Little Tyrant Doesn’t Want to Meet with a Bad End-Chapter 573.2: Omen (2)
Chapter 573.2: Omen (2)
Three days later, Roel sat in a comfortable chair in the Moonsoul Tower’s sky garden, admiring the blooming flowers. Adola, whom he hadn’t encountered for a long while, stood next to him.
After half a month of treatment, his condition had finally improved a little. He spent half a day yesterday persuading the Mother Goddess with a mixture of soft and hard tactics before She finally gave him permission to freely move around. He felt like a child who had finally achieved a hard-earned victory against his parents.
That being said, the scope of ‘freely move around’ was limited to the highest level of the Moonsoul Tower so that the Mother Goddess could rush to him right away should any accident occur. On top of that, he also had to accompany the Mother Goddess for a nap every afternoon.
Just as Roel had guessed, the reason the Mother Goddess slept beside him in such thin clothing was to resonate their souls and stabilize Roel’s soul, which was still suffering from rejection symptoms. According to Adola, She had been doing this every day while he was unconscious.
“The Mother Goddess hardly left Her quarters at all in the past half a month. She likely spent the entire time looking after you.”
“That has been the case over the past half a month?”
“Yes. Based on what I know, the Mother Goddess hasn’t attended any military or regular meetings during this period of time.”
“…”
How could Roel not be moved by the meticulous care the Mother Goddess had shown him over the past half a month? The least he could do was to accommodate whatever requests She had. Even so, it was a huge relief to him to see the Mother Goddess slowly loosening Her restrictions as his condition improved.
She was even holding a banquet for him tonight!
The last time Roel had attended the Mother Goddess’ banquet, he spent the entire time engaging in a war of saliva against Micher. Thinking back on it, their argument had been meaningless, given how the Mother Goddess had already seen through everything.
However, that was also the trigger that made him realize how much the Mother Goddess cared about him, pushing him to rethink his prejudice toward Her. 𝗯𝗲𝐝𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝗹.𝐨𝗿𝗴
In a way, that banquet was the greatest contributor behind the reconciliation between Roel and the Mother Goddess. For that reason, Roel was looking forward to the second banquet.
Besides, the purpose of this banquet was very different from the last.
The previous banquet was a scheme hatched by the High Elves to drag Roel to his doom, but the upcoming banquet served to celebrate Roel as the valiant hero who defeated the Savior at Dragon’s Gorge. It was unlikely that anyone would make things difficult for the star of the show.
Roel subconsciously glanced at the sun with a grim expression, but he didn’t look too nervous. He could sense that the sun was somehow different from before. It was no longer under the Savior’s jurisdiction but a natural phenomenon of the world.
Adola’s report further verified that.
Following their crushing defeat at Dragon’s Gorge, the Savior’s faction was forced to switch to a full-out defensive stance. The Mother Goddess’ faction launched a major attack on them a few days ago with the assistance of the God’s Envoys, and they achieved a decent result.
The God’s Envoys were nearly wiped out in the battle with the Savior, but the Mother Goddess was able to regenerate them with Her supreme powers. However, She entrusted the power to manage them to the High Elves instead.
The High Elves had the power to control the God’s Envoys, but they weren’t able to effectively communicate with them. Due to this, they couldn’t draw out the powers of the God’s Envoys as effectively as Roel, who possessed the Crown Origin Attribute and the Crown’s Stones.
Nevertheless, they were more than enough to deal with the Savior’s faction, who immediately flew into disarray as soon as they saw the God’s Envoys. The overwhelming lethality displayed by the God’s Envoys in Dragon’s Gorge had simply traumatized them too deeply.
Roel’s mood improved after hearing Adola share some of the recent affairs. It was a relief to learn that everything was in order, as it meant that he could focus on recuperating from his injuries without worrying about anything.
As the sun began to set, the maids invited Roel back into the room to prepare for the banquet.
…
As evening came, the race leaders and major officials of the Mother Goddess’ faction gathered in the same reception room and patiently waited for nightfall to enter the banquet hall. The moment the sky darkened, the Mother Goddess and Roel emerged together with the moon.
This was the first time Roel had appeared in public view in half a month’s time.
He had mostly recovered by now. His soul was still ailing, but his physical condition was faring better than ever. Be it the Philosopher’s Stone or the God’s Spine, these precious materials had greatly enhanced his constitution, such that he could easily last to the end of the banquet.
Much to everyone’s surprise, tonight’s banquet was a seated banquet.
The Mother Goddess would usually favor standing banquets for such celebrations, but She decided to hold a seated banquet instead out of fear that a mishap would happen to Roel while he was still in a weakened state. She also stationed Roel in the seat to Her right, where She could easily reach out to him.
The crowd was not blind to the Mother Goddess’ intention, but there was not a single person who raised an objection.
Once again, Roel found himself seated opposite his ‘old nemesis’, Micher.
Micher was visibly more reticent than during the previous banquet. His gaze was no longer filled with animosity whenever he looked at Roel. He even took the initiative to speak to Roel.
“Kingmaker, it looks like you have recovered well.”
“Yes, it’s all thanks to the Mother Goddess and the precious artifacts Lord Micher and the other race leaders have generously offered that I was able to return from the grave. I’d like to express my earnest gratitude to you.”
“Not at all. I have only done what I should… I should apologize to you,” Micher said with a sigh. “I had vehemently objected to you joining the Mother Goddess’ faction, but I can see now that my mind was stuck in the rut. You have most definitely proven that you hadn’t deceived us. It’s only right that I apologize to you for my prejudice.”
“…I understand, and I accept your apology.”
Micher hadn’t done anything wrong here. He was justified to have suspected the original Kingmaker, considering the huge load of evidence he had collected that proved their betrayal. Taking a step back, Roel and the Mother Goddess would have also likely drifted apart if not for Micher’s antagonism during the previous banquet.
Having thought things through, Roel couldn’t bring himself to hate Micher.
Micher was moved to see that Roel didn’t harbor a grudge against him over past affairs. The Mother Goddess was also satisfied with their reconciliation. The atmosphere in the banquet grew even more bustling.
It was under such a harmonious atmosphere that the banquet concluded. The race leaders and major officials took their leave one after another, but Roel’s mission wasn’t completed yet.
“Is your body still faring fine?”
“Mm, I’m feeling fine.”
“Accompany me for a walk, all right?”
“Yes, Mother.”
Somehow, the Mother Goddess seemed to be in a good mood. Roel accepted the offer after a brief moment of thought.
With a faint pulsation of moonlight, the two of them vanished from the banquet hall and reappeared in the sky garden, where they were both surrounded by a beautiful sea of flowers.
The sky garden boasted the best scenery in the Moonsoul Tower, which was why Roel often strolled in the sky garden in his idle time. That being said, this was the first time he was touring this place in the middle of the night with the Mother Goddess.
“Mother, You seem to be in a good mood today. Were You looking forward to admiring the flowers here?” Roel asked.
“You can say so, but I don’t have much interest in these flowers. I am too familiar with every nook and cranny of this tower,” the Mother Goddess replied with a bitter smile.
