Levelling Up, I Became The strongest Dragon Elementalist-Chapter 53: Zone ’X’
Jayden had begun taking baby Draco’s cultivation more of a priority than a task cuz he literally made Jayden appear like a dad throughout the journey to the extent Jayden lost count of the number of candies he got.
"So... are we finally here?" Draco looked up to Jayden while opening another candy.
At this point. They stood outside a large courtyard, demarcated with a wire mesh fence and crowned with twisted barbed wire.
Jayden looked around to make sure guards weren’t watching, "This, my dear, is Zone ’X’, one of the four spots where dragons lay dead seven hundred and fifty years ago, and most certainly one of the most mutated areas."
"So logically, it’s one of the spots with immense mana on Earth?" Baby Draco asked.
"I’m glad your childish brain can still think properly!"
Baby Draco didn’t protest as long as Jayden kept on bringing in those candies. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"How are we gonna get in then?"
Jayden looked around, "Reasons like this were why I needed an Earth core at first, but someone blew the whole thing up."
"Heyyy, don’t bring that up again!" Draco rasped in Jayden’s mind.
Jayden scoffed, "We’ll just have to jump in, but be mindful of landing or we might..."
Jayden took a deep breath, ’dealing with this kid might not be any easier in this mana zone.
He bent low to Draco’s height, "From now onwards, these are the rules: walk on your toes, no noise, certainly not familiarity with strangers, and please, don’t leave my sight."
"Mmmh mhhw" baby Draco said with a mouth full of candy.
Jayden wasn’t sure of what he said either but he just assumed Draco understood.
He stood up, "Okay, to avoid causing much vibrations, I’ll jump first then—"
"Wiiiii..." Draco screamed while jumping over the fence and certainly crashed into the ground like a sack of wood.
"Ohh shit" Jayden hit his temple and immediately followed over the fence while casting flames in an arc around Draco to defend him from incoming vines.
"You....ah....hu." Jayden stammered, wanting to bust out in rage but there were certainly no words that would put this guy in place.
Jayden breaths down, again and again then turned to Draco with a calm tone,
"This smoke would buy us company in no time so follow me and run on your toes."
Jayden blazed away, leaving the fire as bait to all the guards in Zone X while he and Draco flew to no particular direction.
"Um, where are we going Jayden?"
"Just shut up and keep on running till we find a cave, the mana should be more concentrated underground."
They kept on running, turning beside the wild trees, and the wind trailing behind them drew the attention of wild beasts’.
"Finally a cave!" Jayden whispered.
But there were numerous horned bunnies at the entrance.
"Brother, should I clear the way?"
"One candy!" Jayden smirked.
Baby Draco Flash stepped ahead of Jayden, setting each bunny’s short tail on fire, and they scattered with sharp squeaks of pain.
Jayden clenched his teeth, "Must you ruin everything?" He pulled back all the bunnies with the wind current and quenched the fire while scattering the smoke through the bush.
Jayden turned to Draco, "No candy for you."
Draco touched fingers together, avoiding eye contact with Jayden, "How about chocolate bars?"
Jayden hissed and began walking into the deep cave with a fireball in his arm lighting up the dark terrain
The cave looks naturally formed with a lot of beast footprints of different sizes.
"Shit" Jayden whispered. The rectangle of soil below his foot pressed down like a trap trigger.
The sounds of a dangling chain rang from behind, and Jayden turned to see a caltrop—a heavy circular metal with iron spikes, flying straight at him.
’There’s a trap in Zone X? What the fuck?’
Jayden gathered a massive current of wind in his fist, powering up his charge with a fireball in his elbow, though it was damn hard regulating both contradicting temperatures at once, but with complete knowledge of the human anatomy, he could pull it off to some certain level without school lessons.
Draco stepped in, throwing a kick right at the chain and the impact redirected the caltrops to hit the wall, causing the whole cave to vibrate.
Draco landed then looked at Jayden with gleaming eyes, "How about now?"
Jayden dropped his stance and tossed Draco a candy from his pocket, "I had that one but still you earned it."
Jayden looked deeper into the cave, ’If there are artificial traps here, then this place isn’t just a restricted area because of its mana concentration, there’s more to it
Could it be,
MAGEO?
The President?
NGO’s?
Who could be behind the curtains this time?
Jayden calmly stumped a foot to the floor as wind gushed out of him, clearing the dust that covered the trap triggers, set randomly along the path
They walked down the end of the cave, noticing skeletons of long-dead beast, most likely killed by traps.
Jayden bit his lips, noticing a hole in the ground and a ladder that connected downwards.
He smiled, "Look what we have here, certainly another operation done in the dark.
"Follow me", he jumped down without touching the ladder, cuz detectives these days have omniscient eyes.
Jayden’s mouth was left wide open to the new terrain he saw.
The place was as large as an open stadium, enclosed with earth and from where he stood, stirs, carved from the walls, circled the place down to the least fo the ground.
Not to mention, the mana was much purer here, almost like in Vaelora, but no guards were spotted; it seems more like beasts were the ones on patrol down here.
Draco jumped down to join Jayden, "Guy, this place is rich, we’re cultivating here, right?"
"Whoa!" Jayden gasped for air when he noticed the big building at the centre of the platform.
Actually, it was shaped like a volcano and four stories tall.
Jayden narrowed his gaze, unsure to believe what he was seeing.
"Isn’t that?, Paramax Architectural Structure?"
