Chapter 88: Going Home To The Northendell Capital

"Someone wants to see you," Ronan told Arielle.

"Who?" asked the princess, confused.

"See for yourself," said Ronan.

The man stretched out his hand to help Arielle get off the carriage. The Arthur couple approached slowly, and Arielle greeted the two in a friendly manner.

"Mr. Arthur? How are you feeling? Junia and July are all right?" asked Arielle, who was still worried about the condition of the two sisters.

Mrs. Arthur held out a wooden basket covered by a white cloth.

"Your Highness, please accept this as a token of our gratitude. Junia and July are back playing with their friends. Without your help, something worse might happen to our family. Thank you for your courage. I have nothing, so this is all I can give."

Arielle turned to Ronan. The man nodded and allowed Arielle to accept the basket. The wooden basket was quite heavy and when Arielle opened the cover slightly, Arielle could see five glass jars filled with Frostberry jam.

The girl gave her basket to Tania. "Thank you, I’m glad you’re all okay."

Mrs. Arthur seemed to be holding back tears. The husband embraced his wife to comfort her.

"I-if one day you come back to visit Fostmount. I-I’ll repay your kindness more properly."

Snow was slowly falling. Arielle grabbed the woman’s arm. "Thank you, Mrs. Arthur. I will always remember you," she replied.

Ronan tapped her carriage and signaled Arielle that they had to hurry back. They had to get to the inn before nightfall, so Arielle could rest and warm up again.

Arielle took a step forward and hugged Mrs. Arthur. The woman started crying which made Arielle laugh. Arielle then gently patted the woman’s body to soothe her so she could stop crying.

Mr. Arthur took off his hat and placed it in front of his chest to salute Arielle. He might never have had this opportunity if Arielle hadn’t found him at that time.

Wandering the hills when he was not feeling well with a blizzard going wasn’t a good idea, but Mr. Arthur had done it all to find his two daughters.

Junia and July played since morning since they woke up, as usual. They just couldn’t predict that the weather would worsen so quickly and trapped the two on the hill.

A worried Mr. Arthur tried to bring them back from the hill, but the blizzard obscured the view and made it difficult to access the climb.

Mr. Arthur was exhausted when he found his two daughters who were taking cover behind one of the big trees. But the man could no longer stand on his feet and passed out there.

Mr. Arthur couldn’t remember what happened, as he had not had time to bring his two daughters down. But then he woke up and found himself already in King Ronan’s manor.

A knight who helped him said that Princess Arielle was with his two daughters, and more people were dispatched to pick them up.

The man’s heart sank when he found that only July had been found unconscious on the hillside. Junia and Princess Arielle’s whereabouts were unknown. Mr. Arthur was ready to take responsibility and be punished by the king if Princess Arielle was not found or if something bad happened to her.

Their search continued. Knights and guards went in and out of the manor to provide updates. King Ronan and Lord William also directly intervened to carry out the search.

A few hours later, Princess Arielle and her daughter, Junia, were found by Lord William and King Ronan himself. Mr. Arthur really felt devastated to see the condition of his daughter and Princess Arielle.

Although he was relieved that they were finally found, his guilt was so much greater, that the man could only cry with his wife.

Every day he returned to the manor just to ask permission to see the princess, as he planned to express his gratitude. But every time he reached the gate, he always lacked the courage, until he heard the news that the king and princess would return to the capital.

With his remaining courage, Mr. Arthur was dragged by his wife to meet Princess Arielle directly.

Here he was now, could only look down to hold back tears in front of the princess.

Arielle stepped back and smiled gently at Mrs. Arthur. Now she turned to Mr. Arthur.

The man continued to stare at his feet.

"One day, if you visit the South. I hope you will visit me," said Arielle. Her voice was gentle and it warmed the peasant’s heart.

Mr. Arthur lowered his body then prostrated. "Forgive me, Your Highness. Please forgive my negligence for not being able to take care of my own two children. I’m sorry that I made you hurt."

Arielle lifted Mr. Arthur’s body which was on the snow because she felt awkward.

"You don’t need to apologize, Mr. Arthur. I’m just doing what I can do," the girl said. She patted the snow off the man’s shoulder.

"Arielle, it’s time to go back," said Ronan from behind. He was worried if she stood for too long under the snowfall, she would feel cold.

The girl nodded in understanding. "Please, convey my regards to July and Junia. Tell them that they are great sisters and are strongly united because they are willing to sacrifice for each other. I hope they can love each other until they grow up. You two too... take care of your health always."

Ronan reached out his hand to help Arielle get onto the carriage. He closed the carriage door then raised his hand as a signal for Mrs. and Mr. Arthur to step back.

The two of them received the signal from the king. After that, Ronan returned to his horse. One by one, the leading horses stepped out of the yard.

Arielle waved her hand at the crying Arthur couple. The wife tried to calm her husband by hugging him from the side. The woman returned the wave of the princess and the king’s entourage.
