Chapter 678: Something Happened

Arielle arrived at Irene’s room and found Aimee stroking the child’s back. Aimee immediately got up when Arielle arrived. She quickly walked to the queen, but with light steps so as not to make a sound that could wake up Irene. The child had just fallen asleep after crying all day.

"Aimee? Is Irene sick?" Arielle asked worriedly.

"Your Highness, do you mind if we talk elsewhere? I’m sorry if I’m being rude, but Princess Irene just fell asleep, and she’s exhausted after the trip to the academy," replied Aimee.

Arielle nodded approvingly. She also didn’t want to disturb Irene’s sleep. The child hadn’t had much rest recently due to having to prepare for her admission test, so it was a precious time for her.

Arielle invited Aimee to talk in her private library. She told the woman to sit down. She could see that Aimee’s face was paler, as if something troubled her.

"Aimee, have you had dinner yet?" Arielle asked while reaching out to touch Aimee’s sunken cheeks as well as the woman’s eye bags.

"Ah... I forgot. I’ve only been thinking about Princess Irene so far that I forgot to fill my stomach." Arielle lowered her hand again and sat on the chair across from Aimee so they could talk properly.

"So, something happened, right? Because you should have dinner at the academy now," Arielle reminded Aimee about the dinner that she, Irene, and William should attend at the academy.

Aimee nodded wearily. "We’ve been back since this afternoon. It’s because something has happened during the interview session. I don’t really know the details of the story. I only know it because William told me. So, in essence, someone from one of the members of the directors of the academy had made Princess Irene cry and William punched him. Before they finished the interview session, William took Princess Irene home."

"Cry? What did that person do?"

Aimee also explained what William had told her, about the person named Romario Altez, who happened to be William’s uncle, had cornered Princess Irene and asked why she didn’t apply to the academy three years ago when she reached the appropriate age.

The man also asked many things about Princess Irene’s relationship with her family. One of them was whether Ronan deliberately neglected her study so that the answers Irene had written in her essay were all wrong.

"What do you mean that they are all wrong? You mean, none of the answers that Irene has answered are correct?" asked Arielle who was so surprised to hear that.

"No, after William and I check it again, all of Princess Irene’s answers are correct. The scores for multiple choice are also perfect. Even the three numbers Princess Irene doubted are correct. It’s just that the princess got zero for her essay."

"What do you mean by zero? Are all the answers wrong?" Arielle was so confused. She had accompanied Ronan several times to correct Irene’s essay answers. Even though she understood only a little of the questions as well as the answers, Ronan said that Irene’s answers were good. Wasn’t there one right answer at least?

"That is precisely the problem, Your Highness. All of Princess Irene’s answers are correct. The answers in the essay written by Princess Irene are correct without flaw. It’s just that they found some very minimal errors on the spelling and decided to blame it all."

Aimee could understand Princess Arielle’s confusion. She and William were also confused. It was just a mistake that shouldn’t affect the result too much.

Aimee continued telling Arielle about what William had told her. Aimee said that mistake made Irene even more cornered, and because there was no other way, Irene accidentally told the truth that she had just learned to read and write for the past one month. And it made Romario corner Irene again. He even accused Ronan and Arielle for neglecting Irene.

Drowning in her guilt for not passing the admission test, Irene cried. That was when William hit Romario in front of the teachers and the other directors of the academy. So now they didn’t know whether Irene would pass the test or not. Arielle pressed her lips in disbelief. She wondered why the people there were so cruel to a thirteen-year-old child?

"Is there another school besides that academy, Aimee?" asked Arielle who felt unsure now. Even if Irene was suddenly accepted, she didn’t want the people there to ostracize the child.

"There are actually three academies here in Northendell, Your Highness. Edelweiss Academy is the best academy and only smart students from the nobility can enter. Then, there is the Tulip School, the all-girls school and the Northern School, for the children born of the commoner."

Aimee explained that the only one that could help Irene academically was the Edelweiss Academy because the Tulip Academy only taught basic things about commerce, history, and everything a woman could do. Meanwhile, the Northern School was aimed at children from the commoner. They only taught the students to read and write or other insignificant lessons.

Arielle had to talk about this to Ronan. As an older sister, of course, she wanted the best thing for Irene, but if the child had to go to a school that didn’t value the talents of its prospective students, Arielle didn’t want that either. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

She already had a long experience of being ostracized. So did Irene when the child still stayed in the werewolf clan, thus Arielle didn’t want that to happen again.

"Romario Altez? Does... he has a relationship with Ferguson Altez? Irene’s teacher?" asked Arielle as both of the men happened to have the same last name.

"Yes, Romario Altez is the first child of Ferguson Altez. Mr Ferguson has stepped down as the head director of the academy and now his son is taking his place."

The head director of the academy... that sure was quite an important position, wasn’t it?

"Thanks for the information, Aimee. I’m going to see Ronan to talk this over. I don’t want Irene to be sad for too long."

Arielle stood up and left Aimee after reminding the woman to fill her stomach before going to sleep so she wouldn’t get sick.
