Limitless Summoner: Rise of the Soul God-Chapter 179: Slayers Association
Ethan's breath caught in his throat as he watched the final four colors linger around him, pulsing softly like waiting embers. Water and fire he'd expected. But lightning and wind? That was new. How could he have affinity to these two elements when he had never been able to cast those spells?
Ethan then suddenly thought of something. Was this because of his Convergence skill? He usually only activated the skill with the water slime. But a couple of days ago, he gave in to temptation and used the skill on Gale to really feel the power and strength of a magic beast of tier 2.
Could that have been it? he thought, eyes narrowing as the elemental flames slowly faded from the testing room.
Convergence wasn't just a mimicry—it was absorption. A temporary fusion that blurred the lines between master and summon. And if Gale's wind affinity was strong enough, if Ethan had synced with it deeply enough… maybe something had imprinted. Maybe something had lingered.
He needed to test this out. Ethan clenched his fists in excitement as he walked out of the mage class building. He had to wait until tonight for the skill reset, and he decided he might as well check out the Slayers Association before that.
The sun hung lazily above the spires of Blackstone Academy as Ethan made his way across the campus grounds, his thoughts whirling with theories.
If Convergence really was more than just a battle utility—if it could evolve his very essence—then he was sitting on a power no one else in the academy could even begin to comprehend.
A subtle, insidious kind of power. The kind that could rewrite what it meant to be a mage. Or a summoner. Or… whatever he was becoming.
The Slayers Association building was located just outside the central plaza. It looked more like a war lodge than an administrative hub.
He walked in, and within moments, a bored-looking receptionist in armor two sizes too big gestured him over.
"Name, rank, and class?" the man asked without looking up.
Ethan gave his academy token.
"A first year?" The receptionist raised a brow but did not really care more than that. He tapped away at his system interface, and seconds later, he handed Ethan the academy token back. "Registration is complete. You can now use the teleportation portal. Watch yourself. Don't get killed." With the customary warning, the man was back to his work, pretty much ignoring Ethan.
"Ummm… how do I earn slayer credits?" Ethan asked.
The receptionist sighed like someone who'd explained the same thing a hundred times that day. "Right. You submit the beasts you killed either here or at one of the other guilds in the border, and they will give you your credits. You get the credits token after the first kill." He didn't even look up.
Ethan nodded. "Thank you."
Ethan gave a quick thanks and headed toward the back, where the task boards glowed with various missions.
"Blight Bloom Containment – Tier 1 Hazard Zone"
Slayer Credits: 5 per bloom
Unstable mana flora spreading near Eastwood Grove. Extract and destroy Blight Blooms before they burst. High toxin levels. Alchemical gloves provided upon request. Beware of mana wasps nesting nearby.
"Hive Culling – Lesser Razor Ants Detected - Tier 1 Harazd zone"
Slayer Credits: 2 per antenna, bonus 10 credits for queen's core
Small swarm colony forming near South Ridge. Early-stage infestation. Slayers needed to prevent full hive maturity. Weak to fire and sonic magic. Eggs must be destroyed completely.
"Escort Mission – Mana Survey Team, Tier 2 Rift Edge"
Slayer Credits: 20 (fixed)
Escort and protect three junior researchers collecting leyline readings near a recently collapsed rift. Survey duration: 3 hours. Potential for high-level beast encounters. Risk: Medium-High.
"Corrupted Direwolf – Lone Alpha Spotted, Tier 2 Rift Edge"
Slayer Credits: 15 upon confirmed kill
Spotted on the border of the Western Watch. Marked with curse scars. Capable of speech mimicry and shadow blending. Approach with caution. Preferred response: strike team or strong solo combatant.
"Everything here is so much more complicated." Ethan frowned as he quickly scanned a whole bunch of missions. Clearly, this was going to be a lot riskier than simply grinding dungeons. A part of him wanted to wait a bit until he was stronger. Until his mana core was formed. Until his summons evolved even further and his skillset was ironclad.
But if it was just tier 1 zone, then he should be able to handle it? This was also a good opportunity for him to practise his mage skills. Ethan thought about it for a bit and then decided to go for it.
He took the teleportation portal for the tier 1 zone outpost X and appeared there a second later. The missions on the board talked about some mutated howlers in the region, which were nothing but bigger wolves.
Ethan already had plenty of experience with wolves and decided to go for these beasts.
He stepped off the teleportation portal and found himself in a clearing surrounded by thick, gnarled trees. Unlike the academy's polished buildings, the wilderness outpost was raw and rugged. The walls were made of hardened wood, and the guards carried real scars and were dressed up in hardcore gear. This wasn't a place for pretenders.
Ethan's gaze swept over the camp. Dozens of Slayers moved about with purpose—some gearing up, others returning from patrols with bloodstained armor and snarling trophies. The atmosphere was electric with tension, danger, and hunger. This was the front line.
A rune-inscribed monolith stood near the center, pulsing softly. Ethan wondered what it was. Perhaps something that could trigger mana barriers or alert authorities in case of an invasion. He continued walking as he looked around.
Soon, he reached the starting point of the wilderness. There wasn't really much going on in the outpost. It was simply one big teleportation circle. He pulled up a system map in front of him and simply followed the trail outlined in the mission. This should lead him to the area.
