Chapter 891: Chapter 890: Focus on Eating

In those years, father was busy with business matters and had no heart to pay attention to her, almost never giving her a proper look.

Zhao Shuya’s attitude towards her grew worse day by day. Initially, she consoled herself by thinking it was because of her younger sister, but later realized how wrong she was.

The kindness Zhao Shuya showed her before was just an act, a way to secure her position as the mistress of the Su Family. With Su Manning, she no longer needed to feign affection.

Her childhood was dark; those beautiful things were all elusive.

Su Jiuyi suddenly fell into memories, forgetting there was a living person standing beside her.

Shi Aoju didn’t mind, and he glanced to the side, carefully observing the little woman lost in thought.

A few little boys playing up front suddenly lost control of their ball, which flew directly towards Su Jiuyi. When she snapped back to reality, she forgot to dodge.

At that moment, she felt a force on her arm, pulling her behind.

Shi Aoju stood in front of her, executing a perfect spinning kick, with the ball hitting the wall not far away.

"Nice!" The little boys nearby clapped their hands in genuine admiration.

Su Jiuyi was somewhat surprised; she hadn’t expected the stern-looking man in a suit to have such a playful side.

"Let’s go." He adjusted his shirt collar and walked ahead.

Su Jiuyi pressed her lips together, nodded, and followed along.

The pair attracted quite a bit of attention as they entered the alley, with many people watching them.

Su Jiuyi felt a bit embarrassed, keeping her head down and staring at her toes, while Shi Aoju seemed indifferent.

Perhaps he’s used to being in the spotlight like this.

He stopped outside a noodle shop, and Su Jiuyi, who had been keeping her head down, bumped unexpectedly into his back.

"How about here?" He turned around to ask her opinion.

Su Jiuyi nodded, replying, "Anywhere’s fine..."

She was somewhat surprised; wouldn’t he choose a high-end venue for dining? Why come to a place like this?

It seemed quite out of character for him.

The two entered the noodle shop and sat down in a quiet spot. Su Jiuyi thought of something and couldn’t help but ask him, "Do you come here often?"

"Occasionally."

Shi Aoju’s response was succinct, and Su Jiuyi wasn’t the chatty type, so she didn’t ask further.

She observed the somewhat dated decor around her; the high ceiling, the straw thatched roof, and the fan looked like they had some years on them.

Soon, two steaming bowls of noodles were brought over.

Su Jiuyi mimicked Shi Aoju, snapping apart the disposable chopsticks and then adding some chili into her bowl.

"It’s very spicy." Seeing her bold move with the chili, Shi Aoju kindly warned her.

Shi Aoju ate slowly, and even using short disposable chopsticks, he managed to eat with an elegant demeanor.

His expression seemed gentle, with sweat beads forming on his forehead; the steam from the bowl spread across his face, softening the hard lines of his features, adding a touch of handsome carefreeness.

Su Jiuyi ate while watching him.

"Focus on eating." He said without lifting his head.

Su Jiuyi felt like a child caught making a mistake; she was embarrassed, quickly lowered her head, and stuffed a big mouthful of noodles into her mouth.

Shi Aoju glanced at her, feeling amused and helpless. He discreetly curled the corners of his mouth into a smile, which quickly reverted to his previous expression.
