Little Miss Fortune: I Will Bring Prosperity to My Tang Family!-Chapter 82: The Beautiful Aunt is Pregnant with Twins
Chapter 76
The Beautiful Aunt is Pregnant with Twins
The next morning, a round little figure moved around cheerfully, singing as she watered the thriving vegetables in the garden. The manure from the cows she was raising helped a lot.
"Why are you so happy this morning, hmm?" Tianrong asked his daughter as he stepped out. He was taking a day off from the restaurant and had asked Wu Zhong’s younger brother, now promoted to his assistant, to handle the necessary ingredients for the restaurant.
"I’m happy every day, Father," she replied, her round face turning towards him.
"Is that so?" Tianrong watched his daughter move around the garden. After noticing she’d been watering for a long time, he urged her to go inside and took over the watering himself.
"Grandmaaa, I want clear soup with minced pork and cabbage, please," the little girl said, hugging Zhang Ruo, who was busy cooking.
"Alright, I’ll make it for you."
"With glass noodles too, please."
"Of course, little piggy."
Xiaolin giggled and left the kitchen, heading to the living room where she saw Tianchen lying down next to the dining table.
"Uncle, why are you lying here?" she asked, plopping down beside him.
"I don’t feel well," Tianchen replied hoarsely.
Hearing this, Xiaolin touched his cheeks with both hands, feeling that his body was warmer than usual.
"You’re sick. Please rest in your room. I will bring a cloth to wipe you down," she said, getting up and running off to fetch a basin of water and a clean cloth. As she returned and saw him lie there breathing through his mouth, she felt bad.
Her little fingers grabbed the wet cloth and roughly twisted it, climbing onto the bed and began wiping his face, neck, and arms before placing the cloth on his forehead and running out of the room again.
"Father! Uncle is sick!" Xiaolinshouted as she dashed out of the house, leaving Tianrong barely able to call after her. He washed his hands and went inside to check on his brother.
Meanwhile, Xiaolin was running with her belly jiggling towards Liu’s house, knocking on the door and calling out loudly.
"Uncle! Uncle Hao!"
"What is it, Xiaolin? Why are you here so early? And are you alone?" Liu Hao opened the door to see the little child standing there alone.
"Uncle is sick. I came to tell you that today it looks like you and Uncle Ye will have to run the shop by yourselves. Also, we should hire two more people, sir, so that you don’t have to be at the shop every day."
"That’s fine. How is you’re A’Chen’s condition anyway?" Liu Hao agreed with hiring more people since it was almost winter and he wanted to prepare supplies.
"I think it’s just a flu. He doesn’t get sick often. I think it will take a few days for him to recover."
"Thank you for letting me know. Let’s go, I’ll take you home, and I can check on A’Chen too."
Liu Hao shouted to his grandmother, who was cooking in the kitchen. Then, he knelt down for Xiaolin to climb on his back, and they walked together back to the Tang house.
When they arrived home, the chubby child ran into her uncle’s room. Seeing the elderly doctor examining him, she quietly watched. The doctor gave a few more instructions, accepted his payment, and left.
"You haven’t been sick in years, have you, A’Chen?" Liu Hao addressed his younger cousin.
"About two years, I think," Tianrong answered instead, seeing that his younger brother couldn’t respond due to a sore throat.
"I will make porridge for Uncle." Xiaolin ran out of the room.
"Grandmother, Uncle is sick."
"I know, I’m making porridge," Zhang Ruo replied to her granddaughter.
After a delicious breakfast, Tianrong took care of his younger brother while Xiaolin loaded a basket with some oranges and a few dried lotus flowers to take to the respected elders.
Xiaolin first delivered them to Zheng Luan and the pharmacy before heading to the governor’s mansion. The guards at the gate let her in without issue. Since that incident, Xiaolin hadn’t seen the soldier who spoke rudely to her; he must have been reassigned.
"Beautiful Auntie," Xiaolin greeted Lian Hua, who was waddling out with her big belly to meet the little guest.
"Little Xiaolin, how many months has it been since I last saw you?" Lian Hua sat down on a long chair and beckoned the child to sit with her. Xiaolin obediently joined her. Lian Hua missed the chubby little girl but, fearing that this pregnancy would be as fragile as the last, had to be extra careful.
"Master Hui, how are you feeling?"
"I am well. How many months along are you, Miss? Why is your belly so large?" Hui Song asked, having never seen a woman with such a large pregnant belly before. She even needed a servant’s assistance to walk.
Lian Hua smiled at this and looked at the chubby little girl who was listening intently. She gently patted the child’s head.
"This time, I’m carrying twins."
"Wow!" The chubby girl exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise. Lian Hua laughed at her reaction.
"Oh! Congratulations!" Hui Song was equally excited. In all his years, he had never met anyone pregnant with twins, though he had seen twin children when guests stayed at his home.
"Thank you."
"Auntie, you need to walk every morning. If your body is strong, it’ll be easier to give birth," the chubby girl said excitedly, her small hand touching the large belly with the two little ones moving inside.
"I’m seven months pregnant, how can I exercise?"
"I didn’t mean you should exert yourself, Auntie. Just a short walk in front of the house in the morning for about fifteen minutes"
"I see," Lian Hua nodded in understanding.
"Oh, by the way, I brought you some oranges and dried lotus pollen."
Lian Hua looked at the oranges in the woven bamboo basket with interest, while Xiaolin untied the bamboo strips and took out a large orange to peel.
"What is this woven bamboo called, Hui Song? It looks unusual but very beautiful."
"It’s called a ’chalom.’ This little one suggested I make it," Hui Song said, watching the chubby girl peeling the orange with concentration.
"Xiaolin is really talented for someone so young."
"Hehe, I’m just that good. Here, Auntie, I peeled this for you," the chubby hands offered the large orange to the beautiful aunt.
"Thank you, dear." Lian Hua smiled widely, accepting the orange and eating a piece, sharing some with the chubby girl too.
"Um, Miss, may I leave my granddaughter here for two hours? I need to visit a friend, and the place is not quite suitable for a child."
Xiaolin quickly turned to look at her grandfather, planning to sit and eat some grilled squid while waiting for him to finish drinking. But now he was planning to leave her here.
"Of course. You can pick up Xiaolin when you’re done with your business, or I can have someone from my household take her home," Lian Hua replied, understanding that men often needed their social gatherings, which invariably included alcohol. Her own husband would sometimes come back smelling of it, but at least he never stayed out overnight like some other men.
"Would it be alright if Miss Hui’s people took you home, Xiaolin, in case I’m late?" Hui Song asked his granddaughter, who sat with her arms crossed and head held high.
"Whatever you think is best, Grandpa," but if you got your head bumped by grandma, I won’t help hehe. The chubby girl thought to herself.
"Then I’ll have someone take Xiaolin home. Please feel free to go about your business, Master Hui."
"Thank you very much, Miss. I’ll take my leave now. Goodbye, Xiaolin."
"Hmph," the chubby girl snorted, ignoring her grandfather and peeling a new orange.
Lian Hua couldn’t help but laugh at the child’s behavior. Hui Song had already left, and Xiaolin began chattering about how cute her little brother was.
"Xiaoyu is very cute," she said, her cheeks puffing out as she chewed on a snack.
"I’d love to visit Xiaolin’s house and see if Xiaoyu is as cute as you say," Lian Hua replied.
"Would you like to come to my house, Auntie? Xiaoyu is really cute. You’ll love him."
"In that case, could you send word to my husband that I’ll be visiting the Tang house?" Lian Hua instructed her close maid, who was sitting nearby.
"Yes, Miss."
The aunt and niece then climbed into a large, luxurious carriage. Xiaolin held onto a large bag of snacks, looking out the window. She asked her aunt to stop the carriage when they reached her family’s restaurant.
The chubby girl got out of the carriage and walked into the seafood restaurant. She ordered several dishes for the head cook to pack up for her aunt. Many of the employees greeted the little owner, whom they hadn’t seen in a while, with fondness.
"We’ll have giant prawns tomorrow. Will you come by, Xiaolin?" Wu Zhe asked the chubby girl.
"If nothing comes up, I’ll come by. Uncle, did you catch a lot?"
"I don’t know yet. We’ll have to wait and see tomorrow,"
Xiaolin nodded. Once her food was ready, the employees brought it to the large carriage, attracting the attention of many customers who noticed it was the carriage from the governor’s household. Xiaolin, not wanting any issues with the accounting, paid for the food herself before leaving.
The large carriage traveled through wide fields for a while before reaching Shenlin village. The villagers looked on with interest at the impressive carriage, but seeing it heading towards the back of the village, they weren’t surprised.
Xiaolin got off the carriage with her beautiful aunt, who was helped down by the servants. They also carried baskets of food. The chubby little hostess invited her guest inside and saw her mother sitting in the main hall, taking care of her younger brother.
Miss," Hui Ning greeted the pregnant guest. She widened her eyes upon seeing that Lian Hua’s belly was even larger than hers. Lian Hua laughed softly at the similar reactions of the mother and daughter.
"It’s twins,"
"Oh! Twins! Congratulations, Miss," Hui Ning quickly placed two cushions on top of each other for the pregnant woman to sit. Lian Hua sat down and watched the cheerful little boy moving his arms and legs on the bed.
Xiaolin had gone to the back and returned with a wooden basin filled with water and a cloth for wiping hands. Hui Ning laughed softly, knowing that her little daughter was worried about her baby brother being uncomfortable if touched by unclean hands.
"Please wash your hands first, Auntie."
"Thank you, dear," Lian Hua complied and dried her hands.
"His name is Tang Tianyu. His sister chose the name."
"It’s a good name. Xiaolin, you must love your brother very much." Lian Hua’s slender hand reached out to hold the baby’s small hand. Hearing an unfamiliar voice, Tianyu wiggled his arms and legs.
"Aeh Aeh!"
"What a cheerful little one. Auntie Lian Hua is here to visit you, Tianyu." Lian Hua talked to the chubby little baby as her slender fingers took out a gold ankle bracelet to put on him.
“Miss," Hui Ning said softly when she saw this.
"Consider it a gift for my nephew. I haven’t visited earlier because I was worried this pregnancy might not be strong."
"Thank you very much, Miss."
After that, the two women sat and talked about caring for infants. Hui Ning recommended that guests should wash their hands thoroughly before touching the baby. Since hands touch many things, they could cause the baby discomfort or rashes if not clean.
Meanwhile, Xiaolin went to check on the factory. The children had collected a large amount of wild green onions in the morning. Her pickled wild green onions were very popular because they were cheap and had a unique delicious taste, attracting many customers.
"I want more wild green onions. Keep collecting them all day if you can. Here, take these and share them," Xiaolin said, handing out a small basket of oranges she had divided among the children.
"Thank you! We’ll go collect more wild green onions."
"Uh huh. Be careful and don’t go too deep into the forest."
"Got it."
After giving instructions, Xiaolin washed her hands and feet and went to see her little brother. The two women were still talking about childcare. Xiaolin sat beside her brother and called to him in a sweet, gentle voice. Tianyu, hearing his sister’s voice, moved his arms and legs excitedly.
"Hehe, does little Xiaoyu miss his sister?"
"Aeh!"
"He always reacts this way when he hears his sister," Hui Ning told Lian Hua, who was watching the little boy.
"Xiaoyu likes playing with his sister. That’s good. In about three months, my children will be born. Xiaoyu will have playmates."
"Aunt Mi Hua is also due soon. She should give birth in a few days, right, Mother?"
"Yes, that’s right. Xiaoyu will have many friends to play with."
As they were talking and playing with the baby, Xiaolin heard someone calling from the front of the house and went to see. She saw a large carriage parked behind Lian Hua’s carriage. Seeing who got out, she smiled broadly.
"Uncle Zhou! Did you come with Auntie?" The chubby girl greeted brightly and went to open the gate for the guest.
"And who told you to lure my wife out of the house?" Zhou Ming teased, making Xiaolin pout. He laughed heartily at having successfully teased his chubby niece.
"Just by asking, Auntie was more than willing to come to my house," Xiaolin replied.
"Is that so? It seems your uncle has lost to you, Xiaolin."
"Hehe," the chubby girl laughed with delight. Then she noticed two handsome young boys standing behind her tall uncle. They were dressed simply but in fine, colorful clothes. Seeing Xiaolin’s curiosity, Zhou Ming spoke up.
"These are my sons. The academy has given them a month-long break. The eldest, Zhou Ming Lu, is thirteen, and the younger, Zhou Ming Wang, is eleven. And this little one is Tang Xiaolin, who is six years old," Zhou Ming introduced his sons to the little hostess.
"Greetings, young masters. Please come inside. Auntie is playing with my little brother," the chubby girl cheerfully invited the guests inside.
The two young boys watched the round-faced, chubby girl with interest. They had long wished for a younger sister, but their mother had miscarried before, leaving them without hope for many years. Now, on their extended break at home, their mother mentioned meeting a charming little girl she wanted to adopt. It must be this little Tang Xiaolin.
"Big brother, I want to pinch her cheeks," Zhou Ming Wang whispered to his older brother, his eyes fixed on the chubby girl leading them to the door.
"No, I called dibs."
