Limitless Evolution: I'm The New Dragon God?-Chapter 77: Noah And Aurora
Inside the Internal Meeting Chamber
The thick steel doors hissed open, revealing a large oval room lined with runic pillars, humming mana engines, and a towering central mirror showing a rotating 3D map of the continent. Red markers blinked across vast territories—each one a fallen city.
Hundreds of Evolvers had already gathered, some clad in shiny armor, others wrapped in torn combat gear soaked with dried blood.
Whispers filled the room, tension thick as the airship’s engines vibrated beneath their feet. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Ryuzen entered with John, Maki and Venus in tow. No one spoke to them, but eyes lingered — some curious, some wary. They were newcomers, after all, survivors from a ruined outpost, and not everyone trusted strays.
A woman with silver braids and a holographic badge stepped forward. Her voice carried clearly.
"Welcome, survivors. I am Commander Dama from Blood Legion of the Horizon Alliance. First, let me say—we grieve with you. The fall of Belfort was not just your loss, but a loss for all mankind."
She paused. A map of Belfort bloomed behind her, once vibrant with life, now smothered in a haze of darkness. Red pulse lines radiated outward showing the aftermath of the Beast Tide.
"But grieving must come later. We do not have that luxury now."
The screen shifted again, revealing a network of cities and outposts connected by glowing veins of energy routes.
"We’ve confirmed it," she continued. "The Hollows aren’t acting randomly. Something, or someone, is driving them to target human settlements with well executed plan. Titan-Class Hollows appearing this deep inland is no coincidence. There’s a superior hollow’s intelligence behind it."
Ryuzen narrowed his eyes. He had encountered one of the superior hollows who can talk and understand everything about humans. But he couldn’t reveal that.
Commander Dama gestured to the map again. A blinking green marker lit up.
"This is Fortress-09, also known as Haven’s Rest. That’s our next destination. A military stronghold built into the mountains. It has survived five major Hollow Waves. It will be your new home — at least for now."
The murmurs in the chamber turned louder.
She raised her hand. "Before you speak, know this: we won’t force you to stay. But we are inviting every capable Evolver to join the upcoming investigation and retaliation operation. We are forming the Second Blood Legion, an auxiliary unit tasked with pre-emptive strikes, intelligence gathering, and if necessary... elimination of corrupted Evolvers."
That last part made the room fall silent.
John’s eyes narrowed. "So they’re really acknowledging the Hollowfication risk in Evolvers now. That means no one is safe now."
Dama didn’t deny it.
"Yes. The corruption rate is rising. And those who turn... they’re worse than beasts."
A different officer stepped forward. His armor bore claw marks and burn damage.
"Selection trials begin tomorrow. If you believe you’re strong enough, step forward. We don’t need numbers. We need those ready to fight hell itself."
He glanced directly at Ryuzen, John and Maki As if daring them.
Silence lingered again, heavy and pressing.
Ryuzen was unsure.
But then came the voice he didn’t expect.
"I’ll join," Venus said, calm and cold. "I don’t want to run anymore."
Everyone turned to look at her.
Ryuzen also stared at her back, stunned. But she didn’t look back.
Seeing this, the fire inside him twisted.
"...Me too," he finally said.
John and Maki raised their hands as well, finding no other choice.
Most of the Evolvers chose to participate in the trial, with only a few choosing not to respond.
Commander Dama nodded, a brief flash of approval crossing her sharp features.
"Good," she said. "Then you’ll report to the deck no.3 at sunrise tomorrow. Those who pass will earn a place in the Second Blood Legion. Those who fail... will still be given protection, but you will not be allowed into the frontline operations under our jurisdiction."
The mirrors vanished, replaced by an hourglass.
"Until then, rest, eat, and prepare yourselves," she added. "You’ve already survived the impossible once. Now show us you deserve to stand at the edge of humanity’s final bastion."
With that, the meeting ended. The doors hissed open once more, releasing the heavy air and dozens of restless footsteps.
As they walked out, John muttered, "This isn’t just a trial. It’s a recruitment for the death march.."
Maki offered a faint smirk. "Better than dying helpless with regret, right?"
But Ryuzen didn’t respond.
He walked behind Venus, eyes fixed on her back.
She hadn’t even flinched when she volunteered. Her voice held no tremor, her body showed no hesitation.
The Venus he once knew—bright, full of warmth and awkwardness—was nowhere to be seen.
Now, she was a like a cold machine. And he understood the reason for that.
She wasn’t walking forward to survive.
She was marching to burn something down.
And he would follow. Whether to protect her or stop her, he hadn’t yet decided.
"Hey, wait up, Junior."
Just as Ryuzen exited the meeting chamber, a voice called out from behind.
He turned to see a blond-haired man with a cocky grin standing there. He was Noah, the Fireball King.
Standing beside him was the serene and graceful Aurora, known throughout the Alliance as the Divine Healer. She had radiant green hair shining like silk.
John and Maki’s jaws nearly dropped seeing the legendary duo up close.
"Aren’t you... the Fireball King Noah? And Divine Healer Aurora?" Maki echoed in disbelief.
They hadn’t witnessed Dama in action, but these two? Their recent world-shaking battle had been witnessed by them first hand.
Noah scratched the back of his head and sighed.
"Yeah, that’s us. But could you not use those titles? It’s kinda embarrassing."
"No way. I think it suits you perfectly, Fireball King," Maki said, eyes shimmering with admiration.
Noah, noticing the genuine sparkle in her eyes, felt his heart skip a beat.
"O-Oh... well, if it’s you calling me that, beautiful lady..."
He stepped forward, reaching out to take her hand with practiced elegance—
But John abruptly stepped between them, looking protective.
"Sorry, but she’s taken," he said flatly.
That wasn’t all.
Bam!
Aurora smacked the back of Noah’s head without mercy. A cartoonish bump instantly formed from the impact.
"Ow!" he groaned, clutching his scalp with both hands. "What was that for?!"
Aurora crossed her arms and glared at Noah.
"Flirting again, huh? Maybe next time, think before you act, oh great Fireball King."
Noah slouched, defeated.
"Why does everyone keep using that name today...?"
Apparently, there was something more than just ’friendship’ going on between those two.
Amidst their chatter, Ryu’s replied calmly:
"My name is Ryuzen. What is it that you want from me... Sir?"
