Life didn't get easier, even in another world-Chương 420: Seal
Chương 420: Seal
Gray threads and pebbles of light whirled in the air, circling around the lifeless body and surrounding it in a bizarre glow. It lasted only for a few seconds and the flash of light vanished as fast as it appeared. It appeared that no change had happened, but in the two individual's senses, it was clear that a soul was forcefully dragged away.
A brief silence descended in the area.
-But well, do you think you can really pull it off?
Fate's voice was as nonchalant as before as if nothing had happened or he didn't have the slightest worry about the state of the soul that just got dragged out of this world.
"...."
Roy's grip around the corpse tightened. He replied without looking up.
"I'll make sure of my success."
-Well sure you will. However...
The sketch-like figure stepped back, creating some distance between himself and the redhead.
-Samuel is smarter than you.
"...."
That was hurtful, but the truth.

-He'll eventually find out about your plans and stop you. He's stronger.
That was true as well.
"Then what do you want me to do?"
-Nothing.
Suddenly, the glow of gray that had faded from the surroundings burst up.
-Just forget about your plans and keep doing what you've started.
"Wha-"
-You'll eventually remember everything when the time comes.
The whole area was once again dyed gray. Even the sound of the rumbling sky and the crimson flashes of thunderbolts were gone.
-What do you say?
"...Do I even have a choice?"
-What do you take me for?
The Fate gave a tilt to his head before reaching out a hand.
-It's a contract, so both parties must agree to it.
"Another contract. One to remove my true goal from my memories."
Does that mean that he would continue to aimlessly switch worlds and witness their downfall and end? Or maybe, he'd keep moving from world to world and seek out a way to stop the wave. In the first place, he didn't even know what he needed to do in order to replace The Reason.
But there was one thing that bestowed him some confidence.
Fate.
That diety was the one offering him the contract. Who was Fate? It was exactly the very meaning of 'Fate'. This person knew what had happened in the past and what would befall in the future.
And the fact that it was confidently offering Roy a way to remove his memories meant that there was a future where he'd succeed in setting his goal into stone, even with his memory removed.
"Alright."
As soon as he grabbed the reached-out hand of Fate, threads of gray shot out from the sketch-like figure and wrapped around Roy's, seeping into his body disappearing with no trace.
-Done.
The shimmering light of the surroundings vanished instantly. With no further words, the figure of Fate also got erased like a painting.
"...."
Roy lowered his gaze back down to the corpse. His soul was gone now, to somewhere unknown to even him. What kind of life would he get in this reincarnation of his? Would he have a decent family? People to rely on? Proper living conditions?
But what rights did Roy have to hope for the best conditions for this child when he never provided him with such? He even abandoned him for more than ten years. He left the child, who didn't have anyone and anything besides Roy, all alone in this world.
"...Will we ever meet again, I wonder."
Such a sinful wish was that.
"What in the, pant, what in the world happened here-"
Just then, a voice rang out and a figure appeared in the distance. A blonde young man was approaching Roy at a high speed, sprinting with all his might. He must've sprinted all the way up here as soon as the wave hit the barrier. Arthur had a baffled expression and once his eyes caught on the state of the area, his face grew even more exasperated.
"What happened here, Reynold...?"
The boy's hurried steps came to an abrupt halt. His gaze lingered on Roy, or more specifically, on the body in his arms.
"....What....?"
Could he still recognize his friend when he was in such a tattered state? The scene must be horrifying for this child, Roy couldn't help but sigh. He shook his head and, despite his unwillingness, carefully laid the corpse down on the ground.
"....."
The sky has calmed down significantly. The thunderbolts were perishing one by one, and the wave of chaos seemed to have changed its course.
Yet, something was strange.
Chaos was not completely gone.
It was faint, but for someone like him, it wasn't unrecognizable. Roy turned around, staring at a spot in the air. In his heightened senses, a twist or maybe a shift could be seen in the atmosphere.
Grrrr
And there it came after seconds of stillness, a growl that couldn't belong to any human and a power that none of the ordinary animals could possess.
'So, this is the result of opposing Chaos.'
The price of saving the world was an everlasting scar to it.
Was it worth it? The answer depended on the people of this land.
Roy shifted his gaze back to the young man in front of him. Arthur was kneeling down next to the shattered corpse, staring at it with the palest face Roy had ever seen on anyone, besides Samuel. The young man's gaze shifted up to Roy. His eyes screamed the words that his mouth couldn't.
"It was his choice."
The redhead's voice didn't crack one bit as he spoke. There were no hints of sorrow or regret in his face anymore.
"...What?... What have you... Done to him..."
He stared at the man's blood-soaked clothes and expressionless face as if watching a ruthless murderer. Fear and rage had blended in his eyes, but it seemed that his actions were suspended by the sudden grief he was struck with. Arthur's whole body was shaking like a drenched animal in the winter.
"There are more important things to take care of now."
Roy pointed to one side with a finger.
"....?"
The daze cleared from the boy's expression upon witnessing the sight in front of his eyes. Figures, not like anything he'd ever seen or imagined in his life, were emerging from thin air while making weird noises and giving out threatening auras.
