Chapter 247: That’s Not An Elf!

We successfully stopped all three waves from Halphas’s legion.

The mixed rabble squad.

Furcas’s Pale Riders.

Shax’s cockatrices.

There were definitely some close calls—honestly, we were risking our lives—but hey, we won anyway.

We completely wiped out the mixed rabble squad,

drove back the Pale Riders and crushed their remaining forces,

and in the end, we destroyed Shax’s entire cockatrice unit and captured Shax herself.

On top of that, victory bells rang at Gremory’s dungeon too.

Amy, who’d tried to pull off an uprising against Gremory despite being outranked, ended up kneeling before Gremory’s mercenary tactics and divine power.

If all the fighting ended here and now, we’d have perfectly defended against Halphas’s legion’s opening assault.

"Man, I thought I was gonna die from stress."

"It’s not completely over yet. We need to check if the enemy has reinforcements."

"I’ve got an idea about that. Gremory, let’s deal with your side first."

Our dungeon had the buffer of basement 1, so we had some breathing room. After blocking three waves, we had even more. So the priority was securing Gremory’s side, which was basically our rear.

"You got enough defensive forces now?"

"Amy brought everything she had. There’s nobody left to come over from Amy’s dungeon... but the fact that there’s a portal open for others to invade my dungeon really pisses me off. What’re you gonna do about it?"

"So Amy’s army is gone..."

I was a bit concerned deep down, but not too worried. Even if someone showed up, Galahad was there, so no big deal.

"Galahad, keep staying by Amy’s side. Gremory, you keep defending your dungeon too. The forces you have now will be your standing army."

"But you’re gonna mobilize the orcs again if push comes to shove, right?"

"If we need to, yeah. But it’s fine. We’re just gonna play defense until the portal becomes two-way."

"Hmm, really?"

I’d been too busy defending to bring it up, but yeah, recklessly attacking Halphas’s legion wasn’t the smart move.

’Because Shax might be weak.’

Pride and arrogance are the fastest route to defeat. The reason I’ve been able to beat enemies is because I always assume they’re stronger than me and put in every effort to gather intel on them.

So I still had to assume Halphas’s legion was stronger than us, and I needed to squeeze as much information out of Shax as possible.

Grumble.

The moment I tried to move, my belly clock went off. Come to think of it, I hadn’t eaten, drunk, or rested properly since midnight.

"...They’re not coming anymore, right?"

"Right. Shax said there’s nobody behind her."

"Then, is there a way for them to figure out Shax got defeated?"

"If they check the Bond Summon and see all the cockatrice units registered there, they’ll know. But Halphas won’t be able to send reinforcements easily. The fact that everyone except Shax died means Shax is a hostage."

"Right? They won’t attack rashly, right? We can rest today, right?"

We had to rest. Whether I drank Lune’s Fitness Aid, buried my head in Luna’s milk pillows, or fell asleep in Shaitan’s embrace in my dreams again, I needed rest.

But if I was gonna rest anyway, filling my battle-starved belly would be best.

"Shaitan. You got rid of all the cockatrices on basement 1, right?"

"Yes. Except for the 35 that were turned into ghouls, I gathered them all in one place like you said."

"Okay..."

I was thinking cockatrice chicken soup, but gutting them was a problem, and so was the water puddle. There was too much blood pooled to boil the river water, plus it felt gross since it was water that Shax had basically puked up.

’Should I consider it a reward?’

She didn’t actually vomit river water, but that’s what it looked like. Even so, boiling stuff in the puddle was problematic in more ways than one.

’But gutting them is too much of a pain in the ass.’

When the hell was I gonna slice open cockatrices and pull out their guts? The ghouls and slimes would happily devour them, but I didn’t have time to waste on prep work when I needed to fill my belly now.

"...Can’t be helped. Shaitan, Gremory, gather the orcs from the ranch who didn’t fight. Have them each bring a saw, knife, whatever sharp tool they can butcher with and call them here."

"You look tired though, do you really need to prep them now...?"

"Nah. I’m not gonna prep them. Just gonna cut out the edible parts."

I waved my hand at the legs.

"Let’s just go with no-sauce wing drumsticks over direct fire today."

And thus was born the greatest nutritious snack of our legion: Twisted Underworld Cockatrice Wing Drumsticks.

***

Chomp. Chomp.

Shax came to from the grating sound of food being chewed. Her consciousness was foggy, but she quickly assessed her situation.

’Damn it, damn it.’

Tears welled up in Shax’s eyes. She’d planned to summon river water to break through the flame trap and cross the filled water, but she resented that she couldn’t operate the cockatrice unit perfectly.

’If only I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have to suffer this humiliation.’

But Shax had already lost, and the orc had forced himself on her in front of all kinds of soldiers. The fact they were different species didn’t matter to the orc at all, and she’d pathetically moaned while being fucked by an orc.

’Should I just kill myself?’

If she was reborn through Halphas’s Bond Summon, even if the memories remained, her defiled body would return to normal.

’But I can’t do that.’

As her daughter, she knew Halphas’s temperament well. She talked a good game about boosting morale, but the contempt and disgust for losers underlying Halphas’s true feelings would be a huge humiliation for Shax.

’I might not even get Bond Summoned.’

Which meant even if she died, the chance of revival was zero. Tears welled up in Shax’s eyes at her situation.

"Hey, hey. You awake? I got some questions."

And Shax bit her lip at the voice of the person entering the prison she was confined in. A metallic taste of blood filled her mouth, and Shax forgot she was even tied up and kicked her leg at the newcomer.

"You son of a bitch!"

Clang!

Shax’s leg had solid iron shackles on it. Only then did Shax realize what position she was in.

"Wha, what...!"

Shax was sitting leaned against the wall, her arms raised straight up, her legs spread wide to either side. Her face flushed red at the posture, like a worn-out whore begging for a man.

"I don’t even know if my parents are human or orc, and you’re calling me a son of a bitch? That’s harsh. You Halphas bitch."

The orc countered her insult with a worse one and set down a bowl. In front of Shax was mysterious meat covered in white cream.

"There’s a saying that even a banshee who died eating looks pretty. Just eat up. Let’s talk while you eat."

The orc pulled on the chain connected to Shax’s wrist shackles. Shax’s head was forced down, and she had to lower her head toward the bowl like a bird pecking at feed.

"...You want me to eat like this?"

"Of course. Don’t all birds peck their food like this?"

"...I’m a birdman. Technically a demi-human."

"Yeah? Still half bird though, right? Since you’re not saying you won’t eat, that means you will. Just eat."

"...."

Like the orc said, Shax was incredibly hungry. She felt humiliated receiving mercy from the one who’d violated her, making her whole body tremble, but she was still satisfied she could at least cover her chest and belly, and lightly touched her tongue to the sauce.

"...Lick."

Shax neatly swallowed a piece of meat cut into bite-sized chunks. The orc looked even more dumbfounded at Shax eating the sauce-covered meat without any hesitation.

"...Tasty?"

"Pretty good."

"What if it was poisoned?"

"Better to be poisoned by the enemy than gang-banged to death by orcs."

At Shax’s venomous glare, the orc casually scratched his cheek and sat down facing Shax.

"I want information."

"Don’t violate me and I’ll give you information."

"...I appreciate the fast-moving conversation, but isn’t this skipping too many steps?"

"I’m pretty smart, you know."

Shax raised her head and sneered at the orc. She’d already gotten a full read on the orc’s personality from just these few exchanges.

"You’re planning to extract information about our legion from me, right? ...Promise not to rape me and I’ll hand it over. Even if we reach a ceasefire and I return to base, I’ll keep what happened in this dungeon a secret."

"And you expect me to believe that?"

"Then what, you want me to broadcast getting fucked by you everywhere? Oh my, Miss Shax! How’d you end up moaning under a pig orc! Where do you get off saying such ridiculous shit!"

"...Shouldn’t I be the one asking where you get off saying such ridiculous shit?"

"I said it because I knew you’d say that. ...The information I’ll give you is everything about our legion."

"So you really hate getting fucked by me that much... shame."

The orc seemed genuinely disappointed.

"You tasted pretty good."

"...Who are you talking about right now?"

"You."

"...."

Shax wanted to spit but held back. If she acted rashly, the orc’s eyes might glaze over and he’d violate her again. Once was enough for being pinned down by an orc and screaming.

"Mmm... are you maybe upset you got wrecked without even getting to fight properly?"

"Isn’t that obvious? You call that a fight?"

"A man and woman fighting on the bed... it just happened to be the dungeon floor instead. Then fine. Let’s make a bet."

The orc made Shax a sweet offer she couldn’t refuse.

"If you fight our dungeon’s elf 1-on-1 and win, I won’t touch a hair on your head for four days. And as soon as the portal direction changes, I’ll let you return to base. How’s that?"

"...What if I lose?"

"You’re asking about ’what if’ instead of questioning the winning scenario? Feeling nervous? Don’t worry. The elf is my subordinate. Won’t use any weapons, just hands. How about it?"

"What? Pfft, fine. If that’s all, then I welcome it."

Shax was brimming with confidence. The orc pulled on the chain, forcing Shax’s head up.

"But if you lose, you become my slave. Got it?"

"...Give me a moment to think."

No need to think. The reason Shax asked for time was to visualize in her head how she’d beat the elf, and the orc didn’t stop her.

’I can win.’

Yeah, she could win. Without her armor doll her defense was weaker, but Shax was still confident of victory. If she recovered just a bit more mana, Shax could definitely win.

"Then come out."

Crack, crack!

The orc freed Shax by stomping on the shackles with his foot. His face showed he’d already noticed Shax using magic to destroy the shackles during their conversation.

’I can win, right?’

Shax felt inexplicably anxious. She could definitely win, but a slight anxiety about becoming a slave if she lost started disturbing her mind.

’If I become a slave, he’ll definitely make me do that again.’

Should I just really kill myself? Even Halphas wouldn’t refuse to revive her own daughter, right? Tears welled in Shax’s eyes at her situation.

If she died, she couldn’t guarantee revival.

If she stayed alive, the orc would keep violating her.

So the only way for Shax to maintain her dignity and survive was to beat the elf.

"Come at me, whoever! I’ll make you kneel!"

"Yeah, sure. Luna!"

"You called?"

Shax despaired at the overwhelming size. Then she pointed at the dark elf who appeared casually and screamed.

"That’s a dark elf!"

"Whoops, Luna. Wanna go get some fresh air outside?"

"Sure."

Outside the dungeon where the past-noon sunlight sparkled.

"Ta-da, elf appearance!"

Shax nearly fainted at the sight of the exhibitionist elf who’d turned white, and actually fainted from the punch that came without warning.
