Chapter 119: Grand Scale

Looking around to see if he was still being followed, Lucian who was still under the disguise of the low tier noble investigator, Rishan Kael.

Confirming that there was no one around him, Lucian stepped into one of the several houses he had bought under this fake name. That should at least by him some time.

He had killed most of those sent after him, but he couldn’t for a second doubt the man power of a large cooperation like Galactical.

They were going to end up finding all the houses he had gotten, and go through every single one of them, in search of Rishan Kael.

He should’ve been done with no use for this identity by then.

"Or not...."

Lucian muttered, his finger laying lazily on his bottom lip as he read into the details of the data chip the mysterious lady had handed to him.

Earlier, he had just glanced through the data chip, but now that he read onto the details, he could finally understand how deep these experiments ran.

Not only did the chip contain a breakdown of the experiments along with the identities of some of the experimental subjects, it also came with descriptions of encounters with some of their facilities and what was found inside.

Turns out they had more than one type of facility and after reading a little more, Lucian’s eyes sharpened. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

The information was feeling a little off though.

Here, it said that they had noticed in several facilities, tests where they made the subjects face each other, testing how much they had improved.

But from what he had gotten from the first lad he had raided with No. 5, they were no where near stabilizing the subject’s.

In fact they had just made the breakthrough which allowed them to transfer bits of an awakener’s power to a normal human and that data was about to be shipped out and sent to another base.

The name and location of the base in question, unknown.

The subjects couldn’t even handle the strain of the little power placed in them, exploding ti bits just moments after the procedure. The longest taking a few hours to explode to bits, or meltdown internal.

Reading a little further, Lucian’s eyebrows straighted in realization.

’Operating in multiples. I see....’

Whoever was behind their general operations was quite smart and who ever had manged to gather this much info was even more impressive.

He didn’t know how long it took them to gather this much info, but this was what he needed.

This organization, whoever they were, weren’t just approaching their goal from a single path. They were on every field; biomodifications, mental and psychic modifications, bloodline analysis and a couple more aspects, all of them reaserching the nature of an awakened and how they could achieve the goal of creating an artificial awakened, or something that could at the very least rival that.

And while the branch he had stumbled upon which had been focusing on bloodline analysis had just made breakthroughs, that wasn’t the case for all the other branches as some of them had advanced significantly, especially the biomodifications branch, incharge of melding the current age tech with the biological essence of a human.

In this age and time, biomodifications wasn’t something new. It only made sense as humans developed means to create super soldier’s, while others sought ways to increase their lifespan and so on.

How else did humanity conquer several planets, if not for biomodifications? The amount of awakened in the human population wasn’t enough to fill the military ranks with super-powered soldiers. Biomodified soldiers easily filled those empty spots.

But like every other thing, there were rules and guidelines set in place to prevent men from diving to the road of depravity which opened up with biomodifications, and the said branch had violated each and every one of them, pushing at the limits of what the current human technology was capable of.

He already expected the organization behind them to be huge, but his expectations just went through a substantial change.

He was starting to think that it wasn’t just a single organization, but a group of organizations.

He wasn’t aware of any organization or corporation big enough to fund such research without having visble effects on their outside business. It was just too tall of a task.

He had been suspecting Galactical, in fact he was sure that they were connected to the series of experiments in Crane City, and the words of the mysterious lady, their connection to the outpost that should have been shutdown and the stuff in the chip only proved him right.

He just didn’t have enough proof to go against them publicly, but now that he had a clearer view on the flow of things and the scale of this secret operation, it would be dumb to call out Galactical even if he did.

He would have to get to the root if this and identify all parties involved before taking action.

"Sigh! What the hell have the D.R.I been doing? Letting something like this slide under their nose!"

Lucian muttered, referring to the preventative body that had been set in place for situations like this.

At this point, with all he had uncovered, it had reached the point where he was required ti hand over the case to them.

But there was no way he was going to hand this over to an organization that hadn’t even noticed the activities going on, especially with all the resources dumped into their laps each year.

He had to at least see through with the investigation, gather all the evidence he could gather make sure that he missed nothing at all, before he could think of handing the case over to them, the only people who could actually take action against a case of this scale.

There was also the Crane city lord who was still unaware at the grand scale of the situation at hand.
