Ling Tian Sword God-Chapter 765 - 763 Assassin_1
The Undying Old Demon's expression was shaken. He desperately channeled his True Qi. A surging crimson light coalesced around him, forming a Blood Shield that enveloped his entire body.
PFFT! PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!
Innumerable strands of sword qi rained down upon the Blood Shield. Like moths to a flame, they shattered upon impact. However, the Undying Old Demon's shield rapidly dimmed, clearly unable to withstand many more hits.
"Master! It can't hold on much longer!" Ling Zhen cried out, his face etched with anxiety.
The Undying Old Demon's face sank. He knew very well he couldn't hold out. He had underestimated Mei Fangzhi, never expecting the latter to have actually reached the Half-Saint Realm. This was far beyond my calculations.
However, Ling Zhen's panicked cry seemed to remind the Undying Old Demon of something. With a sudden snatch of his hand, he seized Ling Zhen by the throat.
"Mei Fangzhi, stop this instant, or I'll kill your son immediately!" the Undying Old Demon threatened, a smirk spreading across his face. He had almost forgotten he still held Ling Zhen, his trump card, in his hand.
"Master, you...!" Ling Zhen gasped, never expecting the Undying Old Demon to use him as a human shield. Has this old demon run out of tricks so quickly?
"Son? I, Mei Fangzhi, have no such son—one who would harm his fellow disciples, so ruthless and devoid of loyalty." Not a ripple of emotion showed in Mei Fangzhi's eyes, and his voice remained as cold as ice. "Undying Old Demon, if you dare to act, I'm afraid I'll have to thank you for cleaning up my own house."
"Hmph, even a vicious tiger doesn't eat its cubs. Even if he were a bastard, I don't believe you'd be indifferent to his life or death." The Undying Old Demon was momentarily stunned, then sneered. Mei Fangzhi almost fooled me. No one would disregard their own son's life, especially a champion of the Righteous Path like Mei Fangzhi. He would never commit such a depraved and inhumane act.
Mei Fangzhi didn't answer. Instead, he waved his hand. The Plum Blossom Sword Qi suspended high in the air suddenly erupted, hurtling towards the Undying Old Demon.
PSHHT! PSHHT!
The dense sword qi pierced through the Undying Old Demon's Blood Shield, striking both him and Ling Zhen like a torrential downpour.
AAARGH!
Ling Zhen was struck by more than a dozen strands of sword qi, riddling his body with gruesome, transparent holes. His eyes bulged, filled with utter disbelief, as he was killed on the spot.
The Undying Old Demon was sent flying backward, vomiting blood uncontrollably. His body was a mangled mess, pierced by dozens of sword strikes. If not for his profound cultivation, Mei Fangzhi would have slain him then and there.
He had never imagined that Mei Fangzhi would still strike so decisively, even with Ling Zhen as a hostage. Either this man is utterly heartless, or he is a true Machiavellian. The so-called bond between father and son means nothing to him. I truly underestimated this Mei Fangzhi. Someone capable of managing the vast Hanmei Villa and becoming a renowned figure in the Martial World wouldn't be so easily coerced.
"He actually killed him." At this moment, Ling Chen couldn't help but swallow hard. The Undying Old Demon never expected it, and neither did I. Mei Fangzhi acted with such decisiveness!
"Given the magnitude of Ling Zhen's crimes today, even if the Villa Owner hadn't killed him, he likely wouldn't have been able to live. Conspiring with outsiders to harm disciples of our own Villa, including the next Villa Owner—such an offense is enough to brand Ling Zhen as a major criminal of Hanmei Villa, his name to be reviled for eternity." Xuan Yu, however, seemed surprisingly unfazed, appearing to agree with Mei Fangzhi's actions. "Killing him now is, in a way, a kindness. Only a few of us know what happened today. As long as word doesn't spread, no one will ever know Ling Zhen was a traitor. Perhaps the Villa Owner wanted him to die with a clear name," she mused, a complex emotion flickering in her beautiful eyes as she finished speaking.
"'He reaped what he sowed.'" Ling Chen felt no pity for Ling Zhen's demise. While Ling Zhen's background might have been somewhat tragic, he had taken dozens of lives. No matter the circumstances, his crimes were heinous, and his death was not to be lamented.
"Undying Old Demon, today you will remain in my Hanmei Villa and become the Sword Spirit for this Treasure Sword of mine!" Mei Fangzhi declared, sweeping his Long Sword out. The four figures merged into one, and the Treasure Sword in his hand rapidly expanded, growing larger with the wind until it transformed into a Sky-shattering Giant Sword. It then descended, pressing down on the heavily wounded Undying Old Demon.
"Mei Fangzhi, you were ruthless today! But what goes around comes around! You, and that brat Ling Chen, will die by my hand sooner or later!" the Undying Old Demon roared. Staring at the colossal sword, now forty zhang long, a flicker of bitter unwillingness flashed in his eyes. He acted decisively. His flesh and blood vessels began to swell, stretching and tearing his skin as streams of fresh blood oozed out.
This blood evaporated, transforming into clouds of crimson mist. The mist then ignited, erupting into a layer of Flames. The Undying Old Demon seemed to become a man of fire, his aura surging dramatically.
HISSS! HISSS! HISSS!
Any sword qi that came within a meter of the Undying Old Demon was instantly incinerated by these blood-red Flames, unable to harm him in the slightest.
His body transforming into a crimson meteor, the Undying Old Demon spun around and shot off into the distance.
"Slash!" Mei Fangzhi's eyes blazed like torches. He had already locked onto the Undying Old Demon's escape path. With a sudden move, the Hanging Giant Sword in the sky plunged towards the fleeing demon.
The Giant Sword, imbued with Mei Fangzhi's will, possessed a tracking ability. The Undying Old Demon changed his trajectory multiple times but couldn't shake it. Finally, he had no choice but to whip around and attempt to block the fiercely descending sword with his bare hands.
However, the instant he caught the Giant Sword, he was blasted back hundreds of meters, leaving a crimson streak in the air.
"Shatter!" The Undying Old Demon roared. The sleeves on his arms disintegrated into dust, and his eyes glinted with an intense bloody light. A crimson ripple spread outwards. CRACK! A fissure appeared on the Giant Sword and spread with alarming speed. In the next moment, the massive blade abruptly shattered.
But even though he had managed to destroy the Giant Sword, the Undying Old Demon was now even more grievously injured. He didn't dare to linger for a second longer and immediately continued his escape, transforming into a cloud of blood mist that vanished into the distant sky.
"Pursue him!" Ling Chen exclaimed, startled. He was about to give chase when a figure suddenly appeared before him—Mei Fangzhi, waving a hand to stop him.
"Don't pursue him. In his Peak Period, this old demon was a Saint Level Strength expert. If we press him too hard and he resorts to mutual destruction, we likely won't gain anything," Mei Fangzhi said calmly.
Ling Chen nodded upon hearing this; Mei Fangzhi's words were reasonable. Yet, a sense of frustration gnawed at him. The Undying Old Demon had escaped death time and time again. If we can't eliminate this demon now, he will surely stage a comeback someday.
This time, Mei Fangzhi had arrived to save them. If not for his intervention, they would likely have perished at the hands of the Undying Old Demon today.
