Level 1 to Infinity: My Bloodline Is the Ultimate Cheat!-Chapter 340: Drained
Chapter 340: Drained
As the miniature Twilight War Spear materialized, Ethan felt his entire reservoir of Soul Power drain in an instant. Not just from his body, but even the Divine Lake within his Mindscape was nearly emptied—its shimmering waters reduced to a dull, glassy bottom.
And yet... the spear didn’t behave as he expected. It didn’t vanish after a single strike. Instead, it spun gently, then drifted back to rest above the central island in his Mindscape.
The beetle was annihilated, but Ethan swayed on his feet, vision swimming. He almost collapsed from the aftermath.
All of this had happened in a matter of seconds.
Markham was beside him in a flash, steadying him with one hand. A five-pointed foil star appeared in Markham’s other hand. He flung it to the ground without hesitation.
"By the Ancients..."
Poof!
A burst of white smoke exploded around them—and the two men vanished from sight.
Moments later, a hunched figure in a ragged grey cloak appeared briefly at the scene. The old man paused for only an instant before fading away like a ghost on the wind.
—
Ethan stirred.
He had no idea how much time had passed. As he slowly opened his eyes, he found himself seated on a plane. Markham was beside him, his face a nauseated shade of green. When he noticed Ethan waking, he asked weakly, "You back with us?"
Ethan nodded, but didn’t speak. He was too drained to bother.
Instead, he turned his awareness inward, slipping back into his Mindscape.
Where once tye Lake had felt endless, now he could see its sandy floor. There was barely enough Soul Power to form ripples, though a faint shimmer had begun to reaccumulate. It would be a long road back.
His gaze shifted to the Twilight War Spear, floating gently above the crown of the giant tree at the center of the lake. It hovered there in silence, pulsing softly with light.
’What the hell is this thing...?’
He tried the technique again—willing the spear to dissolve, to return its energy to him—but nothing happened. No matter how many times he invoked the technique, the weapon remained stubbornly in place.
The technique had failed.
With a sigh of frustration, Ethan withdrew from his Mindscape. His Soul Power would have to recover the natural way, drop by agonizing drop. At this rate, it might take a hundred years before the lake refilled.
Back in his body, he felt something else had changed. The sapling within him had grown. No longer a thin sprout, it now had a sturdy, healthy trunk. Its five tendrils had lengthened too, now mere inches away from his vital organs: heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys.
He couldn’t help but wonder what would happen when they finally reached their destinations.
Suddenly, the plane tilted.
They were descending.
Ethan opened his eyes just as the aircraft began its approach. After they landed, Markham’s complexion improved—slightly. Not even motion sickness pills seemed able to save him from this kind of ordeal.
Markham helped Ethan off the plane. As they exited the terminal, a small group ran toward them.
Maria. Ryan. Leeroy.
Ryan and Leeroy immediately flanked Ethan, supporting him on both sides.
"What are you guys doing here?" Ethan asked, surprised.
"My brother said you were injured," Maria replied quickly. "So we came right away!"
Markham cut in. "Where’s Matriarch? And Aunt Melinda? Did they go ahead?"
Maria nodded. "Yes. After receiving your Dragon Soul message, they headed straight to thst place."
Markham’s expression darkened. "Damn it... using living people to Brood curses—on our land? Unforgivable."
Ethan had been wondering how Markham had even gotten word out to the Hidden Territory. So the Dragon Souls could communicate in this manner. That explained it.
"Come on," Maria said, waving them toward the curb. "Let’s get you home."
"Matriarch told us not to hang around. After the Silverwood incident, things are unstable. She said we should all lay low for now."
Ethan nodded, and the group began heading outside.
They were about to hail a cab when Ethan motioned for them to wait. Finding a quiet corner, he summoned what little Soul Power he had left—and conjured the Predator Beast X.
A soft hum filled the air as the massive vehicle materialized before them, casting long shadows on the pavement.
Just seeing it gave Ethan peace of mind. This beast of a machine was the only thing that made him feel truly secure.
Markham’s sour mood evaporated the instant he saw the car.
His eyes lit up. "This... this is insane! What kind of car is this?"
He lunged for the driver’s side, hand outstretched—but a blur of motion zipped past him.
Maria.
She darted in front of him, yanked open the driver’s door, slid inside, and rolled the window down—all in one smooth motion.
"Get in!" she called out, grinning.
Markham’s hand hovered in the air like it had frozen mid-reach.
"Brother, what are you standing there for?" Maria teased from the window. The rest of the group had already piled in, leaving Markham alone outside with his pride.
After a long pause, he exhaled, jaw tightening, and climbed in. As soon as he sat down, he pulled out a small vial, shook a pill into his hand, and swallowed it.
Ethan recognized it instantly.
The motion sickness pill the flight attendant—had given him earlier.
"You still get car sick?" Ethan asked.
Markham smiled thinly and shook his head, not even bothering to deny it.
Then the Predator Beast X roared to life.
Vroom! Vroom!
Ethan’s eyebrows rose.
From his angle, he could see Maria bouncing slightly in the driver’s seat, her small frame dwarfed by the enormous controls. She was fiddling with the seat height, but more worryingly—her face was practically glowing with excitement.
Her foot was already pressing hard on the gas.
Ethan finally understood the dread in Markham’s eyes.
Click. The sound of a seatbelt locking in place came from Markham’s direction.
"Alright, let’s go home!" Maria yelled.
The next moment, the heavy vehicle shot forward like a cannonball.
Ethan was slammed into his seat by the sudden acceleration.
Click-click-click! All around the cabin, belts were fastening. Evelyn, seated beside Ethan, reached over and buckled his for him.
He gave her a look of gratitude. He didn’t have the strength to lift his arms, let alone secure a seatbelt.
The ride that followed was nothing short of madness.
The Predator Beast X tore through the winding mountain roads, its wheels inches from the edge of sheer cliffs. From Ethan’s seat, it felt like half the car was hanging in the air.
Maria never eased off the gas. Not even for the tightest turns.
The entire vehicle drifted through the hairpins like some deranged rally car. Ethan’s heart was in his throat. The others looked just as terrified.
Markham’s face had turned a ghastly shade of green. His eyes were shut tight, hands clamped on the door handle like his life depended on it.
Thirty minutes later—
Screeeech!
The tires screamed as the car skidded to a halt.
Everyone inside lurched forward. If not for the seatbelts, they’d have flown through the windshield.
"We’re here!" Maria turned in her seat, beaming.
Ethan sat pale and breathless, silently vowing never to ride in a car she was driving again. Once was enough.
The Chase siblings looked equally shell-shocked. Markham was the first to react, flinging the door open and stumbling out onto solid ground.
"Now do you understand," he gasped, "why my family doesn’t own a car?"
Ryan and Leeroy nodded like their lives depended on it.
Ethan was the last to get out. Over an hour later, they finally reached the Hidden Territory.
Leo and the others were waiting at the entrance, eyes anxious until they saw Ethan. When the group arrived, the tension visibly lifted from all four men.
No words were spoken—but they weren’t needed.
Leo, Victor, Williams, and Ethan hadn’t known each other long, but they had survived battles together. Bonds like that didn’t need explanations.
As they neared the Markham family’s estate, Ethan noticed one of the villas had already taken shape. Construction had clearly continued while he and Markham were away.
Later, after eating and resting, Ethan returned to his room and unboxed his new acquisition: the X-SUP Model VR Capsule. freewebnσvel.cøm
It had cost over twelve million dollars, and it looked every bit the part. Sleek. Imposing. The purplish-black casing gleamed under the light. Ethan ran his hand over its smooth surface, a small smile tugging at his lips.
This was the world’s top-of-the-line Ethereal VR capsule. And now, it was his.
He inserted his ID card and powered it up. Then, laying down inside, he initiated the activation sequence.
In Ethereal, each person could own one headset and one capsule—no more. The moment this one activated, his old one would be permanently deactivated. To unbind it, he’d have to activate a new machine, which would lock this one completely. It would only be usable again if shipped back to the factory for a full identity system reset.
Why the developers were so strict with device usage, he had no idea.
Once it finished booting, Ethan entered Ethereal.
The scene shifted instantly.
He found himself standing once again on the staircase of Blood Castle—right where he had left off—ascending from the second to the third floor.
