Level 1 to Infinity: My Bloodline Is the Ultimate Cheat!-Chapter 198: The Master’s Touch
Everyone was startled when Greg suddenly jumped up. For a moment, no one reacted, but by the time they did, he had already collapsed to the ground.
Greg’s mother let out a sharp scream and rushed to his side, trying to help him up. The others quickly joined in, offering their assistance.
"Master, what’s wrong with my son? Why did he faint again?" Greg’s mother grabbed Dr. Aldric’s hand, her voice trembling with worry.
This time, Ethan noticed something. Dr. Aldric gently patted Greg’s mother’s hand, and now that Ethan knew she was a woman, the gesture seemed perfectly normal. Through her disguise, he could see her expression—genuine concern. He realized he’d been too quick to judge earlier.
But now, it seemed even Dr. Aldric was at a loss. Ethan wasn’t sure if she could see the dark mist pouring out of Greg’s body, growing thicker by the second, almost reaching the same density as before. It looked like the golden needles she’d used earlier had only provided a temporary fix, not a permanent solution.
Using his Soul Sense, Ethan peered into Greg’s body. The dark mist seemed to be generated out of nowhere, with no clear source. Yet, despite the mist, Greg’s vital signs were much stronger than the other three patients.
Dr. Aldric might not have been speaking, but every time she touched Greg’s mother’s hand, a faint yellow energy flowed into her, calming her down.
Greg’s mother slowly settled back into her chair by the bed, tears welling up in her eyes again.
Dr. Aldric handed the golden needle to one of her apprentices. The apprentice wiped the needle with a clean cotton ball, then brought it to his nose to sniff. Ethan’s eyes widened—he almost stepped forward to stop him, but it was too late.
’This guy’s got some nerve,’ Ethan thought. ’Isn’t he afraid of those black things crawling into his nose?’
But upon closer inspection, Ethan noticed that the black specks, which had once looked like tiny worms, were now lifeless, more like some kind of carbon residue. He couldn’t quite figure out what they were.
The apprentice, the same one who had earlier asked Greg’s mother for money, glanced out the window after sniffing the needle, then nodded to Dr. Aldric. Most people might have missed the gesture, but Ethan’s heightened senses caught it immediately.
The three of them began packing up, preparing to leave. Greg’s mother quickly stood up and grabbed Dr. Aldric’s sleeve.
"Master, you can’t leave yet! My son isn’t better!" she pleaded. Her son had woken up once, and that had been enough to convince her of Dr. Aldric’s abilities. The medical monitors showed Greg’s vitals had improved significantly.
"Today’s treatment is complete. If you need further treatment, you can reach us at this address. My master is elderly and doesn’t travel easily," one of the apprentices said, handing Greg’s mother a business card.
The other parents, seeing that he was about to leave, began clamoring for her to treat their children as well. Everyone except Rowan’s father.
Ethan found that odd. Greg’s parents, along with the parents of the other two boys, were desperate for Dr. Aldric’s help. Why was Rowan’s father staying back, unmoved?
"I’m sorry," the apprentice continued. "That’s all for today. If you seek further treatment, you may bring the patients to our clinic."
Ethan couldn’t help but chuckle. He turned to the two nurses standing nearby and asked, "Isn’t this basically stealing patients from the hospital? Why aren’t you doing anything about it?"
The nurses exchanged a look. One of them, a young woman with soft features and intelligent eyes, sighed. "You don’t get it, do you? Dr. Aldric is a respected professor affiliated with the hospital. Even the director treats him with the utmost respect.
She shrugged. "Besides, cases like these—the ones where critical condition notices have already been signed are beyond our help. If the families want to believe in him, that’s their choice. And legally, the hospital isn’t liable for anything that happens after they sign the waivers."
She hesitated as if she wanted to say more, but the other nurse nudged her, and she quickly shut her mouth.
"Wait, that doesn’t make sense," Ethan said, raising an eyebrow. "You just said people can’t find Dr. Aldric, but now you’re saying he’s a professor at your hospital?"
"Well, he’s hard to find! His clinic is usually run by his granddaughter. Rumor has it that Dr. Aldric spends most of his time resting at his countryside home and rarely comes to Ember City."
"Oh…" Ethan drew out the word, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
The nurse shot him a glare, then grabbed her colleague’s arm, and the two of them hurried away.
Ethan almost laughed. His granddaughter, huh? Now that he knew the truth, it was almost comical. Dr. Aldric wasn’t some mysterious old man—she was a young woman, barely twenty, masquerading as a traditional healer.
And yet… she was good.
He felt a slight twinge of embarrassment as he recalled what he’d seen earlier.
Just then, Dr. Aldric passed by, supported by her two apprentices. She stopped briefly and turned toward him, her gaze meeting his.
There was a flicker of amusement in her eyes. She’d noticed something.
"Hmph." She snorted softly, barely loud enough for anyone else to hear.
Then, without warning, she flicked her wrist.
A faint pulse of golden energy shot from the folds of her robe—aimed directly at Ethan’s lower body.
"What the—?!" Ethan barely dodged in time. The energy grazed his thigh before dissipating against the wall behind him.
A cold sweat broke out across his forehead. ’This woman is ruthless! She was aiming for my—’
He paused.

She wasn’t actually trying to hurt him.
If she really knew he’d seen through her disguise, she wouldn’t have sent a warning shot. No, she must have sensed someone using Soul Sense to observe her but had no idea how deeply Ethan had looked.
That attack wasn’t an assassination attempt. Even if he hadn’t dodged, it probably wouldn’t have done any real harm. It was just a prank, a way to mess with him.
The realization made him chuckle. ’She’s actually kind of funny.’
One of her apprentices glanced between them, confused. Then, as if struck by an idea, he hastily pulled out a business card and offered it to Ethan.
Ethan took it, watching as the trio slowly made their way toward the exit.
He flipped the card over in his fingers, half amused. ’Did that guy think his master had diagnosed me with some mysterious illness and was about to scam me, too?’
"Ethan, what’s going on?"
Victor’s voice cut through his thoughts.
Ethan turned to see him pushing through the crowd, eyes darting between him and the retreating figures of Dr. Aldric and her apprentices.
It was only then that Ethan realized—everyone in the room was staring at him. with strange looks.
