Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 211: Rotten People, Rotten Affairs
Have to admit, Silas Sutton is truly clever.
Stella Grant turned her head to look at the scenery outside the car window without speaking; she actually had that plan.
Not hearing her response, Silas Sutton knew he guessed right. His thin lips twitched, spitting out two words, "Heartbreaker."
The return trip was scheduled for eight-thirty the next morning.
Returning home in the evening, Stella Grant tidied up briefly and went into the bathroom to shower.
Silas Sutton listened to the sound of running water from the bathroom while standing by the window, talking on the phone with Ben Lawson.
Ben Lawson heard Miles Sutton came to Brynnfield, mocking three parts, with seven parts disdain, "What’s he seeking? Death?"
Silas Sutton sneered, "Perhaps?"
Ben Lawson, "To be honest, Miles Sutton is the most brainless among your brothers. If he had one-tenth of his elder brother’s brains, he wouldn’t be this bad off now."
Silas Sutton scoffed, "The most brainless are often the hardest to deal with."
Ben Lawson agreed, "That’s true, after all, such people like to think they’re clever; you never know what kind of trouble they’ll cause."
After saying this, Ben Lawson asked, "What’s he doing in Brynnfield? Investigating the past?"
Silas Sutton spoke honestly, "Yeah, then kidnapped Kenneth Grant, forced my hand, asking to enter the finance department."
Ben Lawson was drinking watermelon juice on the other end of the phone. Hearing Silas Sutton’s words, he spat out the juice entirely.
After a while, Ben Lawson grabbed a tissue to wipe his mouth, coughed and said, "Seriously, is he crazy? Going to such lengths just to get into the finance department?"
Silas Sutton teased, "He thinks getting into the finance department means grasping the lifeline of Sutton Group."
Ben Lawson, "He might as well enter the project department, at least he could grasp your lifeline."
The project department has Stella Grant, who is Silas Sutton’s lifeblood.
Silas Sutton, "If his condition was to enter the project department, I’d directly tell him to tear up Kenneth Grant’s ticket."
Ben Lawson laughed aloud, "That’s ruthless." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
The two chatted a bit, then Ben Lawson’s voice turned serious, "I’ve investigated the matter you asked about before. The woman who had a car accident with your uncle back then was the Adler’s illegitimate child."
Silas Sutton frowned slightly at the words, "Go on."
Ben Lawson mocked, "For the rest, you’d better not let Stella Grant know. Mr. Adler, Stella Grant’s grandfather, in his forties, had a fluttering heart and fancied a second spring, having an affair with the family’s nanny. That woman was born of Mr. Adler and the nanny."
Silas Sutton’s eyes flickered with disdain, "Then what?"
Ben Lawson, "Then, The Adler Matriarch was a tough character too. Knowing the situation, she remained calm, quietly transferred all family assets to her name, offered the nanny two paths: the first, gave her a sum of money and left with the child; the second, allowed her relationship with Mr. Adler but with the condition that Mr. Adler had to leave empty-handed."
Silas Sutton anticipated the ending, "The nanny chose the first option."
Ben Lawson chuckled, "Yes."
In the world of adults, nothing is absolute; it’s all about weighing pros and cons.
If the pros outweigh the cons, they choose the pros.
If the cons outweigh the pros, they avoid the cons.
After finishing, Silas Sutton asked sternly, "Then why did that woman return to the Adler family later?"
He had seen photos of the woman taken in the old courtyard of the Adler family.
Ben Lawson said, "A more dramatic scene happened. The woman’s mother finally committed suicide in the old courtyard of the Adler family."
Silas Sutton squinted, "Hmm?"
Ben Lawson said, "As for the specifics, no one knows the truth. I gathered from the old neighbors of the Adler family, saying the nanny suddenly showed up with the child one day, troubled for two full days and nights, then jumped into a well in the old courtyard."
Silas Sutton’s curiosity reached its peak.
Jumped into a well?
Silas Sutton’s lips twitched, ready to ask something more when the bathroom door opened, and Stella Grant walked out.
Stella Grant was covered in steam, wearing a black camisole nightdress.
Though a conventional style, due to Stella Grant’s extremely fair skin, it had a uniquely fatal allure.
Silas Sutton didn’t want Stella Grant to know the Adler’s messy affairs, his Adam’s apple moved, "Hanging up."
Ben Lawson was interrupted halfway, suspiciously asked, "Why?"
Silas Sutton, "One passionate night is worth a thousand gold."
Ben Lawson was taken aback, sarcastically replied, "Send my regards to your ancestors."
After hanging up with Ben Lawson, Silas Sutton stepped towards Stella Grant.
The two met each other’s gaze, one looking down, the other up, as the atmosphere of ambiguity flowed around them.
After a while, Stella Grant was the first to lose and diverted her gaze, asking, "Do you want to take a shower?"
Silas Sutton chuckled low, leaning down intentionally to meet her gaze, playing and saying, "Do you know what it means when a woman urges a man to shower late at night?"
