Life Simulation: My Talent Is Wool-Chapter 24: Brugnar
Another world.
That was the feeling everyone had when entering a dungeon for the first time.
For Catharina, it was no different.
"Wow..."
She let a sigh of surprise escape.
Before their eyes, there were different trees, blue grass instead of green. Even the leaves of the trees were blue and the sky, instead of being predominantly blue, was actually a reddish tone, giving a gloomier feeling.
However, for Catharina, that scenery was ideal. Her powers increased a little just by being there.
"Get out of the way!"
A group of five came from the portal.
Each of them wore leather armor and had primitive weapons like sword, spear, shield and axe.
The most different was the girl who had just demanded that they get out of their way, she held a scepter with a monster core at the tip.
Monster cores are rare and expensive items. For her to have managed to buy this, she must be an experienced hunter or come from a rich family.
Without saying a single word, Luan and Catharina gave way.
The girl passed by them huffing.
Luan simply shook his head in helplessness.
It wasn’t worth starting trouble with someone so arrogant because of that.
After they left, Luan said: "Let’s go too."
"Mm." Catharina nodded.
The first floor of the dungeon was enormous. Bigger even than many cities.
Precisely because of that, so many people could enter, there were always monsters to kill.
The monsters were essentially created from energy.
The theory that says that hunters who die in the dungeon turn into energy, thus creating monsters.
It wasn’t a very nice thought to have.
"Take this!"
From afar, they heard a spirited shout.
In an open field, there were several hunters fighting against monsters.
The monsters lived up to the name. They were ugly, bloodthirsty, and had very few similarities to animals.
They were blue and red. Their skins were similar to those of a Sphynx cat. They had three enormous eyes, very large. Their heads were disproportionate to the body, being twice as large as that of an adult man and their eyes still occupied 70% of their faces. And their necks were long.
Their noses looked like pigs’, but with even larger nostrils. Their mouths were always open and their teeth seemed to have been taken out one yes, another no, which made them even more frightening in a way.
They were not very tall, their legs were short, but their arms were long, touching the ground. Their bellies were as big as those of a woman eight months pregnant.
The ears were enormous and they had no hair.
The name of these creatures was: Brugnar.
Although they were very ugly, even disgusting, the hunters liked to hunt them because they were clumsy and had a very simple attack pattern. Of course the most important reason is because of their eyes that looked like black obsidian spheres. Each of their eyes is worth 20 bronze coins. A single Brugnar yields 60 bronze coins.
And, although these ugly little creatures were clumsy, their arms were very strong.
Many novice hunters were killed for underestimating the strength of these creatures.
The most bizarre and frightening thing about these monsters was that they liked to grab the victim with their hands, crushing them to death while laughing.
Afterwards, they would start eating brutally.
"Never let your guard down near these creatures." Luan warned.
"I know." Even without his warning, Catharina wouldn’t dare underestimate them.
There is another thing he had already warned her about before. Something even more dangerous in a certain sense.
If someone dares to torture the Brugnar... They are destined for a terrible end.
Almost like a corpse explosion, when the Brugnar is taken to extreme pain, it starts to glow from its big belly, and then, they explode!
Because of that, the focus is not to drag out a fight against them, but rather, to finish them as quickly as possible.
It wasn’t difficult, but if a team doesn’t have substantial damage... It’s better not to even try.
Without Catharina, Luan wouldn’t dare come here.
Upon learning about these characteristics, it was one of the reasons for his motivation to train so hard, without daring to risk everything.
Luan spoke suddenly: "Let’s find a place that isn’t crowded with people."
Understanding why he said that, she nodded.
Although they were now inside the dungeon, and had a good excuse for Catharina’s singular characteristics, especially the fox one, Luan follows an old saying: Who is not seen, is not remembered.
Walking between the blue grasses, they advanced toward the South.
Almost an hour later, avoiding areas with many people, they arrived at a more distant area, with some Brugnar wandering through the woods.
Underneath the overcoat, Catharina’s double tail swung like a propeller. It was clear that she was itching to start hunting...
"There are three over there." Luan said: "On my signal, you attack the two blue ones on the left, and I the red one on the right, okay? Ah yes, don’t forget that you must not attack their bellies!"
"Mm." Catharina just murmured in agreement.
Catharina’s arms open, and thus her nails grew.
Luan’s hands were surrounded by wool in the form of threads; thousands of threads.
The two let their baggage drop to the ground.
"Now!"
At his command, Catharina advanced to the left, and he to the right.
The Brugnar had sensitive ears. When they heard his voice, they turned toward the voice and then raised their long arms upward, closing their hands into fists, looking like two sledgehammers.
Luan and Catharina advance head-on.
"Kuuk-haaa!"
With a strange cry, seeming to come straight from an old record that spins in reverse, the Brugnar let their hands fall toward them.
Anticipating this, having already studied their attack patterns, both Luan and Catharina dodged to the sides in a spin, losing very little speed, stopping behind them.
*Shhhk! Shhhk!*
*Wham!*
Tense consecutive sounds echoed.
Catharina’s hands in the shape of a shovel hit the necks of the Brugnar, piercing through them. While Luan’s fist hit the head of the other Brugnar.
"Gyahh!"
*Baque!*
With a loud ’thud’, the Brugnar hit by Luan fell face-first to the ground, but even with its head deformed by the punch, it still survived.
Luan’s right foot is enveloped by wool. Acting fast, without hesitation, he stomped on the neck of the Brugnar on the ground.
*CRACK!*
The belly of the Brugnar that had started to glow stopped.
Luan let out a sigh of relief.
While the two Brugnar that were finished by Catharina fell to the ground with a muffled "Thud", stopping moving.
’I still have a long way to go...’ He thought, knowing his own limitations compared to Catharina.
