Life Simulation: My Talent Is Wool-Chapter 14: First Blood
King cobra.
Not just one, but three of them.
The three king cobras had greenish scales, somewhat resembling precious jades, but their vicious eyes with their forked tongues sticking out did not allow one to appreciate their beauty.
Each one had a width larger than Luan’s thigh, capable of even swallowing a fat rabbit whole.
And, they should measure at least 5 meters.
But, soon something strange happened.
All three king cobras focused their gazes on Catharina, ignoring Luan as if he didn’t even exist.
In fact, each of these king cobras were Lv1, but far superior to most Lv1 humans. To defeat just one separately would require at least two humans.
With three king cobras, it made Luan extremely cautious, even knowing that Catharina was not an ordinary human.
Catharina, who stood up, waved her left hand, saying in a cold and authoritative voice: "Scram!"
Her gaze and coldness made the three king cobras retreat a little, but they did not leave. Their heads swayed as if in a dance, analyzing their prey.
Luan moved without making a sound.
He noticed that even while doing this, the main focus of the cobras was on Catharina, treating him like air.
It was understandable. Perhaps in the king cobras’ view, while Catharina was a powerful predator, Luan was a harmless rabbit.
Luan’s hands, up to his forearms, were surrounded by wool. Not just any wool, but one with hundreds of thousands of threads, thus becoming harder and more resistant.
However, by creating this, he practically used everything he had, perhaps only being able to create an insignificant amount of wool afterward.
Catharina, from the corner of her eyes, spotted Luan’s actions, but pretended not to see so as not to alert the cobras. She even intensified her ferocity, opening her arms, showing her nails and teeth in an intimidating manner, and it worked.
The king cobras, upon seeing her like that, fixed their eyes on Catharina, not daring to attack first, studying Catharina’s behavior, seeming to be waiting for an opening to strike.
"ZZZzzzzZZZzzz!"
Showing its forked tongue, the king cobra that was in the middle emitted a snake sound, and the instant Catharina slid her right foot a little back, it attacked!
The other two king cobras saw that as a signal and attacked as well.
But, little did they know that this was all a tactical agreement between her and Luan.
At the instant the cobras advanced, Luan had already positioned himself in a favorable location to attack.
The cobra on Catharina’s right side with its mouth wide open, showing its sharp teeth, sensed something, but when it lowered its head, trying to dodge... A kick from below came, followed by a punch from above that hit the top of its head.
*POW!*
The sound of the punch hitting the head of the cobra on the right successfully drew the attention of the other two.
That simple lapse of hesitation was enough for Catharina to charge at the cobras with her sharp claws and attack.
*Whooosh!*
Catharina’s claws moved very fast – fast enough to leave afterimages. A deep cut was made on the lower part of the cobras’ heads.
*Splurt*
Blood spurted from the king cobras. They began to writhe while raising their heads, then lowering them, seeming to be on fire, moving uncontrollably, as if that would somehow help.
On the other side, Luan stepped on the part right below the king cobra’s head, preventing it from writhing, but he was almost hit by the tail.
"Watch out!" Catharina shouted.
*PENG!*
With the arm gloved in wool, Luan used it to defend against the tail.
A cut mark appeared on the wool.
The struck arm became a little numb, but he managed to avoid suffering greater damage. A simple pain was nothing.
With the other hand, Luan assumed a posture to throw a punch with all his strength downward.
*POW!*
*CRACK!*
Even louder than the previous punch, the struck punch echoed while the sound of bone breaking was heard.
Catharina did not remain passive.
She extended her hands and grabbed the king cobras.
They struggled desperately, opening their mouths trying to be threatening.
The venom on their teeth dripped, but Catharina remained indifferent, increasing her grip, driving in her sharp razor-like nails, until her hands almost closed, making the cobras struggle less and less.
Minutes later, silence came.
None of the three king cobras showed signs of life.
Just to be safe, Luan cut off their heads.
"It’s over..." He murmured. His heart was beating a little fast.
Perhaps this is the mark of the first time in this world that he truly killed a Lv1 with his own hands using his talent.
It was also when he realized that using wool was not so bad after all when he looked at his hands.
Not only did it serve to protect his hands, but it also made his punches more powerful.
"What will we do with the bodies of these cobras?" Catharina asked.
"Eat." Luan replied without hesitation.
In the years he lived in the village he did not simply stay idle. With the goal of one day leaving and becoming a hunter, he needed to know how to fend for himself, especially studying several different types of venom, as well as how to prepare venomous snakes.
Among the books he read, there was information on how to prepare king cobra.
"Alright, I’ll help you." Catharina asked: "What do I need to do?"
"It’s like this..." Luan began to explain to her.
...
Suddenly, the simple pause to eat turned into something more interesting, so to speak.
With Lv1 king cobra meat, although a good part was stored, a portion that was cut was placed on the grill to roast.
The smell was even more seductive than the meat, and the taste...
The king cobra meat literally melted in their mouths.
"Delicious~~" On one of the rare occasions, Catharina shows an expression of pure delight with both hands on her cheeks slightly puffed with her eyes closed, savoring the taste of the snake meat.
"Yes, very good indeed~" Luan agreed with a smile.
The only thing that might be on par with it was Lv2 bear meat. But even so, he felt that, perhaps because it was hunted by himself and Catharina, the taste was exceptionally good, even better than Lv2 bear meat.
