Chapter 410: Chapter 247: Date with the Assassin Shen Jinyue, Late but Arrived
The feeling of not sleeping all night is really… hard to put into words; I was awake until dawn.
The feeling of kissing is difficult to describe, how should I put it… It starts with the sweet taste of strawberry wine and ends up filled with the scent of hormones, succumbing in a moment.
Thinking about it, I actually had the idea of doing morning exercises.
I’m just full of admiration.
Unable to sleep all night, I can only hope to catch up on sleep on the afternoon flight back to Chang’an.
Figuring it was already dawn, Xu Qingyan was under Pei Muchan’s small blanket. Unsure whether to get up to buy breakfast, but then I remembered it’s not my house.
Forget it, I’ll wait until Pei Muchan wakes up, she can’t possibly…..
Noon, twelve o’clock.
Xu Qingyan was in bed, hungry enough to question his existence. He glanced at the time. To make matters worse, the screensaver popped up with an image of a roasted suckling pig.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that right now, I feel as if I could “devour a pig in three bites.”
He stared at the pristine ceiling, murmuring.
“What the hell?”
Finally, at half past twelve, Pei Muchan woke up, groggy as she washed up. When she saw Xu Qingyan, they looked at each other for a second, then Pei Muchan looked away.
Oh, hmm??
It suddenly hit her that the other person was still in the next room, tossing and turning for too long in the middle of the night before she fell asleep, her mind now preoccupied with the thought of “oversleeping.”
The moment she looked, she also remembered what happened last night.
“Did you… oversleep too?”
Xu Qingyan’s response made her chuckle, but seeing her in such a dazed state, his annoyance dissipated. He had already washed up and was just waiting for her to go out to breakfast.
Who would have known that Pei Muchan, who always wakes up early, would oversleep today, breaking her routine.
“Let’s go, it’s time for lunch.”
“Oh, okay.” Pei Muchan was in a daze for a moment, remembering that he had to return to Chang’an in the afternoon, she suddenly got nervous, “What time is your flight… this afternoon?”
“Close to evening, there’s still time.” Xu Qingyan prepared to change his shoes; he had washed and dried his clothes the night before, then looked back at Pei Muchan.
“Why did you sleep so late?”
Normally, Pei Muchan would not bother to explain, but now she seemed to be awkwardly trying to cover something up.
“I was too tired yesterday, I mean, recording the New Year’s gala was exhausting, and the itinerary was tight.”
“Oh~” Xu Qingyan casually responded.
“What are you ‘oh’-ing about?” She was dissatisfied, grabbing her bag to head out.
Xu Qingyan opened the door, “Oh is just oh, it’s nothing.”
Pei Muchan: “…..”
The underground garage.
As usual, Xu Qingyan drove. He was too lazy to adjust the seat and settled in to drive leaning against the car door. As the car approached the ramp at the entrance of the garage, he glanced at the passenger seat.
Pei Muchan was checking her phone, her thoughts unknown.
The car rolled over a speed bump, jostling gently.
Only then did Xu Qingyan look away, driving while thinking about work. After New Year’s, he’d be busy, following several rounds of major joint rehearsals with the main station.
Although he would occasionally think about Pei Muchan’s album, this sort of thing is ultimately her own career. He could give guidance, but shouldn’t be overly prescriptive.
Sometimes, meddling too much is less helpful than focusing on other matters.
One-sided efforts, even if you feel you don’t seek rewards, can sometimes become a heavy burden for others. Obsession inevitably leads to an echo.
Of course, there’s always something to gain; Xu Qingyan coveted her, the person.
Even with her easy-going nature, Pei Muchan could feel his unhidden intentions. Yet, his possessiveness wasn’t so apparent, keeping the hook always five steps away from her.
They found a place to have a casual lunch.
Xu Qingyan suggested driving him directly to the airport, and then Pei Muchan could drive back to the studio on her own. This way, she could work in the afternoon, and it would be convenient for both of them.
Pei Muchan didn’t think twice before refusing, “The plane is in the evening, what’s the rush? Planning to sleep at the airport?”
“Uh…” he mumbled, “Isn’t it just to save trouble?”
Hearing this, Pei Muchan looked at him annoyed, frowning.

“I’m not short on time.”
After eating, the two returned to the studio, walking side by side to the second floor. Their hands brushed against each other during the walk, and Pei Muchan simply turned slightly towards him.
She didn’t say anything, nor did she move away.
Once upstairs, Xu Qingyan went to the resting room to turn on the air conditioning and sleep with a blanket.
Pei Muchan still sat at her office desk, brewed herself a cup of hot coffee, the steam blurring her vision. Dragging her mouse, her thoughts were a bit scattered.
The afternoon passed.
Xu Qingyan was awoken by the alarm, sitting up groggily and taking a few minutes to collect himself before pushing the door open and leaving. The light outside was fading; he staggered for a while before heading to get some water to drink.
The office was empty; Pei Muchan was nowhere to be seen.
He stood next to the water cooler by the window, a glass in his hand. Tall and lean, he seemed to be not fully awake, eyelids drooping, drinking water and casting a vague sunset silhouette.
The door to the office was opened from the outside on the second floor.
Pei Muchan carried two bags, pausing upon seeing Xu Qingyan by the window. She had left in the early afternoon, so the lights were off.
An unsettled mind made her step outside to clear her head.
She noticed Xu Qingyan’s somewhat downcast figure against the dark interior of the office. The curtains were open, the sunset illuminating him, the lines of his shoulders shadowy and intermittent.
He looked a bit wilted, as if not fully awake.
His eyes were bright, sweeping over her with indiscernible emotion that caused a jolt in Pei Muchan’s heart, making her blink defensively.
But it was fleeting, as he lowered his gaze and leaned against the window.
“Is it cold outside?”
“Yeah.” Pei Muchan nodded, placing the bags aside, “Shall we drive to the airport now?”
“Sure.”
As they left, Xu Qingyan saw Pei Muchan holding the two bags once more and curiously glanced at them. Pei Muchan didn’t speak, only placing the shopping bags in the back seat.
