Limitless Cultivation: I Can Master Every Profession!-Chapter 48: Escape
Chapter 48: Escape
Chapter 48: Escape
.
Everything happened so fast that no one even had time to react to Zhu Rong’s words.
The shockwave from the impact was strong enough to push the two girls back several steps, since they were closest to the blast,
while Li Daniu, who was already at some distance, managed to hold his ground somewhat,
that said...
While everyone was still recovering from the impact, an invisible pressure suddenly fell over the area, sending chills down everyone’s spines.
"W-what is this feeling... what the hell’s going on?" Li Daniu muttered as he felt his whole body tremble.
He didn’t know why, but it felt like the gaze of some beast was locked directly onto him, and it made his skin crawl.
He tried to peer into the impact zone, but thanks to all the dust kicked up, only a vague silhouette could be seen.
"What in the world is that thing?" he said in horror, catching sight of the size of that silhouette.
He was almost certain it was a beast, but what kind of beast radiated that kind of pressure?
Could it really be above the second stage?
As absurd as the thought was, he didn’t dare dismiss it.
The exam area was supposed to be populated with beasts at the same level as the students. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
After all, the academy’s goal was to test them, not get them killed.
That’s what he’d believed up until now... but he was starting to have serious doubts.
The two girls, who had managed to stabilize themselves, also felt that pressure, and compared to the panther from before, this one was on a whole different level.
It was far more oppressive and terrifying.
Mu Qinglan suddenly remembered Zhu Rong and quickly looked around for him.
After all, the last thing she’d heard before the sudden impact was his shout.
’He said to run...’ she thought, not understanding why at first,
but now that she could sense the presence that had arrived, she could tell without a doubt it wasn’t something they could handle.
She wanted to run, but at the same time, she didn’t want to leave him behind.
She quickly scanned the area and soon spotted a figure running toward them.
’Could it be him?’
Just as that thought crossed her mind, the figure became clear, and what she saw was Li Daniu... being chased by a massive grey furred gorilla.
"That idiot is bringing it straight to us! Sister Lan, we need to run now!"
Lin Shuiyao’s voice snapped Mu Qinglan out of her thoughts.
She hesitated for a moment, but in the end, bit her lip, and without a second thought, took off with her friend.
’ Please, be safe ’ she thought, frustrated that she couldn’t even confirm whether their savior was alright.
She was someone who repaid kindness with kindness, but in this case, even she knew there was no other choice but to get out of there for now.
She too had felt the power of the beast that had arrived, and it was clear this thing was way beyond the second stage.
They’d already struggled against that panther, and it wasn’t even at the peak of the second stage.
What could they possibly do against a monster like this?
Seeing the two girls run off, Li Daniu shouted in frustration.
"Hey! Don’t leave me here! Help me!"
He shouted at the top of his lungs, but the girls didn’t even spare him a glance and kept running.
Seeing this, he could only curse out loud, then, with a hesitant, frustrated expression, pulled a yellow token from his pocket and without hesitation, poured his spiritual Qi into it.
"You’ll all pay for this," he growled under his breath as the token glowed red.
Activating the token was basically the same as forfeiting the exam.
Sure, depending on the situation you might still pass,
but given the instructor in charge this year, he didn’t have high hopes, which only made him angrier.
He swore to himself that once this exam was over, he’d get his revenge.
He wasn’t sure how long it would take for the instructors to arrive, but from what he’d heard, it usually didn’t take more than a minute.
Now, the only question was whether he could last that long.
’Shit... I need to slow it down.’
Still panicked, and hearing those heavy footsteps getting closer and closer, he quickly activated his earth element.
Soon, small stone pillars no taller than a meter rose up behind him.
He created several of them, placing them at odd angles in hopes of confusing the beast and throwing it off his trail.
But...
Boom!
He didn’t even have time to turn his head when he heard the loud sound of something getting smashed, and he immediately knew what was happening.
’sht...’
A chill ran down his spine, and without hesitation, he dove to the side.
A moment later, the last pillar he’d created, right behind him, was shattered by a massive hand.
He hit the ground hard and rolled, scrambling to his feet as fast as he could.
Looking up and seeing the smashed pillar, he realized that if he’d been even a second slower, he’d have been crushed flat.
’Damn it, why the hell is a beast like this in the exam? It’s at least a third stage!’
He screamed internally, terror mounting as he sensed the beast’s overwhelming strength.
He didn’t waste another second.
Spinning on his heel, he took off running.
He’d nearly reached the edge of the clearing, and he hoped that once inside the forest, he might be able to lose it.
But to his horror, as soon as he turned to flee toward the trees, his gaze landed on a massive, fur covered figure standing only a few steps away.
"Hell, when-" he didn’t even have time to be surprised before the beast swung its massive arm and struck him squarely, sending him flying brutally to the side.
Thud!
He slammed hard into the trunk of a nearby tree.
The impact was so strong, he coughed up a mouthful of blood on contact before collapsing to the ground.
’Sht... this is it...’ he thought as his vision started to fade.
He could hear the sound of heavy footsteps approaching, and could only curse his luck as everything faded to black.
A massive shadow loomed over his unconscious body as the huge, grey furred gorilla glared down at him.
It roared, pounding its chest a couple of times, It didn’t care about the state of its prey.
Without hesitation, it raised one of its massive fists, ready to smash the prey into pulp.
Just then, as it was about to bring its fist down, it suddenly sensed something and turned its head.
In the next instant, something slammed straight into its face and a heavy explosion rang out as the beast was sent flying backward.
"Damn, that hurts," a voice rang out, and a figure stood where the creature had just been.
It was none other than Zhu Rong.
