Lord of Prayer-Chapter 134 - 109: Book of My Thoughts (2)
For example, after containing it, one of the wielder’s organs would turn green. It could be their eyeballs, their skin, or their hair. Anna was lucky; only her hair turned green. The previous owner of the Book of My Thoughts had their skin turn green and was said to no longer need to eat, surviving on photosynthesis alone.
Another example was that to successfully activate the Forbidden Object, one had to shout the prefix, "I reckon..."
Being classified as an A-Level Forbidden Object showed how powerful the Book of My Thoughts was. It was practically a case of wishes coming true, where Words Become Law. Before long, Anna could use it to advance to a Crowned King. The only downside was the incredibly cringey activation phrase.
"I reckon you all should get a full enhancement!"
"I reckon you all should have super-strong contamination resistance!"
"I reckon all your attribute resistances should be doubled!"
"I reckon..."
Amidst the young woman’s sharp cries, streams of light flew toward everyone, instantly covering them in a deluxe set of Buffs: health regeneration, mana regeneration, increased luck, increased Spiritual Power, increased Essence Capacity, increased physical fitness, increased resistance to all Attributes... she was basically a super support!
At the same time, Great Sage Chen Bojun descended from the sky. He made a grasping motion toward the group, and countless complex and profound Alchemy Matrices automatically formed, covering their bodies.
"You can activate the anti-contamination Matrix yourselves. Based on the level of contamination, the Matrix’s maximum effective time is five minutes, which is enough for you to complete the beheading mission. If you activate the Matrix before then, do not enter the source of the contamination. You will be assimilated by the Curse, and not even a Great Sage or a Crowned King could save you," the Great Sage warned.
Titan put on his fully-enclosed helmet and gave the order:
"Move out!"
·
The main formation for the summoning ritual was on the athletic field of Jinzhu University. It would be extremely difficult for the beheading squad to sneak in, as the entire area was swarming with Abyssal Creatures.
If they managed to enter Jinzhu University, they would still have to face a source of the curse so dense it formed a sea. God knows what that thing was. According to the Great Sage’s analysis, tens of thousands of Undead existed within that sea of curse. As long as the source wasn’t destroyed, the Curse would constantly regenerate, spread, and grow stronger by devouring all life around it.
Fortunately, all of this was happening in the Mirror World. If it were the real World, once the Curse Source erupted and devoured a large number of civilians, its rate of spread would be several times faster, instantly turning into an absolute catastrophe.
The team moved through the ruins, steadily approaching Jinzhu University and searching for an entry point.
Under the saturation bombing of Alchemy Missiles, countless Abyssal Creatures were blown to smithereens every second. But behind them was the Gate of Hell. Even if an area was temporarily cleared, it would be quickly refilled. The strike team just couldn’t find a suitable path.
Before long, the group took cover in a shopping mall near Jinzhu University. Titan requested three bombing runs on the area ahead, which basically scoured the earth three times over, but they still couldn’t find an opportunity to move.
In the sky, the battle between the Crowned Kings had reached a fever pitch. The Winter King made his move, using his Extreme Cold Realm to confine them to a single area so the battle’s shockwaves wouldn’t cause any friendly fire.
Meanwhile, the Godslaying Weapon was still locked in combat with the Chaos Fire Demon’s Clone, fighting from the sky to the ground and back again, leaving only countless thunderous explosions in their wake. No clear winner could be determined any time soon.
As for the King of Chaos... It had gone silent after Its Divine Descent. The Star Association likely had more specific countermeasures in place, but that was not something pawns like them were privy to.
"The Purgatory Fire Demon has three Clones in total. One is in Chaos Purgatory, one is fighting the Godslaying Weapon, and the last one is likely guarding the High Priest. If we don’t draw it away, the beheading mission will be very difficult to succeed," Titan said in a low voice.
The reason the Purgatory Fire Demon’s Clone didn’t just take "that thing" and leave was because it knew full well that the moment it acted, it would face obstruction from the Star Association or Fallen Paradise. So, it was better to protect the High Priest, stabilize the opening of the Gate of Hell, and wait for more reinforcements to arrive. This was, at the same time, a way to protect the thing itself.
"Leave it to me."
Father Daun gazed at the Godslaying Weapon and the Purgatory Demon Fire locked in a fierce battle in the sky. "Its Clone only has forty percent of the main body’s Power. Leave it to me."
This was not arrogance, but confidence—absolute confidence in his own strength.
Zhou Chen felt that this old Priest was just as unfathomable as he looked. ’Even if the Clone only has forty percent of the main body’s Power, it’s still a Tier Five. That’s an entire Tier higher than a Tier Four. This isn’t a situation where a lower-Tier person can just jump ranks and score a kill.’
’The difference between Tier Four and Tier Five is anything but small.’
’From what I understand, Crowned Kings are called Crowned Kings because they have all mastered a certain kind of supreme Power—"Authority."’
’For example, the King of Mirrors has mastered the Authority of the Mirror, the Winter King has mastered the Authority of Winter, the Fallen Angels of Paradise have mastered an Authority related to filth, and the Inciter has mastered an Authority related to the realms of deception and instigation, even able to Twist normal Rules with words.’
’Only after mastering the Authority of a certain Realm can a Tier Four·Crowned King advance to become a Tier Five - Crowned King. The same applies to Abyssal Creatures.’
’Unless... could this Priest be a Quasi-Crowned King, just one step away from Tier Five? Is that why he’s so confident he can hold up the Purgatory Fire Demon’s Clone?’
"Report! We’ve spotted members of Fallen Paradise!" a scout relayed the latest news.
"It’s Gentleman and Lover, plus two other Tier Four members of Fallen Paradise! They’re trying to enter the Cursed Black Sea!"
Zhou Chen looked over at once and, sure enough, saw the figures of Gentleman and Lover on the roof of a distant building, along with two unfamiliar members, a man and a woman.
"They’re the members codenamed ’Chariot’ and ’Violet’," the command center quickly identified the two Tier Fours.
"I’ll take one of them. The other... Miss Anna, can you handle it?" Titan asked.
"I’ll take ’Chariot.’ My Abilities are a good counter to him," Anna nodded.
The tactical assignments were settled in just a few words. All that was left was to wait for the right moment.
BOOM!
A massive explosion erupted without warning. The Godslaying Weapon and the Purgatory Fire Demon’s Clone had appeared in the area ahead, causing the ground to collapse. Facing the might of a Tier Five at such close range, many of the team members’ vision went black.
Zhou Chen felt as if his head had been smashed by a heavy hammer. His head was splitting, his vision swam, and a crimson tint washed over his eyes. Warm liquid began to flow uncontrollably from his nose and ears.
BANG!
Another collision occurred right on top of them. A powerful shockwave swept out, and Zhou Chen’s ears were filled with a violent ringing. Then, he couldn’t hear anything at all. He briefly fainted, and when he came to, he saw many of the team members around him were also just regaining consciousness.
Thanks to the Concentration Necklace protecting his mind... Zhou Chen decisively made a wish in his heart to recover. In the next second, his headache rapidly faded, and his mind returned to normal.
However, a Tier Five Abyss Monarch was essentially a small, mobile Abyss. Its very existence caused terrifying mutation and Twist to its surroundings.
In every corner of the mall, clusters of snow-white maggots sprouted densely. They multiplied rapidly, soon filling every nook and cranny of the mall and spreading toward the group.
Living beings were always the best cradles for Parasitism!
The good news, however, was that the Godslaying Weapon and the Purgatory Fire Demon had moved away, the series of explosions fading into the distance.
"Move!" Titan shouted.
This was the perfect time to act. A large area ahead had been cleared of Abyssal Demons, killed in the battle between the Godslaying Weapon and the Purgatory Fire Demon. Furthermore, due to the residual High-Tier aura, the Demons wouldn’t dare approach for a short time!
It just went to show that the best time to act was when the enemy acted as well. On the rooftop on the other side, the four members of Fallen Paradise leaped down.
