Little Tyrant Doesn’t Want to Meet with a Bad End-Chapter 606.1: Alicia (1)
Chapter 606.1: Alicia (1)
Divination spells, strictly speaking, could not be classified as spells.
Spells could be broadly defined as phenomena that are triggered in the presence of sufficient mana, though there were usually more conditions to fulfill than that. However, divination spells didn’t fall under this category.
Even if there was sufficient mana and the ritual went well, there was no guarantee that a divination spell would work. Conversely, there were times when divination spells triggered without one doing anything at all.
In a way, divination spells were similar to the intuition of high transcendents, just that the former could predict events further into the future, and the events did not have to be directly related to themselves.
The stronger and more talented an individual was in the field of divination, the greater their ability to foretell the future. In this regard, there was no one in the world who could outdo the two supreme beings in the ancient era.
There were also other factors that could undermine the accuracy of the prophecy, such as the time frame, but even so, it should be safe to assume that any prophecies made by the Savior and the Mother Goddess were no less accurate than the one made by the Tripartite Alliance.
That was also why the Savior had Beastman Sovereign Banjol bury the Egg of the Beast God here in advance.
But if the Savior was capable of pulling this off, there was no reason the Mother Goddess couldn’t do the same and counterattack… and that was exactly what was happening right now.
Pandemonium ravaged the battlefield.
The abrupt shift from day to night defied common sense, and it compelled the soldiers on the battlefield to halt what they were doing to observe the situation. Shocked exclamations could be heard throughout the desert.
Roel could empathize with them; that was how he had reacted when he first witnessed this phenomenon in the Witness State. But if it were just this much, it wouldn’t have sent the elites of humankind into such a fluster. What truly shook their hearts was the battle in the sky.
Above the desert, a white fog rapidly charged at the Egg of the Beast God to devour its energy. Faced with Shrouding Fog’s assault, the Egg of the Beast God, which was created specifically to deal with it, furiously roared and launched its counterattack.
“Grar!”
A deluge of black sludge gushed out from the Egg of the Beast God. It transformed into a flock of ten thousand aerial monsters that unhesitatingly charged at Shrouding Fog.
Roel was initially confused by this suicidal maneuver, but what happened next startled him.
The aerial monsters conjured by the Egg of the Beast God didn’t vanish right away upon coming into contact with Shrouding Fog. Instead, they relentlessly dished out attacks on the white fog to dissipate it.
Shrouding Fog’s devouring ability failed to work on the aerial monsters.
Roel had known that the Egg of the Beast God boasted some degree of immunity against the Six Calamities, but he didn’t think that even Shrouding Fog, despite having matured the most, would have its ability rendered ineffective just like that.
Even so, Shrouding Fog wasn’t completely helpless. As a sentient calamity that had wreaked havoc throughout the ages, it launched its counterattack in an unexpected manner.
The billowing white fog in the sky emanated a brilliant light, which had Roel widening his eyes. He sensed a familiar aura from it—it was an aura similar to that of his Silver Devourer, the aura of a dimension opening up.
Before his shocked eyes, countless figures emerged from the billowing white fog. They were similar to the bone dragons Artasia had pulled out from Shrouding Fog’s dimension, just that they were more varied in shape and size.
Massive bone dragons, ordinary wingmen, carcasses of demonic beasts, and gigantic statues—the beings that Shrouding Fog had devoured across the ages had been turned into an undead army that attacked the aerial monsters in the sky.
Even the two bone dragons under Artasia’s control broke away and rushed into the sky to protect Shrouding Fog.
A chaotic battle broke out between the two factions in the sky.
The mutated monsters spawned by the Egg of the Beast God spewed out their black sludge, corroding the undead carcasses. The undead army retaliated with their unique abilities: the bone dragons spewed devastating breaths; the wingmen sapped mana from the surroundings; the gargoyles tore the mutated monsters apart.
Black sludge and melting white bones rained ceaselessly from the sky, but the intensity of the battle remained unabated as the howling Egg of the Beast God and Shrouding Fog continued to churn out new soldiers to continue the fight.
This situation baffled the crowd.
The appearance of the culprit behind the disappearance of Tark Stronghold, Shrouding Fog, stirred panic among the human soldiers, but, fortunately, the soldiers quickly calmed down when they saw the intense battle between it and the Egg of the Beast God.
At the same time, possibly because the Egg of the Beast God was focused on the aerial battle against Shrouding Fog, the movements of the mutated deviants on the ground turned sluggish. The human soldiers capitalized on this opportunity to launch their counterattack.
“Quick! We need to make use of this opportunity to get rid of them!” the military commanders shouted.
“Close up the formation! Prepare to retreat!” Charlotte ordered.
The war horns signaling retreat sounded. The human soldiers subdued the mutated deviants lurking in their midst while pulling their formation back.
Similarly, the deviant army had also begun to retreat.
Both the Egg of the Beast God and Shrouding Fog were threats and enemies to humankind, which was why Lilian ordered her circle of magicians to change the target of their army spell from the sky to the boundary between the human soldiers and the mutated deviants, so as to buy time for the united army to make their retreat. 𝚋𝚎𝚍𝚗𝚘𝚟el.c𝚘𝚖
Meanwhile, the knights of the Ancient Austine Empire continued tearing into the enemy’s ranks.
In the sky, Nora decimated the aerial monsters with her holy light while trying her best to advance to where Roel was. Similarly, Wilhelmina, who had her hands free after the two-headed deviant made its escape, also began making her way toward Roel.
Nora, Lilian, and the others were making a desperate attempt to rescue Roel in their own ways. Meanwhile, Roel watched the battlefield with a complicated look in his eyes.
…
Roel stared at the sky above with glimmering golden eyes. Around him was the black sludge left in the wake of the mutated deviants’ death.
The Egg of the Beast God was a frightening creation, so much so that Roel thought that it was an even more troublesome adversary than the Deviant Sovereign. The monsters it created were not too powerful, but Roel was in a terrible state after his battle with Banjol.
Just a single attack from the summoned Witch Queen had already exhausted him, but even so, he made no attempt to escape.
He looked at the two monsters fighting under the silver moon with a gaze flickering with doubt.
Shrouding Fog’s appearance on the battlefield came as a surprise to the human soldiers, but it was well within Roel’s expectations. The Egg of the Beast God was a monster nurtured to deal with the Six Calamities; Shrouding Fog would have never turned a blind eye to its existence.
Shrouding Fog’s appearance was inevitable from the very start.
What surprised Roel was how grand its arrival was—even day and night were inverted! What was even more baffling was the precise timing of its arrival.
Did it specifically choose this timing to interfere? Or was it just a coincidence? Roel thought with an uneasy heart.
