Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 693: A Grandmother’s Attention
Arielle and Irene couldn’t hide their amazement at how beautiful the room was. The room was a vast garden with many colorful flowers and plants. It reminded Arielle of Priest Louise’s greenhouse, but this room was much bigger and much more dense.
Arielle didn’t feel like she was in the North, but in Nieverdell instead.
"Boys, my guests have come. You can come back later..."
Arielle turned her head to look at the figure that asked all the servants to come out for a while.
An old woman with a very neat bun and rosy, chubby cheeks could be seen. She walked slowly and greeted Arielle.
"Welcome to my residence, Your Highness the Queen. It is an honor for me to be the host to accompany you," said the old woman with a wide and gentle smile.
She then covered her lips as if surprised.
"Oh, my... you must be Princess Irene... My goodness, the last time I saw you, it was when your mother invited me to your baptism ceremony. Hm... but I heard a bad rumor after that. No-no-no, if you’re here, it means you’re okay. My granddaughter... you look so beautiful, so much like Arthur..."
Was the old woman really Princess Bertha? Arielle asked inside her head.
The reason was ... Princess Bertha was not at all what Arielle had expected. The old woman looked... like a typical granny? Not as eccentric as Miss Dressrosa, nor as strict as Mrs. Churchill.
"Oh, my gosh! Where are my manners? You can sit down. Come here, you can think of it as your own home and be comfortable, or think of it like your own grandmother’s house. Do you want cake? Tea? Or milk? Oh! If you want to wait a little longer, I’m making cakes, would you mind tasting it?" asked Grandmother Bertha, who kept talking continuously since the first time they entered the room.
Arielle and Irene sat on the couch where some of the men sat comfortably there before. Grandmother Bertha chased them away again, and like a child, they were sulking, making Grandmother Bertha blush.
"Gosh, all of you ... you will also get the cakes that I made. Now go play with the other female guests. I want to have time with my grandchildren," said Grandmother Bertha, making them cheer again.
Grandmother Bertha didn’t treat them like Miss Dressrosa. They looked... very loved, like a grandmother who loved her grandchildren.
"Oh, Arielle..."
"Yes?"
"Is it alright if I call you just Arielle? You married my grandson, right?"
"O-of course, it’s fine, Princess." answered Arielle nervously.
Grandmother Bertha giggled and patted Arielle shyly on the back. "Oh, come on.. call me grandma like the others."
"Y-yes, Grandma," replied Arielle, who had a hard time putting away her nervousness.
Grandmother Bertha treated Arielle and Irene like how a real grandmother treated her grandchildren. The woman kept offering a variety of delicacies for them. Arielle had a hard time conveying their purpose of coming there because Grandmother Bertha didn’t give her time to speak.
"I’m sorry I couldn’t meet you right away before. The chocolate you brought is really delicious. I’m glad that I can still enjoy it at such not a young age. It reminds me of the previous late king," said Grandmother Bertha, who offered Arielle and Irene to taste the chocolate they brought earlier.
Arielle wanted to refuse, but Grandmother Bertha kept pushing her to take one piece. Seriously, her stomach felt like it was going to explode. There was already no room to fill in anymore because Grandmother Bertha had been forcing her to taste the various kinds of desserts the woman had made herself.
Irene was the same. She put the chocolate into her mouth hesitatingly and chewed it slowly like someone who was tired of chewing.
"How is it? The combination of sweet and bitterness is delicious, right?" asked Grandmother Bertha cheerfully.
Arielle and Irene nodded at the same time and forced themselves to swallow the chocolate into their throat faster.
Seeing that Arielle’s cup was empty, Grandmother Bertha brewed another cup of tea for the girl. This time, it was the lotus tea that the Northerners rarely drink. Arielle had tried many kinds of delicacies made from lotus, starting from lotus cookies from the lotus root to the tea, which was said to be great for the stamina of young women like them.
Arielle tasted the tea and thanked Grandmother Bertha.
"If you are full, you can rest in the room I have prepared. Grandma knows you have to go on a long journey to this manor. You can sleep here so that tonight we can have dinner together," said Grandma Bertha who then clapped her hands. Then, five shirtless male servants arrived to clean up the table and led Arielle and Irene to go to their respective rooms.
"Um... but... Grandma Bertha... I want to talk to you about something."
Grandmother Bertha chuckled and told Arielle to be patient. "Just rest first. We can still meet tonight. I don’t want my grandchildren to be exhausted. I embroidered a warm blanket. I hope you can sleep comfortably," she continued, then waved her hand, letting Arielle and Irene, who were led away by the shirtless servants.
Arielle stretched out her hand so the man wouldn’t touch her and just led the way. She had a different room from Irene. Arielle was placed in a very luxurious guest room. Even far more luxurious than the rooms in the palace.
Of all the things that Arielle could see, she could judge that Princess Bertha had quite a lavish personality. Arielle laid down on the bed, which was quite soft. The warm red blanket was also soft and warm. It made her think about her husband.
It must be very cold outside. Moreover, they had gone through such a long journey for several days without rest. Ronan must be very cold right now. Arielle hoped that tonight she could talk and ask Grandmother Bertha to allow all the men out there to come in and rest too.
Arielle couldn’t bear to leave them out in the cold like this every night.
