to the ignition, and he was pushed back by it.
Elias twisted mid-air, his spear redirecting into a defensive spin, as blades of violet light intercepted the flames shooting from the giant who had transformed into a being of flame.
The mist burned hotter, the red flames roaring upward in a column that swallowed the spear’s tip and shot into the sky, brightening up the clearing as the evening was rapidly approaching and the first of the moon, Lunareth, with its silvery-white light, was about to appear.
Luckily, it seemed that combusting the mist like this was an explosive move that consumed it entirely, and he was panting, seemingly a bit stunned by explosively releasing so much power from his body.
Elias released the spear; it dissolved into motes that whipped back to his palms, still in the air, he created a thin wire that he threw at the giant neck and pulled upon it, but due to the strength of the giant, he remained on his feet and Elias was the one that was pulled towards him, but, this was the plan.
He landed on the giant’s shoulder, and all ten of his fingers transformed into blades that sank into flesh for purchase, but unlike the lesser cannibals, his blades could barely cut through the muscle.
Elias’s strength that was below a hundred was still too low to easily dice this giant, and he pushed downward once more, getting deeper by an inch, and then he raked downward with a growl of effort.
He had not checked how sharp the weapons he was creating with the swarm were; nonetheless, he knew they could serve his needs well.
The skin of the giant parted as well as his muscles, which were split by the blades. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Blood sprayed in thick, dark arcs, and the giant made a painful roar as he swung his free hand.
Elias leaped away, bladed hands tearing free with chunks of meat, but the backhand clipped him mid-air.
The blow felt like a siege engine. His ribs cracked with audible snaps that could be heard from fifty feet away, and air exploded from his lungs.
Elias hit the ground hard, rolling through mud and gore, and came up coughing blood.
Vitality: 1987 / 2385
Stamina: 412 / 613
Glancing at his vitality, he was pleased that he had taken less damage than he had anticipated, but he knew that the fist of the giant barely clipped him; a few more inches and he would be broken on the floor.
His recovery ability was struggling to put him together, aided by the swarm as bone knitted together, and his punctured lungs were being sealed, but the damage was real and deep.
The giant’s strength was monstrous, and a few spots of silver mist were beginning to rise from his skin; his Mist Phantom ability was also rapidly recovering.
Elias grinned through bloody teeth. This was it, this was the edge.
"Boy, you are a Wisp, and you nearly killed me just now," the giant spoke, as he reached behind him and touched the lacerations on his back, then he brought his bloody hands to his mouth and suckled on his fingers.
The silver mist that was slowly erupting from his skin suddenly blazed to life, although it was not as much as before; it was growing.
"Oh, how I shall make you beg for death."
Then the giant advanced again, and with the mist flaring brighter from his skin, causing small bursts of flames to lick outward, he resembled a god of fire.
Elias did not run; he only switched his attention to the limit, as the giant descended upon him, swinging the club in wide arcs.
Each blow cratered the ground, sending shockwaves of dirt, flesh, and bone shards flying.
Elias danced between them, his Agility carrying him through gaps no normal man could thread, his bladed hands extending forward to parry and slice anywhere he saw a chance.
He scored hit after hit, thigh, flank, ribs, but the giant’s durability was obscene. Wounds closed almost as fast as they opened, silver mist pouring into torn flesh like liquid metal.
Yes, the giant was also healing!
